VET! Immediately. You don't mess around with eyes. Might be nothing, might be enough to end up with your dog losing it.

I used to think that when I was a doddery old biddy and all my littlies have gone to god, I'd totter around the neighbourhood with a couple of elderly rotties in tow, but I think it will be Greyhounds. On the other hand, I might pop off before all the littlies. Plenty of rescue groups wouldn't adopt to me now, I am so ancient LOL, so god knows what the chances would be in some years' time. However, I did see a story on FB a week or so ago about a 94 years old man adopting a Grey because he was so lonely without his doggy mate who'd died. Benny is a total sweetheart - so easy going, a really delightful companion. Already very attached to Brandiandwe :)

Fatty and Slim at Parramatta Park.

I keep checking that all the dogs are inside. I have a huge turpentine and so does the side neighbour. Never thought anything would come in from the back neighbour.

Can't help you with lens problems, hardly know what a lens is but hope you recover quickly. Look after yourself. Fallin can be a shock to the body and delayed symptoms can result. -
Creating A Detangling Spray
Loving my Oldies replied to kamuzz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Totally off topic LOL, but I was talking about you yesterday, Kamuzz, telling Brandiandwe about when you fostered King Wally and I took Honey to the airport. I've forgotten all the details now, but will never forget the photo of King Wally reclining on the couch and Honey's beautiful eyes. I don't know the detangling "recipe" you are asking about, but some time ago the groomer down the road from me gave me a bottle of The Wiggles Dorothy's Dancing Detangler. Obviously with a name like that it is for children but works well on dogs too. :) -
I will be investigating Parramatta Lake as well. Cafe there too.

Yes, I saw Stan was complaining about not being able to keep up with Mads .... and it looked pretty sunny then. Stay safe everyone

It just happened in a few seconds. Not there one moment and there the next. I didn't hear a crack of the branches at all, so whether they'd already broken and were waiting for a strong enough wind, I don't know. Yes, Persephone, back neighbour's Jacaranda. It was pruned not so long ago, obviously not enough. U

The clouds are gathering and the day is closing in so I thought I'd take the dogs for a quick walk. We made about 100 yards when I decided it was too dangerous. Lots of huge trees, wind going nuts, whirlywinds all over the road and the final straw was when I stopped to pick up a doggy do heard a great crash and looked up to see a branch bouncing of a parked car. Reached home, unclicked leads and three dogs raced off upstairs. Jeune decided to wander around the back yard and stopped to do a poop. I went down the back to get my trowel, turned back and saw this in the back yard. Jeune was frozen to the spot less than a couple of feet away, luckily unhurt.

A diva?? He'll start having gender confusion LOL. So pleased to hear he wasn't limping. Because there are so many issues and bad experiences with Off Leash Parks, I'm glad it is on leash. As I said, there is so much room, dogs are able to walk freely and don't have to be off leash to enjoy themselves.

Yesterday I visited Parramatta Park to meet Brandiandwe and Benny the Greyhound who is now officially known as BBB (Big Beautiful Benny) Oh gosh, it was just a beautiful day - the Park is gorgeous: huge, wide open spaces, walking tracks as well as roads, cafe and restaurant, plenty of parking inside the park. Water birds everywhere. I learned that some cute as plump little birds are White Tailed Water Hens. Just thought I'd put it out here that it is really worth a visit with the dogs (didn't check if it is off leash), but it doesn't need to be really. Note: that's a weekday. I've no idea what it is like on a weekend, but it is so big I imagine it would still be fine (in terms of taking your dogs, I mean).

11 Year Old Greyhound In Renbury
Loving my Oldies replied to HazyWal's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Thanks VM He is a lovely boy. You'll have to join us one day, as I am hoping there will be more days to enjoy like yesterday. Next time, I intend to bite the bullet and take Tamar. She is an SFW and timid at the best of time and freaked if taken out without her family, but the area is so beautiful, that I know she'd love it and BBB is so friendly, I think she'd relax after a while. -

I am putting cottonwool in my ears to stop the sounds of the jealous gnashing of teeth, but I have met and walked with and had my photograph taken with the glorious Benny. Brandiandwe took Benny to Parramatta Park so I could meet him and get some much needed soul salving. Benny is the man for that What a lovely laid back boy he is and what a Greyt Grey Owner is Brandiandwe. I learnt that his teeth don't chatter because he is cold, but rather he is happy LOL. He was much admired by passers by who actually couldn't pass by, but had to stop and talk. He met a couple of little dogs, a bulldog with the strangest bark (debarked ??) tried to tell him off (that was while you were in the cafe, Brandiandwe), but no reaction from BBB (Big Beautiful Benny) at all. It was a lovely couple of hours, thank you so much Brandiandwe and BBB. Anyone else looking for a beautiful spot to walk your dogs, Parramatta Park is tops. Really lovely. I'm happy for pix to go up as proof LOL. -

Mooch City Is Miserable: Myrtie Very Sick
Loving my Oldies replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
The kindess of your words helps though. Never underestimate this. Thank you VM. That is exactly right, but the words wouldn't come to me. The messages posted here over the past week have meant more to me than I can say. The tears are here again as I type these words, but I know there will be a time when I remember and think of Myrtie with only smiles. But not yet. -

Mooch City Is Miserable: Myrtie Very Sick
Loving my Oldies replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks, Sir Snook. As you would know with all the fun things you do with Justice, in the course of even one day, there are so many almost rituals we go through with all our dogs ..... walking up, checking on where all the dogs and Gussy Cat are, making sure I haven't squashed Myrtie through the night, then the feeding arrangements, the paroxysms Myrtie used to carry of with getting ready for our walks, and the list goes on, all through the day. I miss her terribly. -

Forget about the goodies .. I want the little scruffy love bug first in second row. -
I'm thinking of moving to Adelaide just to be close to LLDR. :). And then I'd be closer to WA, too.

Between Poppy and Stella (a little dog Yellowgirl has at Little Legs Dog Rescue), definitely a case of cuteness overload and Want, Want, Want.

So so beautiful. My first thought, too, was a bit of Papillon --- until the photo of her stretched out on her back LOL. She is totally gorgeous and your crew must be wondering what's hit them. These little dogs can be huge personalities. Couldn't be a better story CC

Mooch City Is Miserable: Myrtie Very Sick
Loving my Oldies replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
Funny story with photographic proof at the end. As you will probably gather from my DOL name, Danny is my "velcro" dog. I was sitting at the dining room table a couple of weeks ago and he was lying on the floor beside my chair. He is approximately 15 years of age and should have those old bones protected, so I went and got him a little soft bed. The thing is, when I left the table, he followed me and Myrtie took her chance. She purloined the donut bed and Danny was just left standing there looking at me as though the world was coming to an end. So, his slave went and fetched another donut bed. When we left the table again, Bunter took his chance, onto the donut bed and, again, poor Danny, being a lover not a fighter, stood there expecting me to come to his salvataion .... which of course he did. Now this little charade went on through the day, until this is what we ended up with:
