I voted - in runs in the backyard - but it does depend on the weather, on the time of day etc. But basically our dogs have day runs and night kennels. Morning they go out into their day runs (which are pretty large) all have a shed or some other type of shelter. Of a night time, all except two of the dogs go into the kennels which are in the garage. We have one house dog who always stays in the house, and two yard dogs who always stay in the yard, though not always in their day yards, they get moved about a lot.

Our neighbour got a Keeshond puppy and we fell in love with him. Found a breeder and here we are. Year later going through some stuff from when I was a kid, in a journal type thing I kept, I had pictures of dogs from magazines and the Keeshond was one of them! Lhasa Apsos, well we fell in love with them when we started showing and put an order in. 16 years later and our first boy is still chugging along.

I have not spayed any of my bitches yet. I have not had a single pyo in an older bitch in the 20 years I have been showing dogs. The eldest bitch here at the moment is a tad shy of 14, and yes she still has cycles. The main reason is that I put it off too long and then I decide they are too old for surgery. My girls dont tend to have their first litter until they are 5 years old. I've had one dog castrated and it made him a much easier dog to live with. He was subsequently placed in a pet home.

Made mine from marine ply. No painting. Stands up to the cleaning.

Should Regional Areas Have To Support Erskine Park.?
Rysup replied to klink's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree that NSW needs to BUY a site, not lease one. For the long term good of the sport if nothing else. When their lease is not renewed they will be out on the streets with no where to go. And all that money we have invested into the grounds will be lost. -
I believe panting can be a sign of a heart condition.

You can send your dog to NZ and then when you bring it back into Australia you can add your prefix onto the end. So Yourprefix Dogs Name at Myprefix, when you bred the dog, and I own it. I have had the name Double Dutch rejected because Dutch is a kennel prefix. I've had Power Of One rejected because of the ONE, yet I see a lot of other dogs with numbers in their names. I think it comes down to the whim of the person doing the paperwork on the day sometimes!

I'd leave the dogs at home if you come out this Saturday. It is a big entry and its always pretty crowded and full on. I will be there at the Non Sporting ring. It would be good to come and get an idea of what goes on. As to the spotting, as long as you have spots rather than patches, you are ok. There are some heavily spotted dogs around, there is nothing wrong with that, as long as they are clearly spots and not blotches of colour.

I had a fear of Bull Terriers after one attacked my dog when I was 18. A few years later I started having to wash one at work, so I quickly had to overcome that fear. Now they dont bother me much, though I dont see many nowdays.

Hahahahaha oh dear, I love it!

Yep our Amstaff has done this as a little baby. Just keep an eye on her, she should be ok.

Sometimes you can only do your best. This groomer clearly did their best, but if that does not suit you, find another one with higher standards. I try my best to please the customer, but at the end of the day, I wont leave matts on if I can help it. Yesterday I did a Mini Poodle who they like long, and his body coat was in good condition, and I had to groom out a bit of light matting on his shoulders, but the matts behind the ears and on the neck were not salvageable, so I did the neck a bit shorter where the collar sits. Looked fine and they didn't mind, as they still had a fluffy body and legs.

Lhasa Apsos! Super smart dogs, if you learn to harness it. They were bred as watch dogs, so will bark at things, but dont bark at nothing.

I'm with Gayle! I would have dematted the ONE leg the best I could and taken it down, but surely you could have saved a bit of hair so as to not have to shave them right off. And why the need to shave down the front legs if it was just one back leg with matting. Quite odd really, and I dont blame you for being upset at all blonde!

I have had my hydrobath since 1998 (2nd hand, about 5 years old when I got it). It is THE best thing ever invented, however it is now a little worse for wear given its age. The heater no longer works, I lost the plug that goes between the two tanks, the floor has come loose from the tanks. I've had to replace the pump once, and have repaired the heater many times (and given up on that). Things I would like to see improved - easier access to BOTH tanks. On my current one, the large tank is sealed. This means I cannot clean inside, heavens knows what is growing in there. I would like to be able to lift the lid, and clean in there. But its sealed except for the plug hole. That takes me to the plug hole. I dont mind the plug hole as such, BUT I'd have loved to have the plug attached to a chain or something, to prevent me from loosing it. Its a non-standard size plug, so replacing it has been impossible. I've tried. No plug means my clean rinse water gets contaminated by my dirty wash water. The floor. My current floor came bolted down on top of the large tank. The section over the small tank was removable. I would like the entire floor to be removable for easy cleaning. The tie points. There are two tie points in my bath, both on the side where I stand, one on either side of the door. I would prefer a tie point on the back, in the middle, for dogs who want to try and get out. This only works when the bath is against a wall like mine is. Doors - the doors on mine slide out which is fine. But the door on the end (or side?) is very loose and a dog jumping on it can make it pop out of the tracks. Dont like, and never have liked that. Heater. The heater in mine is in a part of the pipe system which means you have to have the water pumping through in order to heat it. Dont like this at all. I'd like to be able to fill the tanks and have the water heat in there before I use it, with some sort of auto-shut off when the water reaches the correct temperature (or there is no water in there!) I would like to get one that auto-fills itself - so you plug the hose into the bath at an external point, and it will refill as needed. I do not have this feature on mine, I have to fill mine manually. I work as a groomer, and we dont have hydrobaths at work. I prefer the hydrobath for its powerful action, and the ability to be able to blast shampoo/conditioner into the coat. I like the normal bath for the fact you have clean water on tap. Ideally I would like a combination of the two. Plumbed in hot and cold water on hand, but a hydrobath as well. I need to buy a new one, but its something I have to save up for these days!

Ag Shows are great! Gets the dogs used to all sorts of noises. You will not often have to pay for an extra person, but with only 1 dog, only expect one gate pass, so it *could* happen if the gate people are strict.

Toys - Griffon, Pomeranian, Affenpinscher Terriers - Suppose I better say Amstaff LOL though not enuf hair for me! Lakeland, Kerry Blue Gundogs - American Cocker, Brittany, English Springer Hounds - Basenji, Elkhound, Finnish Spitz Working - Puli, Bouvier, Finnish Lapphund Utility - Akita, Samoyed, Shiba Inu Non Sporting - Keeshond, Lhasa Apso, Japanese Spitz, Boston Terrier, Tibetan Terrier...probably a few more I am quite enamored with!

I have a Holden Adventra Wagon, and its awesome, I love it. I have taken 3 adults, 1 child, 5 dogs and all the stuff you need for a dog show at once. We also have a trailer (currently unreg, and in need of a facelift) but I would never be without a wagon now!

My Keeshond bitches go from coated to smooth haired, its a dramatic drop, not just a coat change. They are bald!

Swimming - You need to walk in with her in your arms to a depth that she cannot stand up in, and then let her go, but obviously staying very close until she gets the hang of it. I would be doubtful about it being a hip problem personally, I would have suggested slipping patellas to be much more likely. Ask the vet to send the X-rays away to be scored. And get the weight off the puppy, and let her grow up and tighten up before you do anything! Puppies can be loose, it does not mean they will get HD.

She is probably still in the breeders name? Though you can transfer into your own name and not be a member, I am pretty sure. So yes you could lease the bitch for a litter in order to register them. Make sure you do the lease before you do the mating, as sometimes they wont do it the other way around.

$4000 for a debark? No way, should be about $2-400, and you dont want them silent. You will never know when they are injured or in trouble if you cannot hear them at all. Good luck!
