  1. What!! And spoil some human's fun in order to preserve animals. What a shocking concept. But but but, we want to drive our big 4-wheel drives where we want. why should we care about dumb dingoes The very idea That's what it is all about

  3. Optrex from the chemist. 60/40 warm water/optrex and bathe eyes every day with cotton wool ball. Optrex is an eye wash and so washes the dust from the eyes and lessens aggravation which causes watering and staining. Good luck.
  4. Donatella, you need these: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/201346-this-is-more-for-me/page__p__4697055__fromsearch__1#entry4697055
  5. I think the only thing I've used has been Neocort, suggested by T when I was going crazy with itchies. Worked too. But when I went to the chemist she said not to use cortisone based creams if the skin is broken.
  6. OMG, Kirislin. What a shock to read this. Deepest sympathies to you. Your Penny was a delight with so much love shared and given. I recall when you first posted that "peeping around the corner photo" - so beautiful. You give people so much pleasure with your exquisite photography, and so many will be grateful for your gift when they see photos of their own from the fun days you attend.
  7. Yes, humans are stupid because they believe they are top dog and do not heed the rules that real dogs adhere to. And when something goes hideously wrong, they wonder why.
  8. Aren't they gorgeous? Don't know that any dog would use them though except to trash. I want the little model.
  9. That's what I was thinking too. Mine are sometimes in my bed & sometimes where ever they want or where I put them depending on the weather. No problems with them they are good & obedient. I think Dr Harry lost the plot a long time ago and has morphed into someone who not only believes his own publicity, but will say anything to ensure that publicity keeps on coming. And this can only be bad for animals.
  10. Thank you for all the suggestions and hope for improvement. Jeune's regime was tablets for four days and report to vet. Well on third day, couging was shocking and I was going to take her to the vet. However, I decided that there must have been a reason for four days, so persevered. Thursday was her last tablet and her coughing subsided quite markedly. Today, she gave a little cough on her first drink and that was the last of it. So off to the vet this afternoon to report because now Danny is coughing and throwing up . Jeune is on reduced dosage (prednisone) until Monday and Danny is on Doxycycline. Danny is also on Amilyllin for the rest of his life, so vet thought long and hard about what would be best for him. So this is the daily schedule of medications. Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Danny AM ½ tablet Amilyllin (lifetime) , ½ tablet Doxycyline (until Thursday 21) Danny AM eyedrop both eyes (lifetime) Bunter AM Linctus (until Monday 18) Jeune AM ½ Prednisone (until Monday 18) Tamar AM Propalin: Mon, Wed, Sat (lifetime) Bunter AM ½ Prednisone tablet: Mon, Wed, Sat (lifetime) Danny PM ½ tablet Amilyllin (lifetime) , ½ tablet Doxycyline (until Thursday 21) Bunter PM Linctus (until Monday 18)
  11. I think they start with your toes and work up? No it is definitely face first, because they like to lick eyes, ears and mouth. Might be goodies lingering there :D :D THAT'S my problem. My dogs are too quiet.
  12. That little kitty can boss me around any day.
  13. He has become a buffoon and does more harm than good.
  14. Oh wow! Great birthday celebrations. Go Nelson. Please tell me that Evie was given a cake
  15. How exciting. Jesse makes Jonah look small - ish. Best wishes for lots of happy times exploring.
  16. Yes, a lot of the time, I believe we do. But the same goes for a lot of things: children, work places, diet, exercise. Some people see a niche and exploit it. We all, including animals, suffer.
  17. Yes, good genes need to be supported by a good life. Penny has exquisite colouring.
  18. Danny's cough sounds a bit like kennel cough and he is elderly, so more susceptible, I imagine , but pretty sure Jeune's isn't. Such a worry .... five elderly pets and having just lost Myrtie to pulmonary hypertension, I feel a bit overwhelmed worrying about them at the moment.
  19. Gosh Mrs Wobble Dog is still a beauty K. And lovely that she still gets a fit of the youngsters. My Danny must be about 15 as well as I adopted him 12 and a half years ago. The pound had his birth date as approx Feb 1999. He plods around on his walks like an old old boy, but still leaps around like a spring lamb when I come home (or even if I've just collected the mail ). Seems there are a few 15 year old DOL Dogs around. Mac has just celebrated his and now it is time to say to ari.q's Nelson. to Nelson.
  20. Jeune has just had her last tablet of the series. I haven't heard her coughing this morning, so maybe she hasn't had a drink yet. I learnt when I had Danny at the vets a month or so ago, that older dogs can get softening of the oesophagus (and presumably the trachea as suggeted by Furkidsforever) and we did tests on Danny over a couple of weeks and he was fine. Unfortunately, he is now coughing like Jeune only he coughs generally without it being brought on noticeably by any one thing and he is not throwing up as he was at the time of his previous consultation. With Jeune it is only when drinking. Bunter was also coughing and he has been on linctus for the same period as Jeune had been on tablets and he seems to be fine now. So back to the vet with both Danny and Jeune.
  21. I saw this and was about to respond that we have ruled out Kennel Cough   She hasn't thrown up this evening, but even a little sip has her rasping.
  22. Lovely lovely photos, Westiemum. Your Mac is one fabulous little man ..... with a fabulous mum as well.
  23. I've never heard of thickened water. But will ask the vet.
  24. No, no other changes Westiemum. The vet gave her a very thorough examination, no lumps or bumps or anything that concerned him or was not normal. And they all wear harnesses when we go out walking and their collars are fabric and loose. Not sure what the next steps will be but will find out tomorrow.
  25. I have been to the vet who put Jeune on Prednisone for four days and then I am to report back. Tomorrow is the fourth day and, to date, she has not improved and, I think, is getting worse. She has had a hacking, dry cough, for a little while now and often brings up clear slimy liquid. She does this only while and after drinking, not generally or with food. I will be phoning the vet tomorrow, but in the meantime, just wondering about any other experiences.
