  1. Sadly this type of thread has been done many times before and I imagine it will continue to pop up from time to time as long as there are dogs for rescue. It needs to be remembered that just because people rescue and rehome dogs, doesn't make them nice or decent or capable people. Often it would appear from the number of threads on this subject, it is the reverse, because it appears they are all wrapped up in how wonderful they are without being able to think of the animal's welfare or make a judgement as to whether or not a home would be a good one for a particular dog.
  2. Ah, what a wonderful opportunity for littly to be loved and doted upon. I was going to suggest Rescued with Love as well. Keep us posted, please, Aphra.
  3. That's not personality - that's just ugly
  4. It was Summer Hill a long time ago - LOL. I have to say that I have never ever been able to understand the fanaticism around football of any code. So many of the players are little better than thugs and so many (as is being proven more and more and everyday) are open to bribes and drugs.
  5. LOL. I have to pull myself up from time to time . . . . . . . . only occasionally :D
  6. Beautiful, Jellyblush. Love your taste in cushions.
  7. My deepest sympathies. But all is not lost ... talk to the specialists. Where are you? If Sydney, contact Jeff Smith at the Animal Referral Hospital at Homebush 02 9758 8666. They are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. ETA: I don't know anything about the condition in a dog so young as yours, but I rescued a much older dog a couple of years ago who was completely blind through cataracts. Surgery (and a lot of dollars) performed and he has perfect vision. I don't know if cataracts are caused by different things, so I would imagine a lot depends on the cause.
  8. Those zoomie photos are totally precious. New World Positives: Cameras to take photos of our loved ones.
  9. Goes to show that Jellyblush and her Roo have become important to us. :D :)
  10. You'd leave your dog to go on a date. Where is the love and commitment, woman?
  11. I think that is what most of us work towards and there is good advice in this thread. I've been influenced (don't know if it is in this thread or another - too lazy to scroll through all the posts ) and was prompted to buy eucaluptus disinfectant a couple of days ago to put in the wash with the dogs' bedding, mats, collars, leads, harnesses. Great stuff. Cheap and not at all overpowering. I am pretty sensitive to perfumes and just about choke to death on some of the smells.
  12. But I love footy as well, I even buy doggy membership for Cougar, as I used to for Kenny. OK, I am nuts. Yes, but their point was people who loved their dogs too much. Not just people who love dogs. So it's fine there are people who love football .... but what about those who care too much? As in 'over the top'. Yeah, and beat referees to death because their team lost. Sorry - going right off topic, but I'd rather be obsessed with my dogs than over sport which leads to so much violence and criminality.
  13. If you had paid more attention to what was posted you would have seen that the times were PM not AM. I think it is time you just called it quits.
  14. WOW, Sugar is one solid little lady .... and very beautiful.
  15. Definitely wall mounting material there. As to the tear in the eye, I don't have the photographic proof, but yesterday I heard Bunter making the noises he usually makes when he is rolling around on a mat probably with a bone underneath him :D, looked around the doorway and there was Tamar egging him on to play, and he was responding. Yep, tear in DD's eye as well.
  16. That's not a Chihuahua! That's a Teacup Wolf.
  17. Lovely story, Muttrus. Couple of points: whoever told you he didn't much like it outside, needs to be given a reality check. A Great Dane or a Chihuahua ..... first and foremost they are dogs!! Annoying Lily: in the right home, she would probably be as good as Buttons - so sad. That said, Buttons sure is lovely. With a couple of baths and ongoing flea prevention his coat will soon be perfect. Look forward to more updates.
  18. Kirislin, you take the most amazing photographs. But the best part is that they are photographs of dogs having so much fun.
  19.  A bit off topic, but years ago, I was out walking the dogs, rounded a corner and there, sitting on her doorstep waiting for her lift to the footy was a woman I was acquainted with, attired in all her football regalia: hat, scarf, t-shirt, etc etc. It was all I could do to keep a straight face. This woman was well past middle age - - - - Yep thats why I wrote that, Ive also observed people who are like that Most people have something they are really passionate and even obsessive about.. ours just happens to be our dogs Yeah, but I don't wear their collars and leads   ETA: That said, I remember years ago doing the evening walk, having a blue lead for one dog and a green lead for the other and realised I was also dressed in blue and green
  20. Yes, free to scream in supermarkets, fed on demand, annoy other people, have no control over emotions and think the world revovlves around them
  21. Sadly, that is a regularly held belief. Dogs pop out knowing how to sit, stand, walk on a leash, etc etc. Persephone, did your friend understand what you meant by a rescue dog? Maybe she thought you were referring to show dogs? Seems a very odd reaction to me.
  22. 23. Says it all really... perhaps it was there way of telling you to bugger off and go talk dog elsewhere This made me laugh. Honestly, Mantis, ditch the Footy Forum (they are probably all on drugs LOL) and take Cougar for a walk in her cooling vest.
  24. EdmundH. YOU were the one telling everyone "in your opinion" of course, that they were wrong. You came into a lighthearted thread with all guns blazing and when people didn't go WOW WOW WOW, this guy is tops, you get all huffy. You need to take a reality check, mate, and, if you want anyone to take you seriously or to even bother to read anything you post perhaps you might reconsider your posting style. Most people's dogs are not working dogs and, the last time I looked, my dogs were dogs and not humans. Anyway, for the others who, like me, are all wrong in feeding their dogs in the evening - LOL - I am about to have a late late breakfast and the dogs will have to do with a snack.
