  1. Manuka Honey on the kitchen bench. What do I do now? Put a little bit in a bowl, dilute it, syringe it? I haven't heard Jeune cough today at all and in the past couple of days, the bouts have been decreasing in incidence and severity to just a little huh huh when she drinks, and no throwing up. Actually she hasn't thrown up for days. Even so I was out shopping and thought I would get the Manuka Honey just to have it at the ready.
  2. It is a very big commitment, so go with a Rescue group with experience, good reputation, paperwork all ready for potentials foster carers to sign (by that I mean not just quickly whipping something up). And remember, it is a partnership: you have to be committed to them and they have to be committed to you. And you both have to be committed to the dogs :)
  3. What a glorious dog. I hope she and her new family have many years of love and fun.
  4. It may resolve itself in time, Canetoad. I hope so, otherwise it is such a stressful thing to manage. My latest dog was a worry when they all had bones, because even if the other dogs simply walked past him, he'd fly at them, so I used to have to pick up all the bones if I was going out. That is now a thing of the past. Hopefully, once Jesse knows that the supply of bones won't dry up, she won't be so "resourceful".
  5. I believe it is arrogance and belief that we are top of the animal kingdom as it were. Our detachment from other creatures leads to ignorance, a case of not knowing (or caring) what we don't know.
  6. When my itches were are their worst, I used the slicker brush to scratch my arms. Not recommended unless desperate.
  7. So sad. Animals need to be protected from humans.
  8. What!! And spoil some human's fun in order to preserve animals. What a shocking concept. But but but, we want to drive our big 4-wheel drives where we want. why should we care about dumb dingoes The very idea That's what it is all about
  9. What!! And spoil some human's fun in order to preserve animals. What a shocking concept.
  10. Optrex from the chemist. 60/40 warm water/optrex and bathe eyes every day with cotton wool ball. Optrex is an eye wash and so washes the dust from the eyes and lessens aggravation which causes watering and staining. Good luck.
  11. Donatella, you need these: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/201346-this-is-more-for-me/page__p__4697055__fromsearch__1#entry4697055
  12. I think the only thing I've used has been Neocort, suggested by T when I was going crazy with itchies. Worked too. But when I went to the chemist she said not to use cortisone based creams if the skin is broken.
  13. OMG, Kirislin. What a shock to read this. Deepest sympathies to you. Your Penny was a delight with so much love shared and given. I recall when you first posted that "peeping around the corner photo" - so beautiful. You give people so much pleasure with your exquisite photography, and so many will be grateful for your gift when they see photos of their own from the fun days you attend.
  14. Yes, humans are stupid because they believe they are top dog and do not heed the rules that real dogs adhere to. And when something goes hideously wrong, they wonder why.
  15. Aren't they gorgeous? Don't know that any dog would use them though except to trash. I want the little model.
  16. That's what I was thinking too. Mine are sometimes in my bed & sometimes where ever they want or where I put them depending on the weather. No problems with them they are good & obedient. I think Dr Harry lost the plot a long time ago and has morphed into someone who not only believes his own publicity, but will say anything to ensure that publicity keeps on coming. And this can only be bad for animals.
  17. Thank you for all the suggestions and hope for improvement. Jeune's regime was tablets for four days and report to vet. Well on third day, couging was shocking and I was going to take her to the vet. However, I decided that there must have been a reason for four days, so persevered. Thursday was her last tablet and her coughing subsided quite markedly. Today, she gave a little cough on her first drink and that was the last of it. So off to the vet this afternoon to report because now Danny is coughing and throwing up . Jeune is on reduced dosage (prednisone) until Monday and Danny is on Doxycycline. Danny is also on Amilyllin for the rest of his life, so vet thought long and hard about what would be best for him. So this is the daily schedule of medications. Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Danny AM ½ tablet Amilyllin (lifetime) , ½ tablet Doxycyline (until Thursday 21) Danny AM eyedrop both eyes (lifetime) Bunter AM Linctus (until Monday 18) Jeune AM ½ Prednisone (until Monday 18) Tamar AM Propalin: Mon, Wed, Sat (lifetime) Bunter AM ½ Prednisone tablet: Mon, Wed, Sat (lifetime) Danny PM ½ tablet Amilyllin (lifetime) , ½ tablet Doxycyline (until Thursday 21) Bunter PM Linctus (until Monday 18)
  18. I think they start with your toes and work up? No it is definitely face first, because they like to lick eyes, ears and mouth. Might be goodies lingering there :D :D THAT'S my problem. My dogs are too quiet.
  19. That little kitty can boss me around any day.
  20. He has become a buffoon and does more harm than good.
  21. Oh wow! Great birthday celebrations. Go Nelson. Please tell me that Evie was given a cake
  22. How exciting. Jesse makes Jonah look small - ish. Best wishes for lots of happy times exploring.
  23. Yes, a lot of the time, I believe we do. But the same goes for a lot of things: children, work places, diet, exercise. Some people see a niche and exploit it. We all, including animals, suffer.
  24. Yes, good genes need to be supported by a good life. Penny has exquisite colouring.
  25. Danny's cough sounds a bit like kennel cough and he is elderly, so more susceptible, I imagine , but pretty sure Jeune's isn't. Such a worry .... five elderly pets and having just lost Myrtie to pulmonary hypertension, I feel a bit overwhelmed worrying about them at the moment.
