  1. Knowing Ruthless's skills, probably one word - LOL. Beautiful subjects, Ruthless. Jackson looks a honey
  2. That is just so good to see. It is wonderful how the media is more and more covering the work of animals in war.
  3. JozMan - look at what we are saying and what Teebs has said above. Are you not listening :) :) . You obviously want to spread your help, time and love for dogs around, but don't try to mix it all up. If you want to walk dogs for the RSPCA, well do that. If you want to start your own business, well do that. Keep your activities separate while you are learning. As I've said before and just about everyone has agreed with: build up your client base, don't mix up dogs until you know them (and with some not even then) and your clients and don't mix up unless clients agree. Get to know dogs and the different breeds, the different temperaments, little idiosyncrasies of the individual dogs. Look at this as a journey and start out walking carefully before you are leaping and running. :)
  4. Yes, I fully understand what juice is getting at and I am agreeing that it is sad. The dogs have a owner who is very lacking in just the basic skills.
  5. I agree. I'm plotting how to kidnap her. The colour scheme here has become a bit boring
  6. Not tracksuits, but I've just been delivered a huge bag of towels (which pounds and rescue groups always need) from a neighbour . Letterbox drops do work.
  7. Sorry to be so blunt, but from what Juice has said, it is because she is stupid. She is probably one of those people who thinks they know all there is to know about dogs. She also sounds a very angry person. Yes, this is how I feel after reading your posts. Poor dogs probably don't know whether they are Arthur or Martha. She needs training first, but I hate to imagine her reaction if you tried to help.
  8. An amazing photo and a story written with love and humour and respect.
  9. Well done, zoiboy Your dogs looks absolutely gorgeous and very laid back.
  10. It isn't negative to point out possible pitfalls, becks. :) You don't put a learner driver in charge of a road train. JozMan needs to establish his business, get to know his clients and their wishes and dogs and, most importantly, his own capabilities.
  11. . All my thoughts too, Rosetta  I approve of his going to a new home only because that makes room for another little needy one at your place, Westiemum :D :D
  12. I had to take Gussy Cat to the vet this afternoon, so I put a poster on their pin board. Just back from walking the dogs and dropping off note and poster into 40 letterboxes. It will be interesting to see if there is any response. I hope so - I've seen a few trackie daks around the place from time to time  .
  13. Just red this post, Polgara, and I was wondering how it is working out.
  14. I haven't read the while thread, but just had a thought as I was going to exit. Perhaps talk to your local butcher or one in Frankston about getting in beef, rabbit, kangaroo especially for you on, say, a monthly basis. Or to a wholesaler who may be prepared to send you smaller quantities. It must be so hard managing pets with food allergies because you cannot rely 100% on prepared foods not to have at least come in contact with some of the food the animal is allergic to.
  15. Agree with both these posts. I do wish people would read whole threads before launching into posts of mitigation Pockets, those people must be feeling cursed at the moment Thankfully you are their puppy breeder and have compassion and a hugely generous heart and so their pain may be somewhat assuaged by your care and support. Your boys Harley and Tig are such stunning creatures. I wonder if Tig has any sense of Harley having been at these people's home?
  16. Note to self: do not read DOL while having lunch, but if you must, be a bit more circumspect
  17. Off topic, but re your post, juice. My real introduction to dogs was when I became a volunteer dog walker at a small pound. I started off terrified, having never had anything to do in my entire life with big dogs and never been within spitting distance of a Rottie. They are definitely one my list of must have. In fact my fantasy is when I am a little old[er] lady and all my teeny weenies have gone to god, I will visit Grumpette and have her select two Rotties to wobble around the neighbourhood with me and be my protectors. Grumpette doesn't know that yet, but just going on the photos she posts. . . . . .  Yes, regarding the heat of the day. Sometimes, at the pound, the walkers would just get all the dogs out, go down to the park and sit around under a big tree. The dogs were more than happy. We used to also carry towels and wet them to keep the dogs cool.
  18. LOL. I haven't had a wee on the bed for years (OMG I hope I haven't jinxed myself), but I do wake up to the occasional vomit. If it happens through the night, it gets cleaned up and a dog fleecy thrown over the wet spot. Then into the wash in the morning. I don't have a doona and I have polar fleece blankets which are very easy to look after. Generally only one of the dogs buries herself under the blankets. I throw dog fleecies over the bed so the dogs have something to burrow Into if they want to. I think they probably have a discussion as to whose turn it is. :D Oh how I can relate to Point B. ----- looking at my lounge sofa covered in a blanket which is covered in dogs hair. Time to change the blanket.
  19. OMG Janey that is my area! Patrol that park at least once a week for work :) will keep an eye out :) How is it that someone who lives in Wagga Wagga, patrols a park in St Ives? Or in knowing only the St Ives in northern Sydney, am I not stretching the geographical net wide enough ? Haha yes I have moved to North Syd now. I am the Companion Animal Management Officer for Ku-Ring-Gai council :) ill have to update my DOL location soon ;) Thanks goodness. I thought I was going to have to report Google LOL. So I think you should start a thread regaling us with some of the adventures you must have with that job.
  20. Sorry to put a downer on your idea, but if you are walking dogs for clients or pet sitting, you need to be concentrating on those dogs and not having one of your own along. Apart from the fact that some of the clients you work for probably won't appreciate your dog coming along with you, and/or they may have dogs/cats/other animals who don't take kindly to strange dogs coming into their homes. You need to think of your clients' wishes first. In the course of getting to know clients and their animals, you may meet some dogs who would love to have a play or walk with yours, but until that relationship is established, it is not a good idea.

  22. So good to have an update, nawnim, and to learn that your dog is now happy and active again. But the above did make me feel for you and Lottie again and to know how hard it can be to lose a loved one. Thank you for updating us.
  23. Take the dog to the nearest vet for scanning and, if the vet clinic doesn't do it, ring a ranger or take the dog to the pound. Apart from trawling all the streets in your neighbourhood, the first place you'd go if your dog was lost was to the pound.
