Need To Find A Good Verterinary Surgeon
Loving my Oldies replied to piperspal's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's a lovely offer, KHM. Piperspal's puppy could recuperate under Earl's ears. Thinking of you and your puppy, Piperspal. -

Can we see, please?  -
You mean pure breds? Or were they all surrendered with pedigree papers? Whats with the nit picking? They were purebred dogs, how would I know what they were surrended with. I'm just a member of the public making an observation. It's what some people live for, sadly, Michelleva. Some years ago, I worked in a pound and, again sadly, I understand what you are saying.

What a lovely/sad, lovely/happy thread. Your Molly was indeed a beautiful girl, Sheenat, and young Harry the Lad is a very lucky boy to be joining your household. There is another thread about getting a Cocker at Christmas, so we lucky DOLers are in for lots and lots of Cocker Puppy photographs.

OMG! Cocker puppies are really something special. I don't actually know much about the breed, but I've seen a couple of puppies over the years and they are so gorgeous and funny. I'm excited :D :D

Shelties are wonderful dogs. I suggested a sheltie! My siblings concern is that it will require alot of grooming. Sheesh!! The things people worry about. One dog - take it to a groomer every few weeks.

Crikey Seems to me that CHA knows 100% what she is doing: asking for advice, experimenting with what works for her dog and taking her dog to training. Full marks from me, CHA. ETA: Congratulations on the break through this morning.

Start trawling the PetRescue website. If you mum is retired and lives alone and has plenty of free time, I don't see much wrong with getting a puppy. She'd have the time and energy to put into getting it trained and enjoying all the variety :D :D that goes with a puppy I'm a few years older than your mum and have 5 small dogs - have had up to 8 at one time which included foster/rescue dogs. For what it is worth, the only consideration here is the breed, which is why I suggest having a look at the PetRescue website where you will see a vast array of dogs of all breeds, mixes and ages. Unless someone is absolutely fixated on a particular breed, in the final analysis they will love whatever dog they get.

Things Dog People Get Excited About

In my latest book, a copper, lady private detective and woman who hired the private detective are sitting in a park. A fellow walking his dogs allows it to poop and walks on without picking it up. Lady detective tells him to pick it up, he tells her to f**k off, copper gets up and heavy with fellow, fellow gets aggressive, copper flashes his warrant card - LOL. I am off to apply to be a copper so I can get a warrant card. Sorry, MUP - bit off topic. -
This would be my suggestion, too. Why have a little dog in a crate when he should be running around? He can do that in a play pen. For the car, when he is big enough, a harness and an attachment that clips into the seat belt clip. In the meantime, an old fashioned cat carrier which is solid on the base and wire on sides and top so he can see you and look around.

When the groomer can fit my dogs in. When I walk onto the deck and it is clean of wees. When I walk onto the deck and the food bowls have been licked clean. When I finally found the perfect food bowls for my dogs. -
Okay, I Finally Snapped And Was Rude

Poor you. I rescued a ferret once. I was in my lounge and saw something move beneath the piano stool. Did a double take - that's not one of my dogs!!  Without even giving a thought to how "horrible nasty animal" it was, I grabbed it and put it in the bathroom. Luckily I knew a couple who did Ferrett Rescue and they came and collected him the following day. I did put posters up around the place because the little girl/boy had been seen around the place in case someone was looking for him. The remarkable thing was that he'd safely negotiated Old Canterbury Road. I have to admit though, it took a lot of scrubbing to get the smell out of my bathroom and I had to replace the shower curtain.which was shredded. But I still consider that my fault because I should have put him in a crate. He was probably terrified. -
We aren't going to be lodgers or house guests, we are moving in permanently - LOL. Those pix of Huckleberry pretending to be a tree stump and among the roses

Sammy The Anti-gardener And His Big Weekend
Loving my Oldies replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is very funny  . Sammy Esq is one handsome fella. -
Yes that was my thought as well, it's spring & a young man's thoughts turn to love. Or following a good smell? My Jeune has a certain something and even if she goes downstairs to wee, the other dogs will either follow her or sniff her madly when she comes back upstairs. Maybe another femme fatale has been walking in those streets.

What devastating news. Poor little puppy. I am sitting here feeling so sick with sorrow and rage - I can't even beging to imagine how Orange's family must feel. Such f**king low lives. I hope with every ounce of my being that they are found, prosecuted and named and shamed. Oh, Orange - my heart breaks for you.

When I came to Sydney from Brisbane many many years ago, I was a morning runner. My morning runs in Brisbane were regularly like a social occasion - everyone said hello, people waved from cars, early workers waiting at bus stops, said hello, how are you, you're looking well ..... and so on. I remember with great fondness the elderly woman who ran down the front steps of her high Queenslander one morning with an umbrella because I was running in the rain.  I assured her I was fine and that the rain was a welcome relief from the heat. What a shock Sydney was. No one said hello or even nodded. Quite the reverse in fact. Rigid faces staring straight ahead and total ignore. However, I pressed on and only when I'd finally given up after about 3 months did I actually get an unsolicted hello. I wondered whether the person was from Brisbane :D I am surprised that so many posters have assumed, quite incorrectly, that I am a cranky grump who doesn't like to talk to people   . I couldn't count the number of times my walks turn into a chatting session with some neighbour or other, and even some stranger who happens to make a comment on the dogs. Luckily my dog are well behaved and will sit quietly around our feet while we chat. :D :D Not everyone who says hello is being friendly, however. A few years ago, I was walking Tiny Tilly, now gone to god, on her own because she was blind and I preferred to be able to give her my undivided attention. Plus the fact we could stand in the one place for 5 minutes while she happily sniffed. This particular day, I was about 100 yards from home in the next street when I saw this man walking along the street. He looked familiar and he was obviously coming towards me. I said hello (thinking how nice the neighbours were) he said hello and then started to abuse me for not picking up after my dog. Anyway, he was right off base and I told him that I always picked up after my dogs and pulled out bags from my pocket. He huffed and puffed for a while and then turned around and stomped off home. After a little chat the next day outside his house about being polite and neighbourly ( :D :D ) he came charging down the road to my place with a huge bunch of Camellias.
