  1. God I hope not, having seen Burkes' post as well. Exactly the sorts of people who should not have animals.
  2. OMG, that poor boy. And he would get the blame for any biting and other reactions to his pain. Thank goodness he found you.
  3. Burkes, I was fostering a little dog a while ago who had a terrible cough, which I was told was Kennel Cough. She'd come from another carer who couldn't cope, so had been left with this cough for a few weeks. I practised ear slides on her and was able to stop the cough in its tracks LOL. Digressing somewhat, at my insistence because the cough was so bad, the rescuer took the little dog to the vet, and they discovered a tumour . I was so angry. However, again at my insistence, she wasn't euthanised immediately which the rescuer and vet wanted to do, but found a home where she was happy, loved and cared for for another year.
  4. I am quite sure that DAS will be assessing this dog and I think from Keetamouse's post one could assume that pulling on the collar resulted in the dog attempting to bite - I know I did. Frankly, if I had a dog that something triggered a reaction like that, I would be straight off to the vet to check the dog over to ensure that the dog didn't have a wound or a tender spot. Now the dog is out of the hands of people with little understanding (only going on what has been posted), I hope he will thrive. ETA: Even if the a dog reacted like that and there wasn't anything obvious causing it, why would you continute to do that to the dog. Find another way of getting him out of the garden. Dogs are human too - why provoke and push all the wrong buttons. :D :D :D
  5. Auto correct on the iPad is pretty too.
  6. OMG I would love to see that. Tell Shannon I was asking after her.
  7. Certainly sounds like it, Tintin . And now that he is with DAS, he will get it.
  8. Wonderful, tlc. I love Mawson's dogs. How is Migaloo? Those photographs are very very special.
  9. Oh I know, and it's intended to be the trashy type of controversy. It actually used to be better and have more funny "adult" topics, but then they switched hosts to some random non-celebrity and it just went stupid and trashy. Stupid and trashy ...... unfortunately the vast majority of television seems to be that.
  10. There is a world of difference between controversial and playing to the lowest common denominator. Q&A for instance. Lots of divisive issues raised on that program and handled with intelligence and care.
  11. Another thread on this program seems to well and truly support my conclusions about the show and the presenter.
  12. Oh dear, please have a look at the thread called "Basket of Puppies".
  13. Agree. Particularly the point made about the DOL bubble. The reality is that the show is a representation of public opinion. Why not take an opportunity to influence that opinion? I hope a rescue or breeder grabs the opportunity and that the producer works a way in for some subtle promotion. Let me stress that I am not bagging Lorem in the slightest; on the contrary, I am very glad this issue has been raised. However, I am stating very strongly that I think the idea stinks LOL and I think the above posts are the naive ones :). Of course, I understand what you are saying, but the thing is to try to influence or educate you have to pick your arena. A show which cares only for ratings and has a presenter who doesn't seem to have much control over herself and just plays everything for laughs is not the place. Caveat: I am basing this on having seen but one short snippet of one show. But because I watch The Biggest Loser which is on before Can of Worms, I do see advertisements so there may have been a more considered approach to some issues, but going on some of the posts here from people who have seen more of it than it have, it doesn't seem so. The DOL Bubble?? I have stated before in regards to Rescue that some people think everything that is happening in Rescue is on DOL when nothing can be further from the truth. However, this forum has thousands of members, many of whom register and are never seen again. But there are many who read and never post. I don't think DOL is a bubble.
  14. Fingers crossed indeed. I'll keep watching the other thread. (Still worthwhile to have a look at TTouch :D )
  15. All the jeep ads are strange LOL.
  16. That's right, Kirislin. I was thinking of the photo you posted last night as I lay in bed scratching and stroking my cat, Gussy. My thoughts then wandered to Tellington Touch in general and a recalled reading that Linda started out on horses. And then I thought about your Pagan and wondered whether TTouch might help with that dreadful abscess. If your friend is not in your area any more, just google to find a horse practitioner.
  17. What a cutie. Good ole RSPCA. "All creatures great and small" ..... providing they come with a donation. No authority! What a load of shite.
  18. I just hope the whole idea is thrown out. She should not be around animals of any sort. I don't even know her name LOL.
  19. OMG! What a tool. She needs counselling.
  20. Did you read my post? The presenter was cracking up at the thought of a woman having her guide dog killed and joining her in her coffin. She was leading the audience and team in thinking it was hilarious.
  21. There are so many wonderful and uplifting stories in this thread. I really salute all the people and their dogs who do this vital "work".
  22. Having seen but a snippet of one show, there is no way in the world that I would be letting that woman, her audience or her guests within a 100 yards of any puppies (or dogs) I had responsibility for. Perhaps you can ask your producer friend to call me - LOL. Funnily enough, I haven't been able to get it out of my mind and was considering writing to the producers, but I figured I would be ignored or fobbed off as some dour old spoil sport. I can still see clear as day, the audience literally rocking back and forth in their chairs laughing their heads off. What chance do we have for a more caring and decent society when these are the sorts of programs that are being pushed.
  23. If I was a friend of the producer I would be hitting her around the ears with a very large stick preferably studded with nails. Because it followed on from The Biggest Loser, I decided to watch it one night and hey, guess what, they were asking questions about what to do with animals when you don't want them any more or die. Gosh, what a funny topic, everyone was laughing hysterically before the first question was asked. The story from the UK of the Guide Dog who was killed because the owner requested that in her will came up. [see thread in the "in the news" forum.] Well, I didn't know until I watched this program, but that a really really funny story. Ha ha ha Guide Dog killed because owner asked for it in her will. Ho ho ho, ha ha ha. Well it must have been because the ghastly presenter was laughing her head off and the audience was rocking. Disgusting.
  24. PAWS has a page on its website for private rehomings. I haven't looked at it for a long time, but I think it is just a place for people to expose their dogs, PAWS doesn't get involved. Could have changed; don't know without checking.
