The Adventures Of Ronin And Tigger - Update 29/05/17
Loving my Oldies replied to Yonjuro's topic in General Dog Discussion
That dog is so full of personality, Hazy. Terrific -
They will look just fabulous. The colours of the Australian outback are quite extraordinary.

Superb photographs as always K. Out walking today and just standing while the dogs sniffed around, I noticed some ants about 1/2 inch long We walked on very hurriedly.

The Adventures Of Ronin And Tigger - Update 29/05/17

That was just great, Yonjuro. You are so clever ---- the sound track fitted so beautifully. ETA: It was lovely seeing a nudie Ronin. That coat is stunning. What are their weights of each dog? Ronin looks to be quite solid, whereas Tigger is pretty tall. They must both be sooooooo fit. -

Gorgeous little dog, Fergiesmum : -
Glad everything seems okay regarding the lump. The number and different sorts of lumps dogs (and humans) can get is extraordinary  Could it be the possum poo that is causing his allergies? I found antihistamines didn't help my dog with scratching issues. I keep him on a small dose of Prednisolone, however, he is quite elderly, and I admit I would be loathe to go down that road with a young dog. Good luck.

Oh, and having read your post again, remember your dog is a puppy and her attention span is very short. Don't spend 1/2 hour trying to get her to do what you want. Just stop, ignore and come back to it a little while later. For example, you don't tell a dog 20 times to sit. All it is learning is to listen for 20 times LOL.

I think perhaps a bit more is going on here than whatever happened at puppy school. Perhaps talk to a trainer - get advice from someone in your area (or from DOLers) because a lot of "trainers" would have difficulty telling the back end of a dog from the front. Terrible exaggeration, of course, but from what I read and see on my countless walks, some horrors are really being visited upon people who only want to do the best for their dogs.

Made me laugh. Always have a smile on my face after watching your vids and photos, Yonjuro. -
Depends so much on the person running these classes. Some dogs do very quickly learn bad habits. From what I have read (never experienced first hand) puppy classes are more for socialisation and getting used to other dogs, as well as starting to learn to obey orders when there are plenty of distractions around. I'd give it another go, and if barking dog is still there, leave - but tell the person taking the class why.

Weird Chicken Giblet Accident

Scary. So glad you caught it in time. Amazing the ordinary everyday things that can go wrong. -
Yes. My immediate thought. Glad you are off to the vet; let us know results.

Yes, Yonjuro. I remember seeing the New Inventors program where the device was first shown, and that would have been years ago. The man designed it because his dog had had eye surgery, but I rather thing the "refinements" he has had to adopt over the years haven't improved on it. He was so sweet on the phone that I am really sorry it didn't work for me as I have never forgotten the program. I think they would only work to prevent a dog from scratching, not rubbing which is what Danny does.

Poor little darling. From all I've read, one day she will just put is behind her - not a conscious decision just something the mind of a small child does. I sometimes wonder about whether telling small children that a loved one (human or animal) has gone to heaven. They can't comprehend and think heaven is a real place and so someone can come back or we can go there and visit. Not easy. We have to draw a very very fine line between trying to help children understand and accept and frightening them.

Gosh she looks like her dad in that first photo. She truly is gorgeous. -
Oh those colours, Canetoad. The first couple could be blown up onto canvas and hung. Beautiful. Jess is getting porky

What I didn't realise (and both sorts look the same) is that because they are close to his head, he can rub on them. The slots for the velcro bands are very close to his eyes and I think when he was having a rub (while I raced to get to him to stop him) he did rub the rough part against his eye because he squinted for quite some time afterwards. The shape of the cone prevents him from doing this.
-
Oh well It was worth a try. Might be good for a dog who is scratching his face, but Danny rubs. Back to the cone and swotting mozzies.

Best Book On Reading Dog's Body Language

Oh Talking Terms with dogs: Calming Signals by Turid Rugaas. This little book(33 pages) not only contains a wealth of knowledge, it is also a delightful read. There are many wonderful books that will give insights into dogs (and other animals) and their inner lives and behaviours: Dogs never lie about love, When Elephants weep, Dogs that know when their owners are coming home, etc etc. -

What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?

There have been improvements, VM. Danny has quite a bit of his bone broth shake every day and for the past few evenings, he has eaten a little bit of the same meal that I give to the others. He hasn't done that since we started this journey in October of last year. Through the day, he might also have a small bowl of lactose free milk (I did get a video of him and Bunter sharing this morning, but don't know how to post it ) and a few pieces of dried chicken breast treat. Quite often now, while I am tidying up the kitchen before going to bed, I will give him a small meal of Natural Balance kibble. All in all I am very pleased with his progress. Once his eye has healed and he doesn't have to wear his "cone", I reckon there will be another forward step. Can't wait for the Provisor, hopefully tomorrow or maybe Tuesday. he will be so much more comfortable. -
Can't wait to get the Provisor. Because Danny has to keep the cone on all the time, I can't close the sliding doors to the deck as the doggy door is too difficult for him to get through. He would fit; he'd just have to be very careful which, of course, with his eyes being not the best, he can't judge the distances My poor little man. I am being eaten alive by mosquitoes and flies are coming in as well. Australia Post - do your thing !!

When I had the guy over migrating all my Outlook files from my old computer (which Apple told me could not be done ), I had him download the latest Flash then - that was a week and a half ago. Seems like months LOL.

Thanks Yonjuro. I'll try again. I found them, but when I click on Choose File, my screen goes into the iMac files section and then freezes.
