  1. I used to subscribe to her online newsletter. I find that my dogs are in heaven when I employ the circular movement, is it with thumb and first two fingers?? I'll have to subscribe again. I've just gone and ordered the book (2 copies) and also the one for cats. Next time they have bones, I'll try "Pick it up, Out!"
  2. Lovely, Noisy. My dogs sometimes push the barriers and bring raw bones inside. I just point and say sternly, "Out!" and out they go ..... mostly with the bone, but sometimes without :D :D That's for sure Doesn't it break your heart ? More info please.
  3. Yes, I think so too. Very funny and great photos.
  4. Oh, poor little Tonka, being made to have his photograph taken when he wants to snaffle down his yummy dinner . That is a seriously gorgeous lil fella.
  5. Hmm, I think I'd be telling the breeder that she's done a runner. So sorry and all that, but these Aussies, want to visit the wide open spaces. . . . . what can you do. Do you think she'd fall for it
  6. I find that I am quite paranoid now, my experience following so closely after yours, that the slightest little flicker or a waft of steam from the kettle has my heart jumping. So I can't begin to imagine how jumpy you must be. To think I used to get everything going (dishwasher, dryer, washing machine) and then go off to walk dogs, or a little bit of shopping. I don't leave the house with anything on anymore. It is amazing how people think that can put a bit of wire here and a bit of wire there and she'll be right mate Oh, forgot to add: yes my dogs are very particular about how the rice is cooked - always in homemade chicken stock :)
  7. I don't think I've mentioned my very very insignificant fire in this thread. But a couple of days after your fire, Jed, and all of us being filled with the horror of what you had experienced and devastated by the loss of your precious animal companions, I had my own fire. It was the most frightening 1/4 hour of my life, I think, but at least I knew if the house imploded the dogs were all at the door and would be out in a second. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=195996&hl= I believe that my post, and without doubt yours, made quite a few people review their preparations in case of fire. Another one which follows on from my thread above. See post #79 : http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=197035
  8. Sure did . So funny, with Dylan going under the bed all the time. He is nearly as tall as Pepper.
  9. I am not talking about you; I am talking about your constant criticism of Yellowgirl's rehoming of Banshee.
  10. Had Shepherds for a number of years and my youngest daughter wanted a Cavalier. so....the rest is, as they say, history! Clancy is 5 years old next months. We got him when my older Shephered was 14 but he was PTS when Clancy was 7 months old (colapsing sacrum) My eldest Cav is now 3 years. Crystal (pictured with Clancy) is two in December, puppies 6 weeks old. Well, they are all beautiful and look in the most wonderful condition.
  11. I state again, that had you read Banshee's story you would (or at least most people would) recognise that YG did EVERYTHING possible, she didn't hold back on all and any of Banshee's problems, she made the people go away and come back several times, she had the people have Banshee for overnight stays which apparently were wonderful. It is ridiculous that any criticism should be levelled here, only commiserations and and a lurking snigger (a good one ) that Banshee knows when she is onto a good thing . As for stressing the "sold", "for sale" side of it, well you are just trying to get one under the belt.
  12. How did you end up having Cavaliers and a German Shepherd ? I'd love a big dog one day but the dog would have to be older and quite happy with a slow amble around the block once or twice a day.
  13. No one is asking you to?! Don't worry about it Aziah . It seems one of Chewy's main aims in life is to find fault with me and/or my motives in any given situation No, I think that Chewy is more concerned about the ethics of rehoming a dog with temperament issues to a home with young children. This issue concerns me too, but I didn't read the original thread. Please don't make it personal. That's a joke ;) If people had bothered to read the whole of Banshee's story before criticising yellowgirl, they would have known that the getting to know and adoption process took place over several weeks which included short stays with the family before the final adoption took place. People are too quick to "give advice" without even bothering to find out half the story. As for Chewbacca being concerned about ethics, well to be dealing that card in relation to Yellowgirl is really going much too far . Why people have to circle like sharks just because an adoption doesn't work out is beyond me.
  14. I've donated to WSPA for years and will continue to do so. Widespread and very committed.
  15. What a bummer. That family seemed perfect. Funny how people change once the dog is on the premises . I guess she is your little girl now, YG
  16. And Clancy telling her, "Don't worry, pipsqueak, I'll look after you."
  17. Ah, lessons please. I guess it is the only way, we'd go mad otherwise. You'll have to start showing the raising of the house on the Renovations thread
  18. And rather confronting I would have thought. Have you decided on the design of your new house?
  19. Oh dear, that's all I need. Another list to tick! I've been denying accusations of being a twitcher for years, but no one is fooled at all. Yes, we stopped at a town on our recent holiday specifically to try to see Red Goshawks. Saw them, too! I have a frog field guide, a mammal field guide, a reptile field guide, and a tadpole field guide along with the bird field guides (I have 3 of them). Someone once got me semi-interested in fish, but I managed to pull out before I had to buy a fish field guide. We have a Shiba that lives locally, but haven't had a chance to speak to the owner yet. We nearly bought one, but got a Vallhund instead. We were concerned we wouldn't be able to cope with the busyness. So we end up with Erik, who I expect needs even more mental stimulation and physical acitivity than the average Shiba! I got excited when I was in the States recently and saw a Komondor. In the middle of LA, mind you. Does this explain your DOL name? I was at the Quarry at Homebush recently and learned as we walked around reading all the posted materials that Corvus is Raven
  20. I think dog breed spotters could be called Woofers.
  21. I had to laugh at this because I was exactly the same when a few weeks ago I saw and correctly identified a Bernese Mountain Dog and only because of the University of DOL. And, yes, I did start a post too :D http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=202242&hl= The Shiba Inu is an absolutely stunning dog but I have read that they can be very strong willed .
  22. What a dear little sausage . You go get better now, y'hear, young Chase.
