  1. In an ideal world, Steve . . . . . . If the owners don't have a clue, they can't teach anything except cluelessness.
  2. Thanks, Mrs RB. I'll give that a try. I am just so unhappy this morning. The vet said he was happy for Danny to have the Cerenia injections, so I decided I would give the tablet one more try this morning. I dissolved it in a tiny bit of water swished around Gussy Cat's Fancy Feast can which he will sometimes eat. There was no food, just the water slightly flavoured. I syringed it in and he didn't like it at all, whereas the other times he hasn't protested. Watched him like a hawk and followed him downstairs where he started to lick dirt. He has't done that for months and only started it because Myrtie used to do it. Back upstairs and he promptly threw up. So off to the vet when they open and I can ring for an appointment. Today is going to be a tough one as I have literally not been to sleep. Tossed and turned, got up and had a cup of tea at one stage, went back to bed. Got up at 4am and have been up ever since. At least I have given the dogs a walk before the day gets too hot. Saw a few people I haven't seen for ages, because I am always so late or not walking at all in the mornings. Actually, I've just had a thought. Maybe today won't be so bad, because three nasties have happened already. 1. I went to make the bed and found a cicada on my pillow. 2. I was putting more plastic bags in my dog walking bag when I felt something walk over my hand. ANOTHER CICADA !!! 3. Was Danny's throw up. So nothing more can go wrong, can it?
  3. The point is that they aren't being naughty - they are just being puppies. To me it is the same as people who leave their gates open and then say the dog is naughty for going outside. If you had a baby just getting up on his/her feet and toddling along, you wouldn't call the baby naughty because he lost his balance plonked down and by so doing knocked something over.
  4. As do pounds. And some breeders and some rescues Sadly, yes. Probably more than some. Yep I was being politically correct :) :) I realised that.
  5. You entire post is so frightening Grumpette. With regard to the tragedy at the kennels, I agree totally with what you have said about his responsibilities and those of the house sitter. To leave premises unattended and unsafe is a total dereliction of duty.
  6. That's really horrible I don't think Jed will steal mine though ;) I think you'll be safe with Jed. The only problem I see, is that you will demand she takes you as well. Superwoman!! K, that story still haunts me. I still believe Blossom's mum was very poorly served by the Law.
  7. Thanks Powerlegs, I don't mind any repeat questions. This thread would be a heavy load to go back to read it all to check :) Glucose powder - chemist? Compounding meds together - yes, I did ask that. I can no longer remember the reason why not, but I will recheck. Peptosyl - my understanding from Rappie's information and subsequently my vet is that Cerenia is a big gun, but will ask about it. Erratic progress - erratic is right, not sure about progress :)
  8. Have sent another message to the vet. Mrs RB, no one got the first upchuck. By the time I'd wiped that up and gone back for the second, it was the seond that had gone. Tamar has now thrown up all over the deck. She did eat some of it back down. Pebbles, he goes ages without eating as it is. The meds are given three times a day - did you mean to stop even them? Jemappelle, that thought is pretty daunting, but if I have to learn to give injections, I will. As for small meals often: for someone who lives alone and doesn't do much cooking, you should see the mountain of washing up I have LOL. He just refuses everything. The goats milk and honey that he loved last night was poison this morning . Probably the nausea. I have just tried him on some icecream .... ignored. I've also tried a little bit of ordinary food. If he is nauseous, all these different foods I am trying are just a waste of time and probably make him feel worse just to smell them. I just don't know what else to do. I have suggested to my vet having a discussion with someone at ARH, because there is no way I am taking him back to SASH. It wasn't just the so called specialist: it was the receptionist, another vet and the practice manager.
  9. As do pounds. And some breeders and some rescues Sadly, yes. Probably more than some.
  10. As usual, the calm voice of reason and compassion.
  11. Are they long term like some of the antibiotics now or would they need to be given every day?
  12. Yep we were posting at the same time and I came into the study to use my computer to reply and he just threw up again :( I'm about to text my vet again, jemappelle. There must be something causing this. But it is very confusing seeing that all his blood tests yesterday were good. At my wits end. And add to Danny's woes, I just came back from walking Tamar and Bunter and someone has thrown up all over the couch. Whether Tamar did it before we went out walking or whether it was Jeune who was on the couch when we left, I don't know. Danny and Bunter can't get up onto the couch on their own any more.
  13. I'm off to shoot myself. Gave Danny the Cerenia in peanut butter this morning without any difficulty, followed a little later with his Ranitidine and Cisapride and he lapped up a little bit of goats milk and honey. I also syringed some to take away the taste of the Ranitidine. Found it all thrown up on the deck with the pink of the tablet quite visible. Rang the vet to check about giving him another Cerenia. I had to wait for his answer as he was consulting. When the vet nurse called me back about an hour later to say it was okay, I mashed it up in a little water to syringe it. A few minutes later, I found it thrown up in the lounge room. Went out onto the deck to wipe up the previous mess, went into the lounge to wipe up the other and it had gone. No idea who licked it up :( That latest roller coaster at Luna Park doesn't come close to the roller coaster here.
  14. WHAT?? Seriously, she was a bit bemused. Nothing was stolen. That was a practice in the area she lived in then. think the idea was maybe something might be saved... Oh, I thought you meant they were so upset that her house was saved when theirs weren't. Phew, I was thinking all sorts of horrible things.
  15. Perse is totally wicked. Because I was asking about cat combs n another thread, she actually sent me this link in a PM making sure I didn't miss it. Luckily, but with huge difficulty   I was able to resist having checked my bank balance. Still damned tempted by a couple of those beds though.
  16. Oh, well that's okay then. We can all go home and forget about. Haredown Whippets has spoken. :mad I'll bet you wouldn't be so sanguine if one of your dogs had been in that that kennels. They, and other businesses of all kinds, are paid not to make judgements of error and when they do, they should be investigated thoroughly. From all accounts, this was more than a judgement of error: it was a blatant disregard for the all the warnings, all the offers of help and a head in the sand mentality.
  17. typical immature response when people can't articulate their argument/point of view, they lash out instead. I tried you are not listening If this whole situation wasn't such a tragedy, this would have me . You are casting this aspersion at labadore simply because she disagrees with your position. She could just as well say the same about you. And you are the one posting insulting remarks and calling people names ..... simply because they don't agree with you.
  18. Did you edit out the green hair  . Last time I looked it was a pretty insipid light brown.
  19. Oh, . Thank you VM, I had to keep pulling back on the accelerator on the way home, I was in such a hurry to give him his first tablet. Yes!! I managed to give him a half small tablet buried in pearnut butter . Early night with a book, I think. That way he will be resting and not worried about losing me. Rappie, is the house next door to you for sale?
  20. Vet rang while I was out walking - luckily I took my phone with me and I actually heard it. Well to be totally honest, I became aware of a noise and was wondering what it was. Took a while for me to realise it was the phone. All result good and with some better than before. Angus did go through everything for me just summarising here. We then discussed the need to address his nausea. His first suggestion ((RAPPIE TAKE A BOW ) was Cerenia. I am waiting to hear from him to see if he has any in stock and hopefully I'll be able to get started on that without delay. The extraordinary thing is that Danny polished the dregs of my Chinese take away lunch after he woke from his Goats Milk and Honey induced sleep and then when I heated up the remainer for a snack, I had to give him that as well. What a diet for dog LOL. But as Nickyp says, if he will eat it . . . . BTW, Nickyp, I did try the ginger nut biscuits. Because he enjoys milky sugary tea I broke them up and soaked them in a little bit of tea. He loved it ..... the tea that is. Wouldn't eat the biscuits , but then he wouldn't eat the Arrowroot ones either. I am getting very excited at the prospect of his nausea being brought under control. He is [almost] a different dog from this morning, since he has had a little bit to eat. And so far kept it down. Later: I had to rush off down to the vet to get the Cerenia. Fiingers/everything crossed that this will be the magic bullet.
  21. I was a bit confused at first, too. But I think sandgrubber is intimating (I could be wrong :D ) that there are a heap of contentious issues here that the press could have a field day with. Frankly, I wouldn't care what a person's nationality and/or culture was, but for a pet shop owner to call puppies particularly naughty shows such ignorance. As for Debra Tranter being an "AR Nut". Well I wish there were more people like her with the courage to follow through on their convictions.
  22. Thanks VM. I'm sitting at the dining room table too scared to move because I know he'll get up and follow me. I want him to keep down the milk and honey. :) :)
