Hi Raz! This a complicated question (and answer)!- I'll sit down tonight and set out for you all how (I think, anyway) the RSPCA can do that... :) You'll discover, eschlachter, that the RSPCA is a law unto itself and spends squillions on it own, in-house lawyers to discredit anyone who tries to say anything that might expose some of their more unsavoury actions. -
I Saw This On Facebook 'great Idea"

That makes me feel sad, gsdog2. Do you/are you close enough to correct these people ... gently of course, just telling them Indi is a happy friendly dog. Those leads are a much better idea than the bandanas, because to most people a bandana is just something colourful and fun for a dog to wear. -

I understand that some people have difficulty discussing their own demise, but in today's culture of social media, 24 hour news cycles, etc etc it is hard to understand that people don't get the importance of others knowing their wishes, knowing where wills are, what arrangements they want etc etc. In my own case, I guess it comes from being a secretary and knowing the importance of having just about everything you say and do documented LOL. My executors both have copies of my will, but I am investigating the possibility of changing my executors. In any case, it is good to see a specialist lawyer come on board here, eschlachter (welcome) and maybe have more influence that just an ordinary poster might to encourage people to make solid arrangements. -

Another point to mention: I have a document in which I have given detailed information on my dogs and cat in regards to their personalities, their likes and dislikes, idiosyncrasies and foibles. Anything that might help with knowing what they are like and where they would fit in to other families. For instance, I have one little dog who goes ballistic when we encounter other dogs and how this can be controlled; another two who present as very timid, one who growls, but it is just a funny little habit he has and doesn't mean he is abut to take your hand off LOL. Anything that you think might help the animals and anyone who adopts them make the transition as smooth as it could possibly be for all concerned. -

Can I just stress again the importance and having these plans and hopes actually made legal in your wills. No amount of planning and talking holds water. You must make a will and in that will, as Cowanbree has done, have fends dedicated to the implementation of your wishes in regards to the pets .. Not only dogs. -
Yes! They must be physically and emotionally exhausted. My heart aches for them and for Cyan.

Whether you think you own nothing or not, anyone who dies intestate leaves a potential nightmare for those left behind. Aren't you in a partnership? That needs to be considered as well. :) ETA: If you work, you have superannuation. -
I've been following the FB page as well. The people must be exhausted. It is hard to believe that so many people can be out searching and no sign or her at all. It is a big big area and dogs can travel very quickly, particularly when they are scared and spooked. It must be such a harrowing thing to go through, for anyone who loses a pet or has one stolen. But to be involved in a smash they way these people were, they have to put their own shock and fears aside to concentrate on finding their dogs. Hopefully Cyan will be hungry enough to come out of hiding is that is what she is doing.

Don't leave it to hope and expectation. Make the arrangements formal via your will and bequests to cover. -
Hardly. But you have such strong views on this I thought you'd help a sister out  Thanks for helping prove my point by the way. Oh, people have strong views but when it comes to stepping up then that's another matter entirely. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and why you'd expect me to be knocking at your door. . But, as always, the health and happiness of my dogs take precedence over everything else and so off to tend to them :) and leave this thread to the degeneration that most of any substance take I think you are mistaking me for Jo. No, I was talking to both of you.

She was the last thought on mind last night. The accident happened on 2 April. How much longer could she go on?

This is getting stupid, but then how silly of me to expect more . . . . . so sad

That is fantasic news, LisaCC. You must be over the moon. And it is probably a good thing that Ruby waits to be put onto the bed, but more so, helped off. It is so nice to read of such a result.

I was asked in another thread what arrangements I have made for my dogs when I die. I knew this subject had been addressed on several occasions and because it is always timely to remind people, I have put some links here: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/192101-retirement-homes-for-dogs/page__p__4411022__hl__%22trust+fund%22__fromsearch__1#entry4411022 http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/169776-what-would-happen-to-your-dog-if-you-died/page__p__3765879__hl__%22trust+fund%22__fromsearch__1#entry3765879 http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/135367-is-your-dog-in-your-legal-will/page__p__2666456__hl__%22trust+fund%22__fromsearch__1#entry2666456

As sad as your losing Kenny is, I don't know what this has to do with someone asking for her dog to be killed when she died.
-
It doesn't mean that her statements should go undiscussed or unchallenged. It doesn't matter whether a person is compassionate or not, this is an open forum and as such views can be agreed with, disagreed with, discussed and challenged. Frankly, I don't believe your story belongs here, because your situation was as far removed for Toffee's as it was possible to be. :) DD go for your life as you appear to be running this thread. Sorry for even speaking about death and dogs. I have no idea what you are talking about Nic, but it appears I have offended you and I am sorry. What I meant is that Toffee was a healthy dog, in the prime of life. Annie was elderly and her health heavily comprised. And I don't recall you ever mentioned it, so only from what I recall, I don't believe your father asked for her to be euthanised when he died.

Pomeranian Missing From Bonner In Act

OMH!! Fantastic news. I hope the people who took her are prosecuted, but I imagine she was taken anonomously to the vet. -

Maybe, but it still doesn't make it right. Should not be the owners right IMO. This dog could've found another owner in need of an assistance dog. Selfish owner. Selfish AND cruel.
-
And of course you know, unequivocally, that Toffee did not experience pain or distress.
-
Your argument totally lacks logic and judgement. We are not discussing other people and other dogs. We are discussing the fact (one many posters are totally missing or deliberately avoiding simply so they can bang their own discordant drums) that a guide dog, healthy, happy, highly trained, in the prime of life was killed because of the arrogance, self centred and self rigtheous attitude of a poorly advised woman and her family.
