  1. I'm not surprised. Why are people so gutless and nasty. Why not just come over and speak to you. Some years ago, the first I knew there was a problem with a rescue was a call from council. I'd just returned home from rehoming this dog to find the card in the letterbox telling me to phone the ranger. He was very nice - "let slip" it was a man calling but naturally did not divulge who. I dropped a little note into all the neighbours' letterboxes apologising for the disturbance, advising them that I thought the culprit was the little dog I'd rehomed and to please let me know if the barking continued. I had a few people come up to me to say they'd never heard the dogs, one couple who said the barking prevented them from sitting outside in their front yard and a few more who said, "It wasn't me."  It is a truly horrible feeling, Westiemum, and I do sincerely sympathise. I'd continue the way you are, going around and speaking to people, and perhaps follow-up with a note to all the neighbours. Good luck.
  2. Sorry for your family's loss, Loraine. .
  3. Such a sad sad shock to read this Jennabub. You must be devastated. So much love and care went into keeping Gnarla and her pups safe and to lose Koda so early
  4. I think the thread title refers to the life of the child "its life" , not calling the child an it.... I hope you aren't a teacher because you are totally wrong :)
  5. Good to know that you were impressed with SASH. And, yes, it is hard to see the other animals injured, sick, in pain, but at least with places like SASH, they are offered the best treatment.
  6. I have no idea how old the OP is, but she is sure getting a lesson from those who should know better in negativity, turn a blind eye, pointless to try to help, etc etc etc. Congratulations.
  7. So that makes it okay to do nothing No, it makes it pointless to do anything. You grow up in the country and you learn when to say something and when to keep your mouth shut. These farmers love and appreciate their dogs, they've just been raised to train them this way. Educating the younger generation is how I'm combating this, rather then calling the RSPCA who never come out anyway. I wasn't aware that a Dalmatian was a working dog . When a man abuses a woman and tells her he loves her, it is a domestic violence offence. When a farmer abuses his dog, it is called love and appreciation. Sorry - don't buy it. not saying that - rather being devil's advocate. Considering that a Devil's Advocate was originally someone appointed by the Vatican to see whether someone deserved to be a saint or not, I don't really have much faith in devil's advocates. I have a niece who hallenges just about everything you say and then says she is just being devil's advocate. What it boils down to is an excuse to do nothing and to come out on neither side.
  8. I might be, but the dogs are all filed separately. :D
  9. OMG! You are worse that I am then, Boronia.
  10. So that makes it okay to do nothing I'm surprised and shocked that you seem to be just shrugging and saying, c'est la vie, persephone. Exactly. Reporting something can be very scary, but it is the decent thing to do.
  11. God I am so sick of the response: there is nothing we can do. Why not something along the lines of: That is terrible and we will definitely have a presence in the park and also put up some signage. Are you and your dog alright? Airlock, that must have been so frightening for you and your dog and I hope you both recover well. The importance of taking a dog to the vet after such an incident is that there is a record on their files of the incident having taken place.
  12. I phoned my doctor this morning as I was having a rather unpleasant reaction to some medication she'd prescribed. I gave the message to the receptionist and told her that when I'd had the script filled, the vet said it could cause this. Silence on the end of the line ........ until I realised what I'd said.
  13. I wouldn't be too sure. To enter someone else's property and kick their dog in broad daylight is pretty extreme!! Yes. If it is happening, I can't see a padlock being a total defence. Definitiely go ahead with the cameras. Seems a funny state of affairs, though. I hope you get to the bottom of it - very unsettling for you.
  14. Hopefully many very happy years ahead, Inka.
  15. Oh Behluka: your two legged boys are growing into such handsome people . Luke is a young man already. I'm a bit worried about this apparent love affair between a dog and a camel. What on earth will be the result.
  16. I just LOVE this photo, koala. It is as though she is thinking: I'll just copy the others and I'll be okay.
  17. Shoot! If that doesn't bring a happy tear to anyone's eye, I don't know what would. Lovely, Koala. You must (and should) be so proud. I love your idea of keeping the scared dogs in the kitchen with you while you work. Saturation therapy.
