  1. Mr Cream seems to be a very serious young man.
  2. Oh Nic, too much for you all to bear. Annie has been such an important part of your lives and an anchor for you all through your dad's suffering. God speed, sweet dog.
  3. I'm on my way, bit of shopping first, then heading south. See ya later
  4. It is cooler here than yesterday and the dogs had their first morning walk for ages . Unfortunately no rain yet . Gussy Cat seems to have come through it all okay, snoozing and eating and being visited by her Toy Boy. :D
  5. Because the forecast is for a change and storms, I went out and mowed the lawns LOL: front, footpath and about half the back before I decided enough was enough. Few spots of rain, but nothing definite yet. Myrtie is quite calm so I am prepared for any storms to miss me . Drink lots of water with a pinch of sea salt in it.
  6. Inside in the air conditioning all day - and it is struggling :( and dogs have access to house and yard at all times. I have water bowls inside which I check on through the day. If the dogs want a walk, they'll have to take themselves Myrtie is looking longingly through the sliding doors, but no way are we going out unless there is a change.
  7. Waiting, waiting I love love love rough coat JRs. Look great and generally personality plus.
  8. WOW! That's pretty harsh. What evidence do you have for such a judgement? It's my opinion. What evidence do you have to call it harsh? It's your opinion. Stick to talking about rhe topic and refrain from criticising other posters. Otherwise it starts to seem like a personal attack, which is against forum rules. Nothing to do with a personal attack. I don't care who posted it. It was a harsh judgement without evidence - unless of course you have been consulted by the people . Perhaps you could have prefaced your remark by saying, "In my opinion ....". But you said straight out that it is all about ..... etc etc. And you were wrong as evidenced by TigerJack's story. That said, you could be right regarding some people's motives. Afterall, we see similar in some rescue groups who believe that all dogs should be saved. And I think if you'd bothered to read the rest of my post, I did say that I wouldn't put a dog through it, so I think was was obviously my opinion and evidence that I was sticking to talking about the topic.
  9. I can get fresh raspberries here. Any reason why you would use frozen? Yep because I cant get them - fresh is good and much better if you can put them through a sieve and take out the lumpy bits if possible Ok thanks I will get fresh raspberries, sieve them and add them in his diet after a 24 hr fast. Didn't Persephone suggest just the chicken after the fast ? Your dog's tummy needs a break from all the different things you have been trying. You must be worried sick . Try to get your boy a bit settled and then perhaps seek out another vet, or a specialist. Although there are people like Persephone and Steve here on DOL whose knowledge and experience are vast.
  10. WOW! That's pretty harsh. What evidence do you have for such a judgement? So, they are going to have to have a few wheel contraptions until the dog reaches full growth! I can understand people wanting to do this with a dog who has been a family pet for many years and has an accident or something happens to give it paralysis, but I wouldn't put a dog through it.
  11. Pic please. Now common, mum. He has to check for crocodiles.
  12. But, Megan, where would be the "fun" if people actually read what an OP said. Someone jumps in with a wild assumption and people following don't bother to check what has actually been said. Sad really, and leaves people feeling worse because they mistakenly thought that they could discuss a topic on this forum in a reasonable and mature manner.
  13. well so be it, but to me you were just gathering ammunition to use against your partner . It's why my only advice was to talk to him. Of all the judgemental, leaping to conclusions !!!! G.S.P. came here to talk about a decision she has to make. She is going to discuss it with her partner and thought that maybe other people on a dog forum might have gone through the same situation and was wondering how they coped. I'm sorry people have been so judgemental, G.S.P. Unfortuately, that is what happens. So many people on this forum have never heard of or they chose to ignore the old saying: Play the ball not the man. I hope you and your partner manage to work things out amicably.
  14. When you have the strength, hopefully we will have "Buddy's Law" or something similar. You and Buddy will never be forgotten.
  15. Hi Sheridan, I did ask this on the FB page but got a reply that all will be made public when the shop is completed. The concept is good if it is done the right way, but I can't see that it is any different from going to an actual rescue organisation. IMO I can't see a lot of rescues allowing their dogs to be cared for by strangers in a retail environment. I've scrolled through the FB page and saw that your question was easily deflected, schnauzer :) Anyone can post on the FB page, so questions can be asked there instead of making negative assumptions here. I would hope that rescue groups would contact the person (Lucy Edmonson) direct to try to get down to the nitty gritty of her intentions and in the process perhaps iron out any glitches that seasoned rescuers can see. Anything that aids and assists the rescue community, needs to be encouraged and supported, as long, of course, as in the background aren't any activities that cancel out the good. Opening day is approximately 3 months from mid-December. At this early stage, I would hope that people don't start off being judgemental and assuming the worst. As I said it is a good concept if done the right way and agree that any promotion of rescue is great. As I said in an earlier post would be good if they came onto the forum and explain how it will work. I think they just need to do that on their FB. DOL isn't the be all and end all of rescue, and their concept and practice intentions could be everything rescue could hope for, but there would be those on DOL who would want to bring them down. Cynical? Yes. In their position, I'd be staying away from DOL.

  17. LOL I was trying to resist, but people do think that.
  18. Well that puts the kybosh on 99% of the topics on any forum
  19. It is a partnership designed not to be broken .......
  20. Sadly when break ups occur, children and pets are the ones who suffer most - from what one reads. I hope the dogs don't become pawns or a way of one person trying to punish the other. As the dogs have spent virtually their whole lives together I think it would be cruel to separate them.
  21. I know you ask is it fair, but the emboldened bit is your answer. And apart from that, you also both need to consider what is fair for the dogs. I think you have answered that satisfactorily as well.
  22. LOL, I wonder the same. And why is it that the next day, they look like a very old, very moth eaten rug with loose hair sticking out in all directions. At least I have only one dog and the cat who look like that.
