Boofer From B Hill (imp 24 )
Loving my Oldies replied to ninahartland's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
From what perspective? Those who think - oh, how wonderful!!! Puppies? Those who think the pups should never have been born? Or what. Just curious because your post doesn't really indicate why you are appalled. Exactly right Trish. But let's be honest, here. Pups of any breed, unknown or known, sell more quickly than adults. -
I haven't had to use anything like these examples, but from the point of view of comfort, it looks as though the Walkabout would be the best. The others are straps and would probably cut into the dog, whereaws the Walkabout is a wide band which spreads the pressure.

7 X 1 Day Old Gsd Puppies Need A Mum
Loving my Oldies replied to Tazar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well done, Kanati. Your mum is in for a shock when "her" babies start growing !! -
How disappointing and very sad for you, Caz, that the media has given you the brush off. Perhaps you can publish your "review" on the salon's page as Kirislin has suggested?? It would pretty soon be taken down, but a few people might get to read it and be warned. Something else I just thought of: have you been in touch with Urban Animal? I doubt they'd publish the story, but they might do a story without naming names and give a contact for anyone wanting to know the name of the salon. If you put your report up here, we could all put it on our FB pages. It would spread like wildfire. I am sure everyone here wishes they could make your pain go away.

That is good to know, but their poor mum. Her people must be devastated. -
Thanks for this, I will give it a go, I'd prefer they just stayed away rather than trapping them. I've never heard of this. I'll give it a go as well. I could place little balls of camphor (or maybe hanging strips if they are made ??) on the inside of the fence where Tippy generally comes in and where my cat doesn't go.

I have already spelt out why her sage advice slipped past the electrical fencing in my mind. And, at the risk of having to spell it out yet again, this thread, nice or not, was started to get advice and experiences. By the way, what did you have for dinner tonight?

Pardon me, Greymate, your Wreckit is showing. :) :)

That part of her post was lost to me because of her talk about trapping. :) And she is one of those posters I don't pay a great deal of attention to because of her aggressive manner. I had to google to find what POCTA stood for. Thank you Trish.

Yes, Sheena, they don't worry me because I have been on DOL for a long time and I know the way they work, but my blood boils for those who come here seeking assistance and they are treated very poorly. There are several DOLers whose posts I generally never read because they aren't not posting to be helpful, they are posting to try to annoy the OP, others, and/or to show off what they think is their superior knowledge. It is pretty sad really, and mostly I just feel sorry for them; in my opinion, they are not even worth the extra 30 seconds it takes to click on the Ignore function. :)

I've just remembered: SASH, the Small Animal Specialist Hospital at North Ryde laid artificial turf as a place for them to take the hospitalised dogs for walks, wees and poos. The stench is absolutely unbelievable and how anyone could have authorised this is beyond my comprehension. Naturally is is cleaned and hosed down, but apart from its total unsuitability for such a high dog use, I would have thought it would be a huge breeding ground for infections and disease. The last time I went there, I had to absolutely steel myself to walk past it.
-
No, I didn't know that Trish, and that is exactly why I started this thread: to get people's advice and experience. Wreckit just loves living up to her name and all that was needed was a calm explanation as you have given, not snide and nasty. And, yes, I do realise that, at the end of all my queries, I may just have to live with the situation as it is. And that is absolutely fine and I will have to make adjustments to ensure that Gussy gets enough food. I don't understand and never will that people come to DOL to ask questions and a certain few, we all know who they are, always try to make out that the person asking the questions is stupid and ignorant. Well I'm here to tell you that I am not stupid, but yes, I am ignorant of very many things and the way to become "unignorant" is to ask questions. The only result posters of Wreckit''s ilk achieve is to make themselves appear nasty, impatient and ill mannered. And they worry me not a scrap.

Breaking It Down For The General Public

If a dog is up for adoption, ie stayed the required time for that particular pound from time of impoundment, that is what happens. What does EIO stand for? -
The Flood Dog That Miraculously Came Back To Life
Loving my Oldies replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
I hope so!!!! Makes me sad thinking of him nearly drowning. I don't think a doggie just brought back to life would have such beautifully pink tongue and gums. LOL -

Somerset Regional Council's internet will be going into meltdown with people pointing out the anomolies in this story -
Yes, I was interested in that too and was thinking of places to put it to deter Tippy, but inside my yard so would not be a problem for people walking by or visiting. Anyway, you can turn these things off, can't you?

That looks really lovely - great house too. (Quite off topic, but the photographer should be up for false advertising as it makes some of the rooms look huge, but the layout diagram says otherwise ) The best mulch I have found is Eucy mulch. The eucalyptus smell is lovely when first laid, but naturally, that seeps out of it after a while when exposed to sun and rain. Weeds do come through, but they are very easily picked out. Much easier than digging out of lawn and gardens which aren't mulched. I love the look of gravel paths (despite problems outlined in another topic ) and raking is a lovely relaxing pasttime. Very zen :D :D
