Congratulations please drop by into the cavalier thread in the breed sub forums... HERE questions will be answered.. but be warned photos are a must. The only thing I can suggest is that you start out with the puppy what would be suitable when an Adult.... getting into a routine and then sticking to it until the puppy is familar with the routine and then you can vary it... Good Luck... Can you please PM the breeder of your puppy as I am curious

just a tad... maybe ring a few vets and see when the next cardiologist will be in town so you can arrange an xray... I know there is one that sometimes go to All Creatures in Calwell Richard is lovely

Thanks TS for the topic... Here is the photo we are trying to fix or make better.

wish this was asked last week... The Canberra Cav Club just ran a two day heart clinic with Richard Lucy in conjunction with their specialty last weekend :D The Cav Club try and get a cardiologist to come to Canberra once a year and it is open for all breeds... At last count I think Richard checked 135 dogs....

Getting A Dobermann Puppy - Has Anyone Got A Fireax Dobe?
cvs replied to teb77's topic in Puppy Chat
i have not bought one but I know people that have... They are very lovely dogs if you can imagine a fully grown dobe and a 12 week cavalier and the cav gets a big lick from the dobe :D He was just a little wet. ;) -
I prefer cremation, even though I own my house the ground is all clay and digging deep enough to bury is too hard. I have one dog sitting on the breakfast bar as his favourite place was the kitchen

without seeing the pup I can not comment about the weight. I would suggest that they put the pup on at least two meals a day and maybe take to a vet for a checkup to see if there is nothing medically wrong. Also suggest that they contact the breeder of the puppy and see if that weight is the normal weight range for their puppies.

There is no definate or correct answer for this request. It really depends on the individual animal. As long as you can still feel the ribs and they have a reasonable waistline they are fine. A puppy is still growing so I dont like to see skinny babies. Do you want to post a picture of the 14 week cav?

unfortunately there is no register to find these details out... So I am afraid you only have to go by what they tell you... the only way to guarantee that they have been tested is to sight the certificates issued by the specialists... I would take her to the vet get them to check patellas, heart and give her a full going over and then just look after her the best that you can

I am so sorry that you are going through this... that is one hard lesson learnt. The best way is to research and ask heaps of questions to many different breeder... especially in Dog Breeds 101 and also the breed forum. She may have showed once upon a time but I have been in the breed for about 7.5 years and I have yet to see her attend a show or see results where she has attended a show. Unfortunatly you are safe to assume that this person does not health test her dogs and you just need to keep an eye on your puppy and take her to heart clinics run by the NSW cav club every year. Fingers crossed you get a lifetime of pleasure from your little puppy

Cat I cant offer any advise as to people in Queensland, but Boo is in great hands as I am sure you will do all you can for the boy... You know where to find me if you want a chat..

Hi I know that this has been done to death, but I am unable to locate it. Can you please provide details for a Chiropractor/Massage therapist for the Canberra region? I have 2 cavaliers that I would like to get checked out. :p
-
it will be worth it in the long run You wont know the difference to Shiraz once it has healed... But I would like to stress that he must be confined during recovery as you want him to have the best recovery possible. Is is just the one being done or both?
-
That is lovely

That is a lot.... I am sure she will be so much better as a result of the operation

I have two cavs that swallow the necks whole everytime I feed them whole, so I cut them into pieces 2-3 pieces which helps them chew them.... I personally dont like wings cause I have heard that wings if fed whole and folded together can open up in the stomach and cause problems... if I were to give wings I would cut at the joints ;) The best thing that I have found is chicken frames... they chew them and its good for them... one frame would do an adult cav for a meal for a puppy I would give a half a frame. For the puppies I have bought nylabones and they spend all day chewing them while teething
-
I would not leave a cav unsupervised in a pen without a roof... they are cunning little things and climb out of everything.... I have one dog at home who scales the childrens gates and has done so since 8 weeks old.... he is such a hard dog to contain :D
-
Does the Canberra Cavalier Club have a web site ? I'm thinking they don't Sorry no the Canberra Cav Club do not have a website and they really dont have any puppy register as such. I would contact the NSW Cav Club as most ACT Members are members there are well

I agree with Gretel, the price of the dog should not be reliant on colour.
