  1. We have put shadecloth over the spot where all the dogs like to gather. The liver flatcoats at this time of year go into a roofed (laserlite) run that also has shade cloth under it. They still bleach a little but not as bad.
  2. Flatchat....flat because I have flatcoated retrievers....chat because that is what I do with people online. I am also very busy hence I am always flatchat!!!
  3. If you get the waybill number, you can actually track the pup on his journey. It was very relieving to see that he had been uploaded at Heathrow (came from Sweden) and that he wasn't offloaded at Singapore. I would definitely use an agent!!
  4. Good thought provoking post!! Sadly no winners in this situation!!
  5. Welcome!! The weekend was nice and warm but now we are back to cold and rainy. It is supposed to improve tomorrow. Enjoy your visit!!
  6. I hate people sometimes!! Hope karma comes back a thousand fold.

  8. Group 3 BIG Toni Drew's young wei boy, runner up a puppy ESS. Lots of breeds no awarded either classes or challenges.
  9. I love my Toledo (medium 4 berth with wardrobe). We have had it 5 years. I get it serviced yearly. Like Alyosha my only hassle has been one of the whirly thingos leaks water. I bought a cover to put over it when it is just sitting here.
  10. Flatcoats have livers and yellows as well as the more usual black.
  11. I like the sound of the new changes Troy!! Thank you!!
  12. Sometimes people make me sick!!! People that would treat dogs this way are scumbags and I really hope they get karma many times over!!
  13. Their lovely old faces made me cry!!! Beautiful brave dogs.
  14. Snakes love retaining walls according to my local snake catcher....they can hug right up against the wall out of sight. We had a big tiger up against one of ours last summer. The cats alerted us...they are our best snake alerts!! After losing a dog to snake bite we reworked the garden to create line of sight everywhere...all the ground covers went and trees and bushes got a trim. Doesn't keep the snakes out but at least we have a better chance of seeing them.
  15. I use the infrared lamp for the first couple of weeks and also one of those silicone heating pads in the first few days if it is really cold. We built our whelping box with high sides so I put blankets over the top to create a cave-like effect. The heat falls on the blanket which warms the box but it isn't directly on the bitch so she doesn't get too hot. The heat pad is at the front of the box so that if the puppies move away from mum they stay warm. This method gets us through the coldest Tassie winter.
  16. We have had people come up from Launceston before. Well worth it!! :D
  17. Ulverstone Kennel Club hold show training on Wednesdays at 6pm at the Ulverstone showgrounds.
