Omega 3, 6 & 9 have to be fed in balance to work effectivly, so if you have been feeding plenty of Omega 3 but no 6 or 9 you wont get the best results. An imbalance in these oils can actually produce a demalogical response. My guys had scurfy coats, untill I read a bit more about the oils and I have since changed to an Omega blend oil which is a balanced mix of 3, 6 & 9, its actually a horse products but safe for dogs called Performa 3, I simply drizzel it over their feed every night. I have been using it for a few months now and Koda no longer has allergy problems or scurf. So I can recomend giving it a try

I currently have a boy in physio after an ongoing drama of misdiagnosis etc. The Physio works, however it is not a miracle cure, it takes time and can be a case of 3 steps forward 1 step back depending on your dog, my guy is very active and can quickly re aggravate his issue's if I'm not carefull. It can also take a while to get the root of the problem etc. I firmly believe in the process, and as long as you are not expecting a miracle "instant" cure, and are prepared to take the time for it to make the difference, it can and does work.

Even if I never let anyone else use it, I think that the use I will get out of it will justify the cost, I never intended to purchase it to make money or to pay for it via renting it, it was sugested here and was something to consider, but I have enough on my plate with full time work, dogs, showing, family etc to have to worry about people suing me cause they triped on rock in my yard, obviously I have good friends etc who I would not hesitate to let use it but thats just me, I trust my friends and if they turn around and sue me well, its a very sad world we live in... Yes it is rather cheap, it was custome made for the current owner who now no longer uses it and I assume needs the space and possibly the money, I have seen heaps photo's, spoken in depth to the current owner, and yes it is the bargain of the year if I go ahead and buy it, which I most likely will. There are no installation requirements as such just get it home, fill it up plug it in to a power point and turn it on, its not overly big and will take up half a single car garage...so I think my mind is made up... Thanks for all the oppinions and advise, obviously if I do want to let more then close friends use it I will look at the liability insurance, I may even look at it just in case with friends using it....how do people go with having friends over to swim in their "human" pool etc do you have extra liablility insurance just in case? I guess I just needed reassurance that I wasn't going overboard buying such a thing just for my dogs, non dog people already think I am a nut case with the amount I spend on my dogs, future breeding plans etc so to them buying a special pool seems absolutley ridiculous, even to some of my doggy friends this would seem ridiculous, but I think the luxury of being able to swim my dogs at home whenever I want is worth it...plus my dogs will have all the health benefits swimming provides... -

Yeah I am in Western Sydney, If I was to rent it out, I don't think it would be to just anyone, just people I knew, through showing, obedience etc, and of course lovely DOL people. At least that way it would be dog people who hopefully would have a clue. Plus its my home I dont want strangers coming around, in this day and age you just cant trust people which is sad... I'm not looking to make money out of it, so the hire cost would just be to cover the cost of running the heater, filter, maintenance etc. I think I am going to get it, my OH was like its your money I am not going to tell you how to spend it, I think he has the guilts over taking out a similar sized loan to do up his car....I think I shall have to ring the bank tomorrow and suss out my options -

Yeah I have thought about perhaps renting its use out, there are no therapy pool options in our area and I could see that it could be in demand...If I was to rent it out I would want a vet clearance for the dogs showing that they are infection free, I don't know as I said I am really really tempted, but worry this would confirm that I am a crazy dog lady who buys a pool just for her dogs... -
Would you guys buy a heated home pool for your dogs? I have the oppertunity to buy one specially made for dogs, heated, with filter, harness set up with mini crane to lower them in etc, the works...it is just the right size to be set up in a single car gargage, the cost is actually very good, although I would have to take out a small loan and I mean small to cover it, I could easily have this paid off by the end of the year. I have a dog that would most certainly benefit from regular swimming, his chirpopractor keeps telling me to swim him more, as well as an aditional dog joining the family soon who I am sure will love a swim... What would you do? would you buy one if you could? its seems a little extreeme to have a therapy pool at home, but I am soooo tempted, I would love to hear what other people think and if you would but one if you could...

Hi kandi, Fellow Amstaff owner here, Did you ask if the pups parents were health tested? champion blood lines doesn't always equall healthy bloodlines. I'll send you a PM, however what state are you in? I can recommend a good specialist if you are in NSW who can give you a second oppinion and allow you to look at all the options, also a good chiropractor can help alleviate some of the discomfort as well as dietry supplements. I am sorry about your pup, and wish you all the best, check your PM's!! Cheers Mell

Hi, we went and saw Mark at Gladesville Vet Hospital, and what do you know, 4 trigger points in his shoulder, painfull enough that for the first time in all the different tests etc, He actually showed a pain response to the point of wanting to bite at Mark when he pressed on those area's. I was amazed. So we will be having weekly sessions (probably 4 in totall) Plus I have stretching exercises, massage and heat therapy to do at home, finally I feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. I can't thank you enough for recomending Mark, you have saved my sanity!

Hi Lowenhart, Panosteitis is the technical name for growing pains, this was their original thought, pano generally affects the long bones in the legs, and can be diagnosed often via xrays. Our xrays are clear, however he does have pain in the shoulder when having full manipulation under light sedation. he has had the joint tap to take fluid from the shoulder joint and that has come back clear and free of inflamation, thus we have been told its "probably a muscular problem and it will get better with time" I agee with you Anissa the Homeopathic treatments so far have not really helped, but I am willing to try anything. I can see alot of health benefits since he started Bowen therapy, in regards to his coat, general appearence etc, the limp however is still hanging around. Its just so frustrating. I am going to make an appointment to see if accupuncture or trigger point therapy may help.
-
Hi Curly King, I already have him on that mix, I am not sure that its working. He has been on it for over a month. I just feel so lost!! Cheers Mell

Thanks outlaw, Well hopefully I can find a good accupuncturist! I'm sure this is a silly question, but how do they cope with puppies who get over excited and jump and wiggle all over the place when at the vets?
-
Thanks outlaw! Can anyone recomend a natural therapies vet/accupuncturist in sydney? preferably in the hills or penrith districts?
-
Yes it is a human treatment, but I have read previous threads where DOL'ers have used it with success on their dogs, everywhere I have asked don't stock it, so I am hoping some one here may be able to let me know where they got it from. I'm not afraid to admitt that I feel desperate and willing to try anything.

Hi Guys I have a 10 month old dog, who is limping from the shoulder and has been for over a month, I have spent a fortune on X-rays, joint taps and the like, with 2 different specialists from the Sydney Uni vet Hospital, only to be told everything is normal, This weekend he had his third Bowen session, so I have my fingers crossed, we also regularly vist Peter Schofield. He is currently on 1 month course of Sylvet capsules a "hope and see if makes a difference" guess by the specialist. I am also feeding joint food, salmon oil, increased vitamin C and colloidal mineral silica all hoping to make a difference...as well as crying regularly through sheer desperation that nothing seems to be working. Some days he seems to be improving, however today he seems right back at square 1 (I am hoping this is just a temporary response to his bowen session yesterday) I have seen mention here of a natural Anti - inflam Traumeel, where can I buy this from? or do I need to order it over the net? I just feel so lost, the next test I am told is an arthroscopy although both specialists are doubtfull it will show anything as all other test results are showing the the joint is healthy, and that it is most likely muscular, I just can't seem to get it to heal. The limp has not worsened since it started, and often seems to be better, but its never 100% and we are now sitting at the 8 week mark. I don't know what to do...I am so depressed about it all, and at a lost as to what to do to get my little man healthy again, If anyone knows where I can buy Traumeel from I would really appreciate it, I am willing to try anything rather than have invasive surgery that seems pointless. Any other suggestions about what I should try would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mell

hmmm I have an Amstaff, my breeder has already hinted that she would love to see us get out ET title. He's 9 months now. but I think I may wait till he's closer to 18 months or so before I start, he's a very active dog with a lot of stamina so I think he will handle the training no worries ( I on the other hand will come close to having a massive heart attack) but I worry about the impact on his joints etc whilst he is still gowing.
-
Just wondering at what age you started training your dogs for ET?
-
I ordered yesterday morning and hadn't heard anything... I rang just before, my order seems to have vanished, but I gave it to them over the phone and they are posting it for me today... They are so cheap, I use sentinal spectrum and it normally costs me twice what they charge from the vets...unbelievable

I just emailed an order to pricless pets, and haven't had a response, is this normal? I attached their order form with Credit card details, but I expected a reply email confirming all was ok..
