Support For Breeder Community Dolers

Ooooohhhh That is too beautiful. I guess you have the routine all sorted by now. You must be exhausted. -
LOL Cheys232, if you continue with DOL, you will find that even perfection is not enough for some people. The fact that you came and asked questions the moment you had doubts should speak volumes for people about how you are going about getting a puppy. I really hope everything turns out well for you and before too long a lovely little, lucky puppy will have joined your family.

Poor Greyhounds At Healesville
Loving my Oldies replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
probably collecting their dividends and gleefully rubbing their hands together every time a dog dies, at least that way it's one less that they have to kill. I wouldn't go as far as this, but I certainly understand why you feel this way. Just too sad. I once asked someone why he didn't go into politics and he said that he didn't know whether he would be able to hold out against "the system". I guess this happens to a lot of people who join organisations hoping to do some good, such as, I am sure, many people associated with RSPCA. -
Why? Read my other posts in this thread. And Steve's post above.

God knows what you think of the horse exhibitors in long boots, tie or stocks, black jackets and velvet hats. No one is forced to "dress up" but some choose to dress to a higher standard to show respect for the judge and to showcase their dogs. To each their own. I'm certainly one of the suit brigade. If people think I look stupid or ridiculous, I'll still sleep at night. I also have quite a few suits and I enjoy dressing up for shows. I rest my case

Insert every expletive known. All they care about I'd the f****ng money. Where is the bloody RSPCA? -
I couldn't agree with you more, Sandra777. I have been burned and spurned more times than I care to remember, but somehow I still keep hoping that humans are basically decent and honest. If there is the slightest chance that this "breeder" is just ignorant, ill advised by her vet, I'd be pursuing it in the hope of saving mum and any future pups from that. I am certainly not telling the OP to turn a blind eye and take her pup. Quite the opposite. I am saying investigate, investigate, investigate.

Sorry double post

If I were in the OP's situation, I'd be doing everything possible to take a visit and to see and assess the situation with my own eyes.

Incredible Athelete, The Italian Greyhound

People are so clever and funny. I'm hard pressed to go with one particular sport, but I think High Jump has it for me. -
I'll be generous and think perhaps inexperience and a degree of panic may have been a factor ..... unacceptable - but possible . This is what stops me from telling the OP to RUN!! The "breeder" needs education and a better vet. What are the chances that she really is a concerned persons who is not getting good advice? Let's face it, there are plenty of really good people who honestly believe that their dog is so beautiful she or he should be bred from. They have no idea of the numbers of animals who die in pounds, who languish in pet stores, who are badly bred and suffer the consequences of health issues all their lives. Is this breeder up for an education and advice from experts?

I would be following up on Starkehre's post and checking on this person, not with a view to hurt her, of course, but to do the best for the puppies and their mum.
-
How sad She doesn't sound very committed to the job of puppy rearing. Hopefully others who are getting pups are as concerned as you are.

  I think judges and dog handlers look ridiculous in their suits and stockings. Why they don't wear neat casual clothes is beyond me. Racing around a grassed ring, out in the open, in a suit, stockings, and quite often, joggers/trainers/tennis shoes is a pretty stupid look in my opinion.

Well, I'm pretty chuffed. I saw a very strange looking dog at one of the vet stands (represented were SASH, ARH and Greencross and I can't remember which) and correctly guessed the mix: Aussie Shep and Basset. In the cat section there was this %@#@ woman leading her terrified cat around on a leash. I think the cat was a Sphinx. Some of the cats were so hot - I saw water in only one crate and why on earth do they put them on satin, a fabric that doesn't breathe? I told a woman who was obviously an official that one cat had its mouth open and was gasping. She looked around for about a nano second and said, "Oh he's fine." I protested again and she said she check when she had time.

A recommendation for anyone attending the Pet Expo. Many years ago at one of these, I bought a can of Bright's Natural Bees Wax. I bought another at last year's Gardening Show and if they are there this weekend, I will be buying another. It is a fantastic conditioner and healing balm. Disclaimer   I haven't any financial interest; just think it is a great product and worth having in the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen bench, garage.

LOL, she knows we are talking about her. I looked down at her lying in a basket and she has her head resting on the edge with her big round eyes turned up staring at me. Sorry K - OT   Blame T.

I can understand that, K, but you have to be strong for Neko. People are always wanting to pay Tamar who, even at 10+, still looks like a puppy. She is very timid and when people come up to me (mainly because I am walking at minimum 3 dogs mostly 5 :D :D ) wanting pats, I tell them to stay away from Tamar because she is timid. Given time and when she sees the others getting pats, she often approaches people. Neko and you have a wonderful life together with all the other dogs - if one part of her isn't working in some way or other, frankly, does it matter? :) :) :)

Looking After My Old Girl After Surgery
Loving my Oldies replied to larasmum's topic in Aged Dog Care
And I'll bet she feels the same about you -
I would imagine the woman is the pack leader ... as it should be :D
-
Poor little dog - not very happy wherever he may be. I wonder how much that gear weighs?
-
I did wonder about that. I loved the way they both came running together.
-
That was BRILLIANT ---- loved the puppies.

Looking After My Old Girl After Surgery
Loving my Oldies replied to larasmum's topic in Aged Dog Care
She'll probably cope better than you   . I'm sure you will get very detailed instructions from your vet and there are many DOLers who have been through surgery with there animals who will pop in with excellent ideas. Good luck. Your girl sounds awesome.
