I Made A Would Be Adopter Cry

You are so right - I had this very issue last year. Despite the family being totally fine, loving couple, happy children, etc, I knew the dog I was rehoming was not for them, just a bit older than I felt right for the children, not lively enough, not confident enough (and they had free ranging bunnies ). I knew that some other dog would be perfect for them and made suggestions that I hoped they followed up. They weren't happy and I wasn't happy having to do it either, but first and foremost, the match has to be a right as you can make it. -
This, of course, is the overriding concern and it would appear that the rescuers are quite cognisant of all these issues.

Dogs were originally in the wild too If only responsible people who care solely for the animal and not for status symbols adopt a fox, there probably isn't a problem. However, see the thread "Red Dog Driving Kelpie Dumping" .

I do see your point, Juice, but have to add that "the wild" has virtually diappeared across the planet.

I love mats, but can't have anything expensive or that can't be easily washed because of having a multiple dog house - LOL. I came across this site today, and immediately thought of the couple of shows I'd been too as a spectator and some of the flooring people had inn their marquees. www.fabhabitat.com.au I actually have a couple of polypropolene mats and they are great. Luckily for my bank account (although the mats are pretty cheap), none of the sizes offered suit my requirements.

LOL. Your description are too close to the sometimes truth to be completely funny. As I've said in other threads on this topic, there are from time to time people to whom you would not adopt a living creature. The lesson here, kayla1, is that you obviously did something correctly and, additionally, you were dealing with a person who, after the initial disappointment and anger, was reasonable, understanding and capable of looking at the bigger picture. -
For Sale/ Adoption :)

Again, I think people can be too picky. They are only small, honestly, I can't see them growing much. The poor OP needs help and needs it badly. Not much time left. Say what? They could end up 6 foot, imagine how much you will have to spend on food. Sorry. (Hangs head in shame.) I was only try to help -
Sometimes I have to move my dogs if they are touching or lying on top of me, but I have a very itchy skin to the extent I take anti-histamines daily or I'll scratch to the point of bleeding . Sheepskin has lanolin in it. Oh, I've just remembered!! Some years ago, a woman around the corner showed me a scarf she'd bought knitted of dog's wool. I did find it a bit scratchy. It was white and I think the contributor (LOL) was a Samoyed.

Red Dog Driving Kelpie Dumping

LOL. As for movies driving sales of all sorts of things, what about "product placement", eg having a character drinking coke, pepsi, whatever. Advertising works and a movie about something cute and cuddly or clever or endearing is advertising writ large. -
As I sit here reading and scratching like craazy, I have to ask: is it prickly against the skin? I nearly go nuts in woolly pullovers.

Nice car, Nekhbet

Quite right too  I hope Kibah's mumma is spoiling herself a bit too.
-
Ha ha ha - well do we know. But he is protective little soul too and has to make sure that all goes well in there  Do you still have any fosters for RWL? Yeah, we still have the Pancho man! Who has weaseled his way into my heart, the little bugger! Alas, I have to choose between failing and continuing to foster, so I have to put the greater good ahead of my own selfish desires and just pretend that he's mine until the right home comes along :) And that is the best you can do

Agree re being courteous, helpful etc. However I don't believe rescues send people to pet shops...people do that by choice, not by force. There are plenty of stories of successful adoptions, it's just that for whatever reason we don't hear as much about them on here. I meant that their attitude made people steer clear of other rescue groups and just go to a pet shop to avoid the hassle. Yes, there are 10s of thousands of successful adoptions over the years, but it doesn't hurt to give those rescue groups who are performing a bit of a help. -
See if Gillybob wants it.

You obviously got off lightly. Ams must have been desperate. :D :D Joking of course..... Shar Pei aren't your everyday sort of dog. It would seem for the number of stories that come on here that some rescue groups are being more than a bit precious. If they deem someone to be unsuitable whether for the particular dog they are enquiring about or whether they need to put some changes in place, eg fix fence/gate/holes in ground/sharp wire, they need to be open, upfront, courteous and helpful, rather than sending the people to a pet shop. -
My first thought   Max has turned us all into Pug Huggers Unforgiveable. Let's start an Aust Pei compaign.

Not a good idea. Diagnosis first, treatment second.
