Beautiful to see pups having such a good time and doing what they evolved to do .... jump and run like the wind. -
O M G! Calendula Tea Rinse
Loving my Oldies replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Jeez, I need some now. Something is definitely not "right" - look at the time (it is an hour later in Sydney). I am turning into an insomniac ..... and itching like crazy. I think I'll make a bathtub of CT and the dogs and I will sit and soak   -
Yes, totally adorable. He's a little Badger.

O M G! Calendula Tea Rinse

Can't wait to start it on the dogs  . I doubt I'll be able to drink it - I've tried many herbal teas over the years and find them really awful. I'm a strong tea with sugar, milk and a splash of cream gal -
Ha ha ha - trying to work with a new puppy to look at.

Understood, Judy69, and good for you for trying to help. But your friend seriously needs to see another vet or specialist and not medicate until she has a diagnosis.
-
. Sorry, but that is about as wrong as can be, and more so without a diagnosis

Am I In The Right Section?

I had a little LH Chi some years ago. Tiny with huge inguinal hernias, blind in one eye and eventually blind in the other. So neglected . Her personality was as big as she was tiny. Still miss her -

Thanks Erny. They were groomed a month ago and although that time I forgot, I generally take my own Aloveen Shampoo to the groomers. I will clip off the knots made from their biting and scratching and just use the tea. BTW, would it work on me? Only half LOLing. I generally take an antihistamine a day for my itchy skin and alergy prone self. I ran out about a week ago, keep forgetting to buy some more and today I am itching in concert with the dogs. I feel as though I have bitey ants running over my arms. -

A Topic I Read On Fb About ' Rescues'

Because people tell lies, self aggrandise, perpetuate myths, etc etc etc. Happens all the time on DOL where there are enough people who should know better. -
Peppi From Cootamundra

I've never had a vet tell me to feed a recovering dog (from anything) only dry. Quite the opposite . It's usually the chicken and rice mixture. -
We doggy people are nuts - getting all excited about a complete stranger getting a new puppy.  Wouldn't have it any other way.

My tea is on its way - ordered through Steve's website. I imagine it will be accompanied by an information sheet/brochure, but in the meantime, I'm wondering whether I should bath the dogs as per usual and then rinse with tea. Being toy breeds, a couple long haired, they get a bit grubby running around a large garden and going for walks. A couple of them have been itching to the extent of biting themselves and scratching. No fleas, so I am putting it down to the heat. -
Poor friend and her dog. If I went to a vet who didn't know what was wrong with my dog and didn't suggest other ways to find out, eg consulting other vets, talking to specialists, researching, I'd be finding another vet. Not always easy depending on where someone lives.

"A rose by any other name .. . . . . ." etc etc. The knowledge that there are organisations which take dogs from pounds and put them into to foster care is slowly being disseminated throughout the community and, with that, has come the term "rescue". If people ask where my dogs came from, I tell them: over the years, some I have adopted straight from a pound, a couple I took from pounds intending to rehome, but funnily enough that didn't happen, some I was fostering and became foster failures. There is no doubt that if it weren't for people setting up rescue organisations, thousands more dogs, cats and other animals would die in pounds, so in that case I think the term "rescue" is totally valid. As for vets giving discounts: all the vets I've been associated with have done this and, although I am no longer rescuing or fostering, my vet still gives me a small discount. Some vets are like other organisations and give pensioner discounts. But I cannot imagine asking a vet for a discount because of the animal's provenance. -
How exciting.

Incontinence Is Back Again...
Loving my Oldies replied to Nicole0611's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm interested in this subject, too. I've started Tamar (approx 10 years old, Maltese Shih Tzu cross) on Propaline. The first time I tried it, after a couple of days (ie 4 doses, tiny) I notice she was acting a bit strangely. On vet's advise I stopped it and they were researching some other medications. I started her again on Propaline a few days ago and she seems fine, but last night she had a really big leak, luckily on her bedding and not mine. As she sleeps on my bed and tends to move around through the night, I really want a solution. I know some dogs are really upset about incontinence, but it certainly doesn't worry Tamar . -

Support For Breeder Community Dolers

Just taken another look at the Breeders Community forum, Jed, and it says no to starting a new topic as well as posting in an existing thread. And I will repeat: I completely understand why this is so, I have no hidden agenda and have not wish for the rules to be changed :) :)
