  1. This is all totally fascinating, s/chick - never doubt that. I don't know anything about Dalmatians and their vocalising (although I do know about the Dally Smile and have seen it several times over the years - LOL), but I would imagine that they understand what the other is "saying". Pepper sounds the perfect dog for teaching Dylan some manners; poor boy hasn't every learnt that manners are needed to get along in life and if someone has to show him, a well adjusted happy dog like Pepper is the one to do it. As for Tango, what a boy, huh? He has his playtime boy and his smoochy time girl. Taken down several notches, I have a little bit of the same with Danny, Tamar and Jeune. Danny is Tamar's playmate but Jeune is her soulmate.
  2. I started a thread sometime ago having been very excited to have seen an adult Bernese in the flesh and the posts about what gorgeous dogs they are were amazing. They would really seem to be just about the perfect dog. How times flies - it wasn't that long ago: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=202242&hl=
  3. Yes, that's what I thought too. Poor baby, I hope it is a one off.
  4. Well that's a relief I was wondering how the adoption was progressing and it all sounds like a perfect match. Yes, Jo, you will be very sad, but once you've let her go to these people, you will let go too. That photograph is just terrific.
  5. It sounds as though they have to for self preservation from the PITA ;) Well now, how much time do we have . . . . . . .
  6. Well it will come, obviously, but at least we can rationalise and undertstand why we are sad. Those poor dogs who are left in Tobias's condition must be so sad and with no understanding of why. Which is why, of course, that that beautiful, gorgeous dog is now with you
  7. She sure does, and I believe you are making up all these nasty things about her
  8. I sure didn't want to read this thread, but I just had to check that the puppy was okay and hadn't lost his eyes. That is just not the issue, RSG. It is all about weak people wanting some power and the only way they are going to get that is to pick on someone or some animal that is much much weaker than they are. It is time people stopped the mantra that retribution just brings us down to their level. These people just don't understand mercy. They can't give it and when it is given to them they see the other person as weak and themselves as having won. So, yes. It is about time crimes like these were met with retribution. Why the names are withheld is beyond me. Had these people murdered someone their names would be in the papers; why not for cruelty cases as well. Why should we show them mercy when they have shown none?
  9. Nothing wishy washy about this, s/chick. I reckon foster carers go through this with a lot of the dogs they foster. You will know what to do when the time comes .... if it does. Hey, what happened to Rumba , or if you have trouble with the "R" ...... Wumba
  10. What about? This thread is inane and shouldn't be in General Dog Discussion.
  11. Well Chewy needs a lesson herself. Subtitle should be "It's ADVICE" not "Its ADVICE" ... assuming of course that an It can't give advice.
  12. Brilliant! Splendid!! Amazing !!! Nothing could be better than a dog at full stretch revelling in life.
  13. The Shih Tzu must have just rushed past the gate a couple of generations ago ;) .
  14. Wonderful S/chick. Very happy he is now in your loving and caring hands ;)
  15. I would say that Kuma is smart enough to pick up the real emotions under the surface.
  16. I believe Deshonko Kennels haven't returned her calls It was pretty awesome. I posted some photos on Wazzat's thread.
  17. S/chick did say that she wouldn't have anything to report until at least 5pm.
  18. That is just terrifying. No wonder you can't stop crying. When you can, report it to the police and also to the heads of the schools in the neighbourhood so people can be made aware and make sure children aren't walking on their own. Let local paper (if there is one) know about it too. If that dog isn't contained, there will soon be a thread in In The News forum.
  19. Well I know whose behaviour is uncceptable and it isn't Kuma's What I find totally unacceptable is that people are telling you that Kuma's behaviour is unacceptable. Frankly, Dupree should be put on the footpath with all his baggage, external and internal. If you don't have the courage, think of your dog.
  20. Mental illness is ignored in Japan. The 'village idiots' bring shame on the community so they're shoved away in the closet. You said earlier the same thing doesnt happen here, didnt you? Garbage. Speak to any Psychiatrist and they will tell you point blank that mental illness in Australia is way down on the priority list. Not long ago a breeder and judge was found to be a hoarder. People on this forum, and maybe you were one of them, asked why no one in her community dropped in to look in on her - people dont anymore. That poor woman. Likewise for the couple in Japan. Things would have to not be sparking in your head to allow that sort of shit. I certainly didn't.
  21. Well in actual fact a couple in Japan allowed their baby to die while they played pretend mummy and daddy on their computer with a virtual reality doll. Just because some of us feel that the "mental illness" card has been overplayed, doesn't mean we lack compassion or don't have first hand and/or personal experience. The whole business of not taking responsibility for our own actions has gone too far. Of course there are people with the most ghastly tragic experiences which can cause them to spiral into mental illness and there are people on this forum whose experiences leave me totally aghast that they can still get up in the morning and carry on. How would you feel if someone high on drugs and/or booze rammed into your car and killed or maimed someone you love. Would you be so compassionate then. Because these are the sorts of people who are blaming "mental illness" for their behaviour. Let's get real here.
  22. I agree. I'm empathetic (sympathetic even) to those with mental illness but there is absolutely no excuse for letting dogs' bodies rot in your home and have your children eating cold baked beans out of cans as a regular meal. It gives people who are suffering with mental illness and still doing their absolute best to look after those who are dependent upon them a bad name. I agree totally with these two posts. There would be very few of us who haven't seen people affected by tragedy and/or mental illness who everyday strive to keep it all together for those who are dependent on them.
