My very first golden litter had a bitch puppy with this horrible disease. She looked like she had mumps...got it at about 6.5 weeks. She went to the vet daily for a month...antibiotics, cortisone and topical cream for scabs. She looked dreadful with a bald face but as she grew so did her face hair and eventually there was only one tiny scarred spot. She lived to 14 and was a much loved family pet. Hope your puppy pulls through ok!!

I would definitely speak to nurse about pain meds....can't heal as well if your body is fighting pain!! Thinking of you Jed and sending positive vibes for a better night. Sleep is the best healer!! -
Very sad news!! Hope little whippet finds a good new home.

It is scary to be out of hospital before you are feeling ready and while there are still dressings to be done. As others have said the plus side is that you are less likely to get an infection and once you feel stronger, you will improve in leaps and bounds. What a sad indictment of our health system. -

My credit union did a direct transfer from my account to the Swedish breeder's. I think it cost $25.

He is looking so grown up!! I love him!!

When Dizzy had mastitis the pups wouldn't feed off the nipple when the milk was all pus filled. I used cabbage leaves followed by a heat pack then gently stripped out that boob and reapplied the cabbage leaves!! Once I'd cleared the pus the pups were happy to feed off it. No side effects at all but as she was on antibiotics I had them on yakult twice a day. :D

Thank you to all the people who are working hard behind the scenes, those caring for Jed's beloved animals, those providing updates and organizing the auctions and other fund raising. Thanks too to all those who have donated goods and time!! It is amazing how people work together and it is much appreciated!! So pleased to hear that Jed is on the mend. I come here every day to wait for news. -
Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
flatchat replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
Slightly OT I called in at my vet's today and there were two bogans there with a box of tiny kittens that they were wanting the vet to find homes for. They weren't going to desex the mum because it was too expensive and were keeping a male cat that they were also not going to desex!! I suppose at least they didn't drown them or dump them in the bush!! :D -

Our first flatcoat Ch Hadwin Blair Dooley was a real character. If we didn't feed him quickly enough, he would lift the empty bowl down off the grooming table, put it on the ground and flick it with his paw to make it spin. He would keep this up until he got fed. :D He would also groom our British blue cat. The first time he caught a rabbit, he didn't know what to do with it so he turned it upside down and groomed it!! He was my first heart dog and I cried buckets when we lost him to osteosarcoma of the shoulder at not quite 7.
