Mine don't either ..... they only THINK they do . However, Mufti is too old to even use the steps and Danny is getting on a bit and sometimes feels those increasing years, I think.
-
No, they are from Innovations ..... AND the best thing: they came fully assembled. The width of the step is a bit narrow, so I think that is putting the dogs off a little bit, but they'll get used to them.
-
So I don't have to get out of bed to lift them back. They will happily jump off the bed and then pretend they can't jump back on :D They won't used them . . . . . . . . YET

You latest posts have filled me with mixed emotions yet again, Jed: stomach heaving at the descriptions of your skin grafts, horror at what have you been through and continue to go through, total amazement at your seemingly matter of fact acceptance and moving forward attitude and incalculable admiration for your strength of purpose. And continuing deep sorrow at what you have lost. (And for you too, Silverdog ) May your courage and strength (and love for little Phoenix) and the wonderful IRL friends and family continue to sustain you. ETA: Yesterday, I was speaking to an adopter of one of my rescue dogs. She has a crewcut too - through Chemotherapy though. She agrees that it is very easy to look after :D .

So I gather you actually saw the animals and followed the whole of the court proceedings?

I wonder why . Rachel, I think you should report it to the police, too. With proper and experienced questioning, you will probably be amazed at how much you remember about them and the car.

Dogs Who Are Cat Chasers And Biters

There would be no case to consider if Myrtie were a dog big enough to harm, let alone kill, a cat. -
Dogs Who Are Cat Chasers And Biters

Myrtie is from a pound, Souff, where she was going to be "pts" because they thought she was very old. You are right, of course :p . When I was a volunteer at Burwood Pound (Sydney) many years ago, the owner of the clinic where the pound was based used to say that the older and sicker the dogs was, the quicker it was rehomed. This is very interesting, Mita. Gussy is quite the opposite to the first part, but the second part is her to a tee and she does this when we are out walking. She will wait for us, or walk across the front lawn to join us. Sometime she will be trailing along behind us, then break into a sprint, run between us, then throw herself down on her back, legs in the air and wait for one of the dogs to reach her and then they start smooching. She regularly just walks up to one of the dogs and sniffs them (and they her) like another dog and rubs her face against them. She sometimes sits behind a telegraph pole and when one of the dogs starts sniffing the pole, will give them a swipe Funnily enough only outside, but if I bring her inside the house, she bolts for the bedroom where her catflap is. However, I am bringing her in more and more (I wear a thick coat ) and sit on the couch and she gradually relaxes and starts to purr. This morning when we were all coming back from out walk, Gussy was waiting for us. She lay down and did her smoochey "aren't I cute" performance and we were only a few feet from her before Myrtie barked. Gussy then fled but only a couple of yards and stood there with her tail switching backwards and forwards. Probably only a nano millimetre step forward, but I think there is hope. I love hearing other people's ideas, suggestions and experiences. Thank you. -
Those outside pix will go down well at her 21st Birthday Party.

I'm shaking just reading it Rachel. I hope they didn't see what house you went into.

For Nic.b And Her Senior Boy Old Ray
Loving my Oldies replied to Rescue List's topic in Rainbow Bridge
What a beautiful thing to say - and so true. Thanks for explaining about Hannah, Nic, and when you can, post the name of the book. It would seem Hannah goes to a very good pre-school. -
Oh, I thought the woman wanted to leave the puppy outside all the time.

Thank you so much for that wonderful story, Nic. May Old Ray truely rest in peace under the crepe myrtle. How is Hannah? Blessings to you all. -
Oh lordy -- laughing tears here. We are their slaves, no doubt about it.

The lady and vet deserve each other. The poor little pup doesn't though.

Gosh, that Zedley's a live wire, isn't he? Lovely story Loraine. It is good when you meet nice people particularly if they are nice teenagers ;)

Dogs Who Are Cat Chasers And Biters
Loving my Oldies replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
Greytmate, I understand your concern. Generally speaking, Gussy has a lovely life and doesn't come in contact with the dogs unless she decides to join us on our walks. I spend a lot of time in the front garden which is her domain and she loves spending time with me. Myrtie is not a greyhound, but a tiny little terrier cross breed; however, I do understand that isn't doesn't matter what the size of the dog is if a cat is frightened of the dog. As to why I haven't rehomed her, see my thread about her - she was in the pound as "Rescue or Reclaim Only" and the pound thought she was very old. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=198210 She has very few teeth left, however the vet thinks she is only about 8 years of age despite having rotten teeth generally associated with a much older dog. After her dental, her tongue now hangs out of the side of her mouth and causes her discomfort and stress. Some days she is not well (a visit to the vet is scheduled) and I am not sure whether this is because of the constant licking and trying to get her tongue back into her mouth and thus swallowing air or what. She regularly throws up and I can tell she is the one throwing up because she licks dirt and there is dirt in the vomit. I will be having more tests done when she is at the vets, because although on first visit and when she had her dental, her vital signs were judged to be excellent, I wonder whether there might be something lurking that isn't obvious. So one of the reasons I haven't put her up for rehoming: I am not sure whether it is the correct thing to do to rehome a little dog who may have medical issues which we haven't found as yet. You have made your point, I have read your posts carefully, I have asked for people's opinions, but would also be grateful if you didn't continue "to beat a dead horse". -
Dogs Who Are Cat Chasers And Biters
Loving my Oldies replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
LOL - I have all that already, Greytmate, and not just for Gussy. All my dogs mingle effortlessly, however, I have baby gates and dividers ready to put up when I do housework, want some peace, feed them separately so I can see who eats and who doesn't, people are coming over, etc etc. I am going to try the desensitising for a couple of weeks and if I feel I'm not getting anywhere, I will look to rehoming Myrtie. -

Thanks, I'd thought about that. I'll bring in the little crate and start on that today. Gussy is bigger than Myrtie, but I wouldn't want either of them to get hurt. Ain't that the truth! My "original" dogs are totally fine with Gussy, in fact she rubs up against them and follows us on our walks. But let them see another cat as we are on our walks !!! In fact they aren't too bad and do come when I pull them away from eyeing a cat sunbathing in a front yard. They are never outside unless on leads, so that situation is controllable. Thanks folks: you have given me hope. -
I rescued Myrtie recently and she is doing very well and is a gorgeous lively happy little dog. BUT!! She is an absolute horror with regard to cats. Gussy Cat has been with me since 1999, when, I promise you, she followed me home. Therefore, Gussy Cat has priority, apart from the fact she is not a younster anymore and should be able to curl up in the sun and do as she likes in her own home. Myrtie sits on top of the couch watching the front garden and goes positively ballistic when she sees Gussy or when her toy boy from down the road comes to visit. I have been bringing Gussy in throughout the day, holding her tightly as she just wants to escape, in an effort to get Myrtie used to her. Yesterday, I was sitting at the desk and Myrtie was jumping up so hard trying to get at Gussy, that she was hitting her head underneath the desk - but even this didn't stop her She really does try to bite Gussy and is sometimes successful. Gussy has a catflap into my bedroom and for the first time in ages, she came in last night. I was happy for only a couple of minutes . Myrtie was under the bedclothes but very quickly sensed Gussy was there and she went crazy and of course Gussy fled through the catflap. For ages afterwards, Myrtie paced up and down the bed, trying to work out whether she could reach the bedside table or the window sill and give chase. Myrtie is a mix of breeds (she is tiny at 3.4kgs), but somewhere in the mix I am sure there is Silky Terrier. Very quickly after I'd rescued her, I realised that I didn't want to rehome Myrtie as she is a dear little thing with a big personality, but naturally my first loyalties and care are to Gussy. What are my chances of getting Myrtie to a state of non reaction to Gussy?

Dogs On The Corner Killed Old Mans Dog Sunday Night
Loving my Oldies replied to memphis09's topic in General Dog Discussion
I haven't read the whole thread, because I don't want to read about the man's sorrow and his poor dog. Just wanted to add a couple more people to the list of people: your State Member and Federal Member. As Greytmate says: these people MUST be made accountable for actions and lack of actions. -
