  1. It's only a different story if people on that thread are on this one and giving different advice :D
  2. Unbelievable. You are very good, Poison, to be trying to work out something to help this little dog. My thoughts are that you talk to your parents and convince them that the dog needs to be desexed asap. Have your parents taken the dog to a vet? If so and the dog has been living with your parents for some considerable time, the vet may be able to overlook difference in ownership if the dog is microchipped to your brother. If the dog isn't microchipped: "Possession is 9/10ths of the Law". :) Keep the faith, Poison, and don't wait for another litter of dogs to be pound fodder.
  3. I was looking elsewhere because he doesn't look desexed to me.
  4. Thanks Nic. K9A - I was thinking of you and Jack this morning. How is it all going?
  5. Makes you wonder where they were when things like this happen. Over the years, I had a few scares and it is just the worst feeling. I've also had a few chases down the street . One dog I was fostering went through the cat flap which is in a waist high window. One of the reason that home checks are so important when rehoming a dog, I believe  . You get to see things that others don't. Anyway, great news about Kosmo.
  6. I've sent a link to my sister and my niece in Brisbane, Sue, hoping they might be able to provide assistance from time to time. Good luck with your venture.
  7. I've just come across this, Rozzie. Mandrake was a very handsome man. Every time one of our beautiful creatures passes away, the space where they used to be is so powerfully empty. They make such a difference to our lives, when they are here and when they are gone. Sincere condolences, Rozzie.
  8. I can't get over the wonderfully intense eyes that Takoda has - such a stunning dog. And everyone, start saving your Rescue Remedy for K9Angel for when she has to leave Jack at school - LOL.
  9.  Thanks. Can you PM me your email address as the last time I sent you one, it bounced back.
  10. They look as though they are plotting some serious mischief.
  11. Those of us who have owned many dogs, I am pretty sure, would have seen the complete range of emotions from total unconcern to absolutely distraught. However, the most amazing display was from a dog who lived down the street from me. My little girl had congestive heart disease and died young. My other dog was a total mess and could not be left alone. However, when I walked him for the first time without the little girl, the dog who lived a block away went absolutely beserk to the extent that I was afraid he would hurt himself. He was a large bull terrier who adored Calypso and he was throwing himself against the fence, racing up and down and crying in that dreadful way that bullies have. It was so awful for all of us. I can't remember any more details as to how long it was before I could walk that way without this reaction.
  12. Congratulations on a beautiful girl. I'm so glad that Ziggy has a playmate again. You must be very happy.
  13. Oh, how I remember that, Teekay - it was so exciting.
  14. I love what you have on his little box. Mufti's is having "Mufti the Magnificent"
  15. My first vet (now retired) called 99% of luxating patella operations "tantamount to mutilation". If ever a vet diagnosed a dog of mine with ANYTHING wrong with his or her knees or hips, I would get probably about 4 opinions. That said, I am in the fortunate position of having vets that I would trust implicitly.
  16. Yes, I wondered about that. Although I listened a couple of times, I just couldn't understand the name given in the answering machine message, otherwise I would have checked white pages. I'll ring the vets later to see if they have had any luck.
  17. Would they get through at the moment? Makes me wonder if a road transport of dogs is stranded anywhere. . At least they would be safe and being looked after.
  18. If it hadn't been for the account on DOL, I just would have set off trying to call her to me which, as anyone who has done that, can be unsuccessful. I've just remembered another time when I was on the trail of two staffies, the little squat heavily built ones. Well, I eventually lured one to me and into the car and the other one followed. They "settled" themselves in the back seat of my car and proceeded to have a little love fest. Gods know what anyone behind me would have thought .... the car was rocking
  19. If you use an animal transport company you can hire a crate from them. However, if you have storage space and think you might be moving around a bit, probably a good idea to have one on hand in any case. Marty will certainly be eye catching up there. Be prepared to have lots of people oohing and aahing over him. Good luck with getting Marty up to Townsville and to getting to know people. I went to boarding there a thousand years ago - LOL.
