  1. He is now going all around the house licking. I've had to go downstairs twice to stop him eating the plants. I don't mind the plants, but I don't know whether they will harm him He is licking the floor and the mats. A couple of days ago, he was eating the petunias and the palnts he is now eating are succulents, big fleshy leaves. I've shut him inside and in between licking he is pacing up and down in front of the glass doors and pushing against the doggy door which I've locked.
  2. Thanks Jed. He has just thrown up the small amount of Goats Milk and Honey that he lapped happily. There is definitely something mechanicallly wrong. I guess it is the hiatus hernia. Poor little man.
  3. That is the opposite to "nothing", SM - that is everything. I think if it hadn't been for the support and suggestions Danny and I have received from this thread and from private messages, I might have given up or, if not, Danny would not be in the slightly improved state he is this morning. Danny hasn't had his last Cerenia injection this morning as my vet suggested we try him with the tablet again. There is no doubt that his demeanour seems much more "up" than even three or four days ago, so I really think the Cerenia might be working. Holding my breath on that one. I have to wait a while before I give him that to put the appropriate distance between that and the Carafate. He also had a late night supper of Gussy Cat food last night, so I guess his hunger has been appeased as well. (He wouldn't touch it this morning although he watch me prepare it with almost slavering eagerness.) The bone broth continues to bubble very slowly on the stove with all windows and doors open as it is raining and has been all night and it nicely coolish.  Only another 7 hours to go
  4. Yes, a beautiful picture of beautiful Big Girl Kluska. Missing our loved ones becomes a constant companion Hugs to you and Pappa, Kajtek.
  5. Thanks, Rachel. Don't worry - you'll all hear
  6. Not a good day, cavNrott He did lick the bowl in which I'd mxed up my omelette at lunch time, but everything else I offered him through the day he just pushed around the plate. He has thrown up, but he licked it down again. I'm making bone broth as recommended by the people Valbitz referred me to and sent me samples of their food. Chicken carcasses simmering for 24 hours   It won't be ready until tomorrow afternoon, but it will be super super nutritious.
  7. Oh, I didn't know about that. Thank you very much. Is it on the left coming from St Ives?
  8. That is a beautiful story VizslaMomma. Congratulations on your new avatar
  9. Why are they in a supposedly caring profession, then, I wonder. I once had a vet call me "a neurotic mother". I had a tiny little female Maltese who had heart disease and used to catch regular infections. She died at three and a half of heart failure, but I was "neurotic" because I cared enough to ensure she was given the best treatment possible. I didn't say anything to the vet hospital owner and that I have always regretted.
  10. She didn't even know me at the time, she was just in the reception area. I have forgotten the details whether I told her or whether Bunter's transformation had been discussed in house, I don"t recall. But I sure as hell remember what she said.
  11. She is always on on Saturdays and I would NEVER have her for a consultation. She is the one who, if she cracked a smile, the world would probably end. That sounds awful, but how you can not greet someone with a smile (all the others do) is beyond my comprehension. She also told me I was crazy to have "a rescue dog" given an operation to restore his sight . She said she wouldn't even do that for her own dog. How a vet could even think that let alone say it is gobsmacking.
  12. Thanks cavNrott. Everything kept down from yesterday. All his Meds today kept down as well. I have not tried him with food as he very rarely wants to eat in the morning and after the upset at the vets, I just wanted to let him to sleep and settle. He has reached the stage that he is pulling back when we go to the vets, now. Still feel sick. Haven't had anything to eat myself yet, so about to change that LOL.
  13. Thank you, Rappie. No one has explained that to me After Danny's experience at the vet this morning for his injection No. 4, your cubby house is sounding very attractive : mad My usual vets weren't on and I had to have a vet who, I have to say, has not impressed me in the past. I thought it would be okay because it was only an injection. How wrong could I be. She came into the consulting room with a vet nurse and I didn't give much thought to it, maybe just crossed my mind for a nano second that she was there to watch. Anyway, I was just holding Danny on the table, unclipping his harness when the vet said as she prepared the needle, that it stings. I told her that it was injection No 4 and Danny had been fine. The next thing, before I realised why she was there, the vet nurse is holding Danny in what can only be called a head lock and is forcing his head down he was yelping in surprise and pain (he has had neck and back problems in the past) and I said to the vet nurse in shock to let him go. I was absolutely shocked. Here is Danny, a 16 years old, 5kg sick little dog being treated as though he was 40kg bruiser. Anyway, we had a "discussion" about the way he was treated and I have spoken to the owner of the hospital. I had to stop by the side of the road on my way home to try to control my shacking. I am still shaking and just want to cry.
  14. That I don't know yet, Mrs RB, but I hope so. The Cerenia is a course of 5 injections and if he isn't over the nausea by then, my vet will call the suppliers to see if there is any leeway. He won't eat the VIP Gourmet roll now and the first time he had that he ate a little bit and kept it down, so whether it is the memory of food making him feel ill stops him eating it a second time, I don't know either. Roll on Monday or Tuesday
  15. LOL Valbitz. I can't wait to get their powdered goodies.
  16. Relax VNV :) My little girl also developed incontinence a while ago too. She is now 11 and desexed at six months. She went on to Propalin - tiny amount twice a day and it worked like magic to the extent that I gradually cut it down to three times a week. A month or so ago, she started wetting the bed again and I went striaight back to twice a day for a week or so and am now back to once a day. I will stay on that for a while and then cut back again. I haven't looked up side affects Propalin = magic.
  17. I have some news and will try to keep a long story short (as possible LOL). Received a PM from a DOLer who hasn't posted here but has been reading. She wanted to send me some samples of dried treats which she felt sure a certain little dog would eat and if I was okay with that, she would need my address. Was I okay with that? Is the Pope Catholic --- as the saying goes. Cut to the chase ---- treats arrived today and for the first time in ages, Danny ate like a normal dog. The treats were green tripe medallions, dried chicken and dried roo heart. I actually had to stop because he would have eaten the lot and I didn't want to overload him. (The other dogs had to have some as well  and, of course, they loved them too.) The DOLer had included a brochure as well, so I immediately rang the suppliers, had a long talk about Danny's problems and will be eagerly awating the post on Monday. Who is this DOLer whom I am going to nominate for DOLer of the Year ??? TAKE A BOW..... VALBITZ :
  18. How could anyone not be dedicated to this little soul? (Danny has roused himself from a deep sleep to check on me because I went into the kitchen, because the washing up was begging to be done. I eventually had to shut him out because he insisted on being at my feet as I stood at the washing up area . )
  19. Such a sad and difficult time for you and your family, Rebecca G. My heart does go out to you, because no matter you know it is that dreaded time, you will do it for the love of your wonderful Rocky.
  20. Just back from the vet - Danny threw up on the way home Just a few specks of frotth, but when we arrived home, he pranced off down the side path like a dressage champion. Pebbles, these injections are a course of no more than 5 (hopefully I won't be charged a full consultation fee for each time ), so I figured that it was worth it to take him down daily. He is now lying on a mat beside me, so hopefully he will just sleep and chill.
  21. It is posts like yours, CavNrott, that keep me going. :) :) And people like Rappie who give me more information (to try Cerenia) - and make me wonder why my own vets didn't consider it In fact the vet I saw yesterday for Danny's injection became quite tetchy when I asked her a few questions. Said she wasn't across Danny's case and didn't have the 1/2 hour needed to read up the case notes and for me to wait until I saw his vet again. Yet when I went back to pick up Bunter, she could have been more concerned and detailed in pointing out on his xrays the indicators to his problems. Yep, they are human too, but we are in their hands.
  22. Steve, you would know more than most that hell will freeze over while we wait for council's to do what they "should". The Companion Animals Act has been in existence for nearly 16 years. How many dogs find their way into pounds who aren't microcipped? We don't need any more Laws, we just need Order. That is, a commitment to the existing laws and the personnel on the ground to ensure they are carried out. Instead of a councillor getting a new car every six months or whatever, how about hiring a properly trained and supported ranger to ensure that existing laws are adhered to? It's simple really, so why doesn't it happen? Councillors spend too much time on photoshoots and doing the things that will get them publicity. And taking brown paper bags under the counter.
  23. LOL, thanks for the larf, CavNrott. I've been running on arrowroot biscuits and icecream that Danny won't eat. I blame him for the 2kgs I've put on in the past month  He wouldn't eat this morning, but then even when he was well, he rarely did. In fact some time ago, I stopped feeding all the dogs in the morning, but started up again, because they were going nuts by about 4 o'clock. I actually started a thread on it because I was banging my head against the wall of their lack of interest. Tamar is hiding in the dark in the study, but she has always been such a funny little timid, frightened at the sound of a twig snapping little thing, so if she is off colour she is a dozen times worse. Off soon to the vet for Danny's second injection. Ed to add: I've been on the deck hosing down mats. Luckily I have those that look like material but are in fact polyurethane. They are marvellous. Just hose them down with a bit of detergent and eucalyptus oil and hang them over the railings. Good as new.
