If you come up to Lake Macquarie you can take your dogs onto Redhead Beach offleash not on the main beach but the southern end. Also King Edward Park has a leash off area. I know it's not that close to you but a nice day out for the pooches, only half hour drive.

I have just ordered the Thundershirt, hope it's as good as it sounds. Thank you so much. It's horrible seeing pets so desperate.

Can I ask what a thundershirt is. She is scared of storms and the wind especially. Loud voices, one person's screeching voice in particular turns her into a shaking mess and she nearly has a coronary. The tv scares her, sudden bangs or loud voices. She hides under a coffee table and trembles uncontrollably. Even me holding her doesn't help much.

A relative bought herself a Chi a few years back, the first time I went to pat it, it nearly took my arm off, it was about 10 weeks old If I come across one I think how cute but no way would I try and pat it. I also have a little terrier "thing" she actually resembles a meerkat so "thing" is quite an accurate description, anyway, if she sees a human she will drag me towards them but it's only to say a friendly hello and try and worm a pat out of the stranger if they are so inclined. People do ask me if she bites before they touch though. Small terrier "things" have an impressive reputation

I felt sick when I read this....sick for you and how you must have felt on the realisation they were pets. But, they were killing, not over to play. Don't let it get to you too much, they would have probably continued to do it. I know if I went walking with my little dog and she was attacked by someone's "pet" roaming around, and I had a weapon, I would definitely use it. My dog is a member of my family and I would protect her with any means I had. The comment about shooting the child is nonsensical and not even logically connected.

I have just finished reading a thread here on anxiety issues dated back in 2008 which was really helpful as I'm having a horrible time with my near 6yo Sillky x. The vet has put her on Lovan, 1/4 daily. Just wondering if anyone else has used it and how long it takes to work. Also I would like to get a CD to help with her noise phobias, is there a website that anyone knows of to purchase these. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated.
