Oh, Casowner - such a shocking loss you have all sustained. I just loved your posts about Jake and how you obviously had such a special bond and understanding of each other. After your thread about the Echidna, I checked on your threads to see what I had missed since the death of Angel. Such shocking news, Casowner. Jake was a dog in a million. My deepest sincerest condolences.

Woman 'smashed Puppy Against Wall' In Western Australia
Loving my Oldies replied to Clastic's topic in In The News
You do understand that the concept of 'an for an eye' puts you into the same catagory for violence and abhorrent behaviour as the people committing crimes against animals and other people., don't you? (and saying you don't mean to be harsh but they should be killed really doesn't make sense).. As I said in another post, Cordelia, I think it is time we dropped the mantra of retribution puts us in the same category. The fact is that so many violent people understand only violence and for them to be met with kindness or leniency just means that those dispensing kindness and leniency are weak and to be disdained. Why do people who hurt people and animals smaller than themselves: because the see those who are smaller and weaker than themselves as easy prey. I think it is about time, cruely to animals needs to be met with something harsher than, "Now you know it isn't nice to hurt the puppy. Go away and be a good girl." Remember a few years ago, a young man was convicted (but didn't receive any punishment) for torturing a kitten who had scratched him? I saw on the television news footage of him walking out of the court: he was grinning grinning grinning grinning. I hope the judge or magistrate was made to watch that footage every day for the rest of his/her life. -

It is awful when they are so upset they just can't get back to normal for a while. As you said, though, he was so excited that Pepper was playing he couldn't even start to take on board the new messages she was giving. For a little chap who has been very neglected and who has been with you only for a few days, he is doing amazingly well. I loved the video ..... and how Madam Pepper came in and just bowed as though saying, "Well here I am; consider yourselves very privileged to have my presence." -

All this is pretty bad form . I don't understand why people have to lie, but they do and I have experienced very well known and respected rescue people/groups telling absolute porkies. Very sad. I have also been trying for three months to get a Change of Owner form from a rescue group . Off Topic: before you have your dog operated upon, get a few opinions. Lots of little dogs have luxating patellas and never need surgery.

I have to say that I think it is one of the best paintings of a dog I've seen. Wonder where the original is - LOL.

If they are JRT crossed with Papillion they should be terrific little dogs. Paps are great dogs and as you point out, you have plenty of time to spend with your dogs. They look totally gorgeous - I'd be in that shelter with my $$$ and signing on the dotted line

I have been receiving the cards and calenders put out by the Australian Foot and Mouth Painters Association for a long long time. I was flipping through them today and came across the 2010 Calender and found this remarkable painting:
