I seem to recall there is another thread in this very same forum which is pretty light on photographs, even with lawn mowers :provoke: -
Me too, at least when they are unlocked and extend. I assume they have their place but it isn't a vet waiting room, a footpath where other people and dogs want to get past, or the local outdoor cafe where they enable your dog to wrap themselves around passers by. I hate them with a passion! They might give the owner the sense of letting the dog run freely, but the poor animals that I have seen attached to them are constantly being jerked around like flailing puppets. I think they should be banned, but I can't see that happening. As for texting while the dogs are up to all sorts of things, I saw a young woman walking around my area the other day with a puppy on an extendable lead and the puppy was all over the road while she was talking on her phone. Unfortunately, I had all my dogs with me and was unable to approach her and give her a piece of my mind .... I mean a piece of my extensive wisdom. LOL.

So being totally ignorant of the breed, are the creams called dominos? In Evolving's sig, Echo is dark, so I am confused.

Love to hear the background stories. 20 years ago when I bought my first house in Sydney, it had what I tought was a vey strange name. AROLF. I was talking about it to my elderly father and he said, "Try it backwards." Naturally, when the time came, I had a dog I called Flora. AROLF was also my first DOL name.

There are a few born a year maybe between 4-10. It depends on which lines are involved. And you have TWO!! You must be vey chuffed
-
I would be totally incapable of choosing. They are all stunning. Can you post a pic of an adult cream, please, evolving? I'm curious as to whether they stay that way or as they mature do darker markings come through?

It would have to be a very busy one, crickets, to justify a position like that LOL. My vet has appointments so it is only very rare that the waiting room is busy. Usually only if there has been an emergency and then, if people haven't arrived for their appointment, the vet nurses will phone to let you know and give you the option of a new time.

You should have told her (gently of course) that that was her job :) I've gotten in trouble for asking people to control their dogs before. I had one case yesterday were a family brought in their three mix large breed dogs, two of which hate each other and started having a fight, I asked them to wait outside and seperate the two fighting dogs (we have a spot outside for people to sit) and the family then put in a complaint about me, grrrr! how awful. But I am sure your boss would be happy to see the back of clients like those.

Can only be mean ....... and laugh -
If they want a dog to watch them through the window they should consider a toy one. . You mean a toy as in plastic . . . . Not a toy breed, I hope, Greyhound? Definitely not. Where do people get the idea that 30 minutes is enough for dogs? My Myrtie is a 3.5kg toy breed mix and she would happily walk for a couple of hours a day. If I decide to take her out on her own, I am just about trotting to keep up with her. I DIDN"T!!! Hence the question mark after Greyhound????? Or did you miss that No, and I wasn't referring to your post in that. I was referring to other posts. Dear me.

Oh my - your daughter looks one happy happy gal, Shhenat. . Looking forward to watching that gorgeous Harry grow and flourish in your family. Already giving big kisses -
It is wonderful to see the transformation these neglected and misunderstood dogs go through. The really sad thing is that all it takes is decent food, proper treatment for fleas and/or worms, bit of grooming that some people seem incapable of giving and yet is just basic care. 16kgs I had no idea they were so big.

Because anyone with a heart knows it is against all things decent : -
On the face of it, it sounds as though this rescue group could have done a bit more in terms of making and keeping good relations. However, it is not easy to make an assessment when hearing only one side of the story. Some people are vey shocked when they apply to adopt a dog and the rescuer eventually turns them down. It is not easy for the rescuer either. I had to turn down people last year and it was vey hard as I know they were very loving and a very close family. They weren't turned down because of anything "wrong" with them; quite the opposite. I felt the dog wasn't suitable, too quiet and a little timid. I felt with 5 children they would be happier with a lively sturdy dog who would delight in racing and playing around the yard. All that said, your situation does sound ideal for a dog with special needs and you must be very disappointed.

Only if I could see this happening would I adopt a dog to people who said outdoor most of the time. Yes, there are people here who say their dogs prefer to be outside and are perfectly happy, but for me it would mean a big NO across the application papers. The children are 10 - 14. They might spend a bit of time outside with the dog when it first came home, but in time, the children would be inside watching TV, playing on their computer or games whatzits and the dog would be alone, outside. In my book, a dog is part of a family, not apart from the family.

The hoard is growing and Alera's forbearance is shrinking, I think. Little Cream has a very athletic pounce
