I'm in Brisbane, too. The bindis have taken over the lawn this season. We used to be able to keep them in control by just digging out any that dared pop up. But now they've come up like carpeting. Ditto with my front yard in Sydney Yes.

They have probably felt his hand or some other implement by now. It will probably be "Tut tut, you are a naughty boy. Go home now and behave yourself."

This is something I have yet to try, but as some of my plants are getting eaten, I will be soon: 1. Crush 75g fresh garlic 2. Place in a glass container and cover with approx 1/4 cup paraffin oil 3. Dissolve 10g of pur soap or soap flakes in a litre of water. 4. Add garlic mixture to soapy water. 5. Sieve mixture through muslin ensuring no pieces of garlic are in the liquid. Store in glass container. 6. To make a spray dilute one part garlic mixture to 40 parts water. Shake well and spray affected plants. Best spraying time is morning.

My previous vet, now retired, went to a conference where one of the main topics was about luxating patellas and probably HD - I can't quite remember. He told me he started talking to the man next to him saying how he disagreed with all the leg surgery that was going on and in all his years of practising as a vet had done only a few such surgeries. The other man said, "Jeez mate, don't say that. That's where I make most of my money!"

Well, I don't like to use the word "hate" in any circumstance. It is unfortunate that non dog owners assume etc etc etc. Sadly, they have plenty of evidence. Where you happen to be walking is not the point. The point is that stepping in dog poo and carrying it to other place is just not nice. The sad thing is that lots of people believe the littering or driving without a seat belt is their right and bugger everyone else. Rangers are just not doing their jobs and that makes me even more angry that the people leaving disgusting presents for others. Agree with this. :D Such a typical and frightening reaction when people are called to account for anything. We live in a very aggressive society. I often think about this because I was followed for a hundred metres or more by an irate man accusing me of not picking up my dog's poo when she was only weeing. Mind you I did give him a piece of my mind then and the next day when I saw him again. Later that afternoon he arrived at my house (he lives down the street) with a bunch of flowers. ;)

Earl Ate A River Stone ...and It Got Stuck.......
Loving my Oldies replied to MsKatie's topic in General Dog Discussion
What a relief it has turned out okay. I'd be worried about bark chip as well, frankly. All I can think of to suggest is to use those "stuck down" stone pavers. If you are wanting to use mulch, just use pea straw or sugar cane mulch. Let us know how things go. -
Should I Or Shouldn't I? Any Thoughts Appreciated.

Photos of that river are scary enough; in real life with your dog in it Your life is full of adventure, spotty -

OMG, spotty, your stories are supposed to have us in fits of laughter, not chilled to the bone with fear . What a terrifying experience for you, while the boy thinks it is all good fun. If you intend keeping Dylan, you'd better start putting in ramps, bars to hold onto in the shower and around stairs, get an emergency call button to hang around your neck, etc etc because you are going to age very quickly. ;) . I think I've aged just reading about his antics. -
Holiday Boarding - Uneasy 2nd Thoughts
Loving my Oldies replied to Skruffy n Flea's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm so glad everything went well :D . I hope you were able to relax and enjoy your holiday -- mostly :D I wouldn't be happy about a stinky kennel. I'd definitely say something about that. Everyone will be getting lots of cuddles and kisses tonight. BTW: I am boarding two littlle dogs for 10 days. One of them is Nilla (previously Vanilla) whom I rescued/fostered for several months end of the last year beginning of this. And one I rehomed with her from SOS. They are both very much loved, but I hope the 10 days go quickly - LOL - I'm out of the habit of having 7 dogs around the place. Nah! They are gorgeous and her mum told me she became very excited when she realised where she was going; she came through the side gate at a belting run straight up to me. So that was nice. -
Very quick :D

My Oh's Conversion To Dog Person
Loving my Oldies replied to dee lee's topic in General Dog Discussion
This is pretty extreme. In all serious, how can you DESPISE a cat or kitten or a dog? You may be ambivalent or not at all interested, but DESPISE ??? I find that quite extraordinary. -
OMG, a pimple squeezing trip around Australia to be organised

My Oh's Conversion To Dog Person
Loving my Oldies replied to dee lee's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sad isn't it .Deelee, have you ever asked your husband about his childhood experience of dogs to see if you can get to the bottom of it? I still have a habit that was formed before I was five. I cannot help but check enything that makes a bump on the road (things that have blown out of cars, shoes, pillows, sandbags, tree branches, etc etc) because my immediate thought is that it might be a dead animal. Try as I might, and even though only twice in my whole life has the "bump" been a dead animal, I cannot stop myself from doing it. And apparently when I was still a child, I would become hysterical screaming to dad to slow down because there was a dead animal on the road. -
I'll have to start a list . . . . . . :D :D

Celebrating Jacks Mdba Nomination

I'd love to be on the judging team :D -
This is such a wonderful thread. Great work, yellowgirl. More reasons for me to move to Adelaide Will ya pulease stop this talk about squeezing pimples ... I am one of those disgusting people who LOVES squeezing pimples and black/white heads and I am jealous. She is tiny - we needed to see Kasey to really see how tiny. Now they are the sorts of vets you want to have: 1. for helping you out financially, and 2. wanting to expand their knowledge.

OMG s/chick. I hope some of those people send you the photos. They will be wonderful in the books that you plan to write :D And how about that Dylan. He knows when he is onto a good thing. -
Interesting Correction Chain....
Loving my Oldies replied to Heidii's topic in General Dog Discussion
My immediate thought was that they wouldn't be as harsh, because I have seen plenty of people walking dogs on check chains who haven't got a clue. ;) I would have thought the noise would be muffled. I would also think that it would be very easy for an owner to know whether the dog/s were reacting to the noise. The noise comes first and then the tightened chain :D -

OMG! I've just thought of something. S/chick at the park calling, "Dyl, where are you? Dyl?? Dyl??" Person at the park, "Who have you lost?" S/chick, "Dylly, my Dally." Well, I though it was funny :D -

Harry Stolen Chihuahua Has Been Found!
Loving my Oldies replied to Brennan's Mum's topic in In The News
This is the horrible part of it. People who steal dogs and other animals have no concept of how much suffering they are going to endure .... and care even less, I am sure ;) But it is just so wonderful that he is home. -
