  1. It is all part and parcel of being on the internet. Heck, I received an email the other day from, Ben Bernanke Chairman of the Federal Reserve [uSA]. He must have heard that I can add up pretty well without a calculator and wanted to give me lots and lots of lovely money.  ETA: If I am asked to Unsubscribe from something I haven't subscribed to, I don't, I just delete.
  2. Yes, I used to see it a lot when I was a member of a training group.
  3. I see you like little dogs, then.  He is beautiful. May Jake look down and guide him.
  4. I don't know about following them to the ends of the earth - LOL - but what you have observed is something that has always interested me too. You see dogs who owners simply have no control over or very little and then along comes a good trainer and you see a completely different dog. I have always put it down to knowledge, experience and confidence on the part of the trainer and the dog knowing that he or she is in the hands of a confident handler who is THE BOSS. So many people just don't have a clue and even if they do, they don't have the confidence, experience or knowledge to be able to put it all together for the betterment and benefit of the dog.
  5. Gosh I thought we were going to have to bail you out of a prison cell
  6. Wonder if I'd be allowed in if I took my dogs ...... all rescued from pounds
  7. I had a look at their FB page and from that looked up the website of an organisation called Starfish Animal Resue in Baulkham Hills. Under "Our Partners" are all USA centres. I was trying to find out who started/runs the organisation Anyone know anything about them?
  8. Flyers in shop windows and on street poles as well.
  9. This is the horrible horrible part. I hope will all my heart she is found soon, safe and well.
  10. F*** F*** How bloody tragic. Thank god he is now in foster and with the added bonus of being with litter mates.
  11. How is the trial working out, Ruthless? Hopefully a match made in heaven.
  12. I believe the same about my dogs. I have always said that provided they were given the same love and attention they get from me they would be happy. But that doesn't mean they don't feel love or are incapable of feeling it. Sure, they don't lie down at night with a big sigh and think, "Gee I love my mummy," because they "speak" dog not English or whatever the language of the person is. Their love (and lots of other emotions .... virtually all you could think of) is expressed in ways other than words and often, I think, so much better than humans do. And that is the way it should be
  13. Really? Get over it and stop picking a fight. So asking for where the scientific data is and wanting to clarify a point is picking a fight? Frankly, I find quite laughable (in a sad sort of way) the statements that some people make and most of the time couldn't care less. But when they profess to have it on scientific evidence and then can't produce that evidence, well sure you have to wonder? And when they say dogs are incapable of love and then say "Boof loves....." But, if that is picking a fight, well so be it.
  14. I think we know what Anthropomorphism is, Anne. As I said, it is long time since saying someone is "guilty" of anthropomorphism is a put down. If human beings consider themselves a higher intelligence, they should have the intelligence to know that there are more things they don't understand than they do.
  15. I don't see why you should be confused. You said that it is a scientific fact that dogs don't have complex emotions. If you are going to state something categorically, you shouldn't get tetchy because someone asks you to show you where those scientific reports are.
  16. Hang on. I thought you just said dogs weren't capable of feeling love. I think just about any one who had worked with dogs with an open mind would disagree with you. It is a long time since labelling someone anthropomorphic has been seen as a put down.
  17. Yes, they were all pretty well just very tired and sleepy dogs and cats..... the last one wasn't very nice at all, poor dog.
  18. Whilst I don't believe it is necessarily a recipe for disaster, management of a "situation" can be extremely stressful. It requires constant vigilance 24/7 and this in itself can be exhausting. Being on the alert all the time ...... too difficult. You are aleady in a stressful situation, you are planning on bringing in a stranger to your settled and ordered life. That in itself is enough to handle. Keep looking for a housemate who will blend in with you. There is going to have to be many adjustments on all sides, the last thing you need to be worried about is whether dogs will get along. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.
  19. So you don't believe dogs have an ability to love their people? They are just being pragmatic and self serving?
  20. How do I love thee Let me count the ways Say I as I put boiling water in their food bowls to warm the bowls
  21. Brilliant. Compassionate, understanding, blame free, wise.
