I started reading this, noted the date and thought: hmmm few things might be going on here. Generous Thought: The person who resurrected the thread didn't see the date - which does happen. :D Not So Generous Thought: The person who resurrected the thread was trawling through old threads looking for something interesting and wanted to stir. Generous Thought: The person who resurrected the thread was wondering what had happened to the puppy, but the text of the resurrecting post doesn't support that thought. Not So Generous Thought: The person who resurrected the thread has an axe to grind. But all that aside, it would be nice/interesting to know what happened to the puppy - hopefully all good, but doubtful.

Sammy The Anti-gardener And His Big Weekend
Loving my Oldies replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
As soon as I saw that photo of Sammy, I recalled that several years ago I rehomed a little dog called Wilson. His new mum used to call him "heaven on a stick". I think Sammy fits the bill. -

Gosh - the excitement !! Definitely a harness for when you need to make a pit stop. -
Had to laugh at this. My dogs had all been given bones one day and the next they had all disappeared even though I knew they hadn't eaten them. I was standing in the back yard under my very large Turpentine wondering where all the bones had gone. Right at that moment, a bone fell from on high right at my feet. I hope the bird enjoyed it - lol. Shame you didn't get a video. We could have had a long long discussion as to whether or not it was a fake. :D Opposit here. They are supposed to eat their bones outside and often just ignore them because they can't bring them inside. Good grief - that brings back memories. I learned to play and sing Hard Hearted Hannah about a thousand years ago

Oh, Diva. That is awful, depriving you of the pleasure of bowl licking. Naughty cat Oh no. This made me cry. I had to be careful about this for Mufti the Magnificent ( ). I went away for a couple of weeks and on the list of instructions I left the house sitter was to make sure of this very thing

I decided to try this out and bought one this afternoon - glad I didn't pay $50.00. In fact I should have looked in the box first. It is probably worth $15 at the most. Anyway, I have had it wandering around the lounge/dining room. I was right about the dogs: all of them took off except Tamar - LOL. She kept following it around, but I couldn't get a photo except this one: It fits under the couch, but sometimes I have to rescue it: Weaves around the dining room chairs but I ended up taking them out onto the deck to give it a bit of freedom  :

I have a little Maltese Shih Tzu cross (not as gorgeous as Bobby though). Does that qualify me for getting an Alera Puppy, please?  Little stunners.

Irresponsible People In Dog And Animal World.
Loving my Oldies replied to LisaCC's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just because someone works with animals and is studying to be a Vet doesn't make them nice or good or wise or caring. Stick around here for a while and you'll learn that. Show your friends the Rescue sub forum. Upsetting for you, yes. -
No, it's mixed breeds Steamboat doesn't like (per m-sass). Steamboat has a staffy, jerry lee has a staffy, both write in the same way, particularly the accusing people of a conspiracy thing when someone has simply disagreed with his point of view. I didn't realise that jerry lee was Steamboat, no point in discussing the matter any further then, a complete waste of time  Actually now jerry lee has got his knickers in a bit of a knot the posting style does seems familiar. Picked it a while ago. Look at the overreaction to my saying terriers are too hard. Demands to know why I said it and then when he doesn't get a response, says people have a problem with my posts. Well, it is all a mystery to me, but I am sure you have alerted the moderators if you picked up that some one was using multiple whatzits??

Nope, I didn't like it. The child was trying to get away from the dog most of the time, except for the one time he almost climbed on the dog's head. He was trying to get away and to stop the dog reaching out for him. Admittedly the dog was being gentle (as far as we can tell seeing it was all in very slow motion), but he had huge feet and legs compared with the little child. Yep, makes me sick.

I thought the new pup was for Katdogs. -
You did what was right for you. And hopefully Pussy Cat is not badly hurt.

The woman doesn't seem to care, but loses sight of the fact that others do. Witness your distress. Because you have a conscience, it is difficult for you with no easy answers. Having had time to reflect and read other's posts, I would be inclined to say nothing, and hope that the cat turns up without bad injuries. If he/she does, you can take it to the neighhour and say you found it while you were out walking. Deception can so often lead to further problems, but taking the quiet way out, might the go in this case. I have a cat who visits every day and eats my cat's food. I am quite happy about this as they are company for each other and what's a few dollars here and there. Recently, on a few separate occasions, I found throw-ups in my garage and my porch. Because of the consistency and in one case a lot of undigested food, I knew they weren't made by my cat. I wrote a note to the people who owned the cat (because they live down the road from me, all work and/or go to school and I don't see them regularly) saying what I had found and that I was taking my cat to the vet and maybe they might want to take Tippy in for a checkup as well. The next time I saw them out talking to a neighbour, the woman rounded on me and spat out, "There is nothing wrong with Tippy!!" So, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I became the proud and nervous owner of two Maltese in 1993 - my first dogs for nearly 35 years - LOL. Glad I didn't start with anything bigger. I was horrified to read that they were one of the top five breeds to be stolen and I lost count of the number of times people stopped me wanting to buy them. I ended up with locks on my front and back gates and side gate.
-
Of, course. Because you are a caring and responsible person. Sadly, doesn't follow that others are.

How awful for you, Cougar, and poor cat. I agree with leaving a note, keep it brief, and perhaps put in something (gently) about "despite previous warnings"...... I hope he/she is not seriously injured and comes home for treatment. IMO, I think you need to reiterate that you have warned her because she might try to make you pay for the cat's injuries if they require treatment. Bit different but: My cat is "free range" but rarely leaves the yard. People used to walk their dog off leash passed my place, dog had no recall and they used to think it funny that he would run into my yard and chase Gussy Cat. They were very politely told to control their dog and that Gussy was old and didn't need that sort of aggrevation. However, if Gussy was wandering into a yard where there were dogs who could possible harm her and I had been warned about and I allowed this to happen, then I would be responsible for any damage and irresponsible as to the needs and welfare of my cat.
-
As above. Mine (all ten of them) are on top of the bookshelf in the study, where I don't see them every time I walk in, but where I can look at them when I feel the need to "talk" to them all. I have photographs scattered around the house as well.

I have Calypso's Pedigree Papers from 1993. Unfortunately, I doubt you'd come across her even in by looking into her cremation urn. She was cremated using the "services" of the RSPCA and judging from the amount of ashes returned to me, I'd say all the cremations they did were just jumbled in together and ashes just scooped up willy nilly without any thought to the size of the dog.

I don't know of any organisations, but try contacting Rescued with Love - they may have some idea.

The Urgent Pound Dogs
Loving my Oldies replied to Greylvr's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Which is probably a much better solution to getting a wider exposure. And if the information and photographs are already on the particular pound's website/FB, why reinvent the wheel, as it were. -
The Urgent Pound Dogs
Loving my Oldies replied to Greylvr's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
There is a sub forum for Urgents, Greylvr. See Urgent Rescues and Requests. :) I think that the forum has too many sub forums and so lots of these topics aren't even looked at anymore. Which is fair enough, of course. People are entitled to read only what they want to, but it does decrease the exposure to not only the urgency of dogs' needs, but also to a wider range of information.
