  1. He stabilised for a while, VM but over the past few weeks has dropped to 5kgs I see him drink quite a bit so no problems there. He has just jumped up onto the couch when most of the time he tells me he can't do it and I must pick him up. He is having big rollies and trying to dig to China. So despite not much going into his tummy, he is enjoying himself. We've had a very slow and sedate amble around the block too, so all good for today. :) :)
  2. Yes, I am too, Jemappelle, so I am open to any suggestions. There may be some I haven't tried I have some old Pyrex flan dishes and tend to use those with him because of the way he pushes the food around. The. Et said he would have very little sight left in his left eye, so the sense of smell may be becoming stronger.
  3. tried the Chunkers. Not even the other dogs would eat them. Same as Four Legs. Actually I did have success with Myrtie with one of those little, balled foods, but she is now over The Bridge Also tried mixing cat food. Actually I haven't tried Kitten so I'll put that on the shopping list. He licks Gussy Cat's bowl clean, but if I actually put a small bowl of her food down for him, he won't touch it. He loves yoghurt, but if I mix it in or just put it on top of wet food, he will eat the yoghurt and nothing else. Ditto if I try mixing it with kibble. He will suck off the yoghurt and leave the kibble. Maybe I'll buy pizzas just for him
  4. Any foster would be so lucky to have someone as caring as you! LOL, Yonjuro, it wasn't me. I've forgotten the detail now, but it was something along the lines of a poster asking whether they should adopt or foster to an elderly person ha ha ha and it turned out the person was 60. And then there was some discussion about the cut off age.
  5. We do this with our flat coat too! We play "catch" and Gus literally will hoover the biggest, worst tablets if he thinks it might be something tasty. I love having a silly easy dog! Thank you for sharing. Very appropriate in this thread wherein I have expressed despair and sorrow and trying everything to,help my little dog.
  6. Hugs to you, Yonjuro. I have become a bit obsessed about looking at the fat content of food, but I am leaning towards getting him some chicken nuggets as you suggest. In two months' time, Danny will have been my little mate for thirteen years; as he was estimated to be about 3 at that time he could be going on for 16. Pretty old really. So, I think I will start relaxing about fat content. Afterall, his mum carries plenty of it around :D
  7. Pebbles, yes, tried the human grade cooked mince LOL. The other dogs loved it
  8. Going a bit Off Topic, but CavNrott, I plan on fostering, if a rescue org doesn't think I'm too old  There was a thread a long time ago about someone wondering if they could rehome a dog to a 60 years old.
  9. Sometimes other people know us better than we know ourselves, in that they can have a more reasoned and unemotional view of the ramifications of doing or not doing something. That said, to be dogless is something I cannot imagine although one day, it will probably happen because my dogs are all old as am I, so as they cross the Bridge, I won't be rescuing any more. I think you should go off and adopt this other Bella, WSM.
  10. You don't know how many times I have said those exact words, StressMagnet followed by, "You MUST be hungry!!!"
  11. Pebbles, as I was reading your post I was just finishing some pizza and Danny was giving me a push now and then, so I decided to finish and give some to him on the same plate. I scraped off the topping and cut the base up - probably amount to 1/2 dozen bite sized pieces. He ate the lot with relish. I left the plate on the floor and just now tipped out some kibble on it. Wouldn't touch it. However, I managed to get him started by holding a piece in his mouth and he eventually ate maybe 15 - 20 kibble. Not even an 1/8 of a cup But better than nothing.
  12. Gosh a whole year since you starting posting about your beautiful Didi. Happy Gotcha Day, Didi and Terri.S. I hope we will be seeing updates for many years to come. :champagne:
  13. Because they were hanging around looking deprived, I decided to give them all an early dinner. I sat at the dining room table mixing two containers of food into one and Danny was jumping up on my legs pawing at me, so put one of the empty containers down for him to lick. He sniffed and looked up at me. "You are a horrible mother. This is not what I wanted." He started to lick the container only when the others started to push in. When the food was ready I put a dollop into the container. Would he eat it? No. This was the exact same food that he had been leaping up and pawing my leg to get at. I ended up putting it into a larger dish, which strangely he seems to prefer and he ate a bit, maybe two tablespoons. Better than nothing . I will try him with another food, probably kibble later tonight.
  14. You must have your settings at a small number of posts per page, CavNrott. My computer says 6. But that is neither here not there. :) :) Danny is on Carafate, Ranitidine and Cisapride. Three times daily for each. Poor little man. The Carafate and Cisapride are alright, but the Ranidine tastes horrible. I've spoken often with my vet about his nauseousness, and while these meds are supposed to help, I guess they don't take that away. He doesn't often throw up any more, though.
  15. All my dogs are from pounds and only one was a puppy of about 6 months of age. Ten and a half years later, I still call her my puppy She is a Maltese cross Shih Tzu so she still looks like a puppy
  16. Hasn't been one since then Danny is now down to 5kg and I just don't know what to do. I'll have to go back to syringing, because even when I get all excited thinking I've cracked it, he will stop eating the new food after a couple of meals. He'll come racing into the kitchen, look up at me with a glowing face, so I'll give him something, he'll sniff at it, walk around it, and then look up at me as though I am the worst person in the world for not understanding what he wants. Whatever, I put down gets the same reaction. I timed him yesterday when I tried him with a meal of Nature's Gift Groumet. He picked up a piece dropped it on the floor, circled the bowl, sniffed the piece on the floor and picked up another piece and followed the same procedure. He sniffed at the bowl without taking anything out of it for five minutes. Honestly. I turned the stopwatch of my phone on. I also videoed it, but don't know how to put a video up here.
  17. I wouldn't like cleaning up after it. Owner needs to check on the food being fed
  18. Brilliant, VizslaMomma. I am not one for "uplighting quotations" but I do like that.
  19. Lol, that is a bit like, "How long is a piece of string?" Very breed specific too, from all the stories I'Ve read on DOL over the years.
  20. If that's spam why does every one complain about it   Poppy has exquisite colouring, love the ones of her on the beach. Dogs are like little children when playing: I'll chase you and then you'll chase me.
  21. Another one thought Goose was a goose .... until I reached the part where he growled   Poor little Boo. She looks a huge personality in a little body.
