  1. No flaming here! Sounds to me like he may have just been over excited? Just keep an eye on him. My dogs all throw up for various reasons regularly enough.
  2. thanks to everyone who responded!! You have given me a good starting point, now I have to do some reading! I think I'd like an SLR though a high end compact may also do what I want. Have not used a normal SLR for a few years now, but having the option would be good as well.
  3. Thanks Purple Julie! I think Id like an SLR - I have a compact now and it just doesnt cut the mustard anymore. Its great for basic use, but not good enough for what I want.
  4. I have a bag of Eagle Pack puppy in my kitchen ?!?!??! I feed Pedigree Advance Puppy Rehydratable to my babies, and then gradually wean them onto adult food from about 12-14 weeks.
  5. Umm what is the difference between a compact and SLR? Man I feel blonde <VBG> They are lovely shots Bella! Excellent!
  6. Could it be that his chest has not filled out yet and that may alter his front construction enough to turn the feet more forward? Are his elbows tight to his rib cage? Hard to say without some photos
  7. I want a new digital camera. A good one. I want to be able to do nice dog photos, but also use it for everyday photo taking too. Ideally I would like one that takes SD memory cards as I have a bundle and prefer not to have to buy new memory cards for it. I would also not mind one that you can manually focus - my current digital is auto only and I find when I am trying to do close up shots, it just focuses on the background. And my current camera is SLOW, which is so painful for taking photos of wiggly puppies. I want something that is fast. But also easy to use. Any suggestions please? Like megapixels, optical zoom etc. What's the best? Thanks guys!
  8. I would apply it if they had it, but never supplied it.
  9. Well I soak cotton balls with metho and then clean ears with that. Did it for years as a groomer and never had a problem.
  10. Yes I should have said I worm them first before the yoghurt mash.....make sure it covers all the worms.
  11. Try mashing natural yoghurt in with some arrowroot bikkies, and give him that to eat, stops the runs in my guys pronto. But I've never had it for 6 weeks!
  12. All mine will throw up if they drink too much.
  13. I also hate the few weeks leading up to Daylight Savings.......the dogs are all up and at it at 5am and it sends me insane!
  14. all my dogs have trampoline style beds but most choose the concrete in preference!
  15. Bile is very common for my Lhasa's....not sure why, they just do it, and its not just mine, most I have met do it. I just put it down to 'one of those things'. Never seems to worry them, or affect their health. My current 3 are 12, 7 and 3.
  16. My dogs like to bark at cats and possums and there are both around here in abundance. This is why they are locked up overnight. I would suggest a crate - it needs to be big enough to stand up in, and lay down in comfortably (I think they say stretched out?). Put it in the garage or laundry if you are allowed. You can cover the crate with a blanket to calm him down more. Sounds like his prey drive is getting him excited when all the nocturnal animals come out to play.
  17. My dogs wont touch Supercoat. I feed the adults Great Barko & Uncle Albers, and puppers are on Advance Rehydratable Puppy and Eagle Pack Puppy.
  18. Any dog like that here is not allowed to sleep outside. My noisy kids are kenneled in the garage overnight. Sounds like he is bored/scared/lonely...?
  19. My dogs wont eat Supercoat, there are better value dry foods that they love, so thats easy!
  20. Dont know if they are wholesale prices or not but Burns Pet Food at Rouse Hill is quite cheap.
  21. I would suggest you DONT use Rimadyl.....Google it if you want to know more. I wont let it be used on my dogs ever again!
  22. I am no expert, however......pale gums normally means anaemic. At nine years old he could have a bit of arthritis in the rear which could be the reason he seems wobbly and doesnt cock his leg? How much aspirin did you give him? I would give a BC about a 1/4 to a 1/2 an aspirin. If it was a tummy problem I would have thought he would rather NOT lie on it, so maybe it is related to his fall on the tiles. ETA - I just found this in another thread (hope its ok to pinch it) does it sound familiar? http://www.addisondogs.com/addisons/whatis.html The symptoms of Addison’s disease can be vague. More importantly, they are similar to the symptoms of many different problems. Initially, the dog may be listless, or seem depressed. Many dogs are described as just seeming off, or losing the normal sparkle in their eye. Lack of appetite is a good indicator. Other symptoms include gastro-intestinal problems like vomiting and diarrhea. Pain in the hindquarters, or generalized muscle weakness such as a dog that can’t jump onto the bed or couch as he has done in the past is not uncommon. Shivering or muscle tremors may also be present. The most important thing to remember is that you know your dog better than anyone. If something seems amiss, have it checked out. These symptoms may wax and wane over months or years making diagnosis difficult. If the adrenals continue deteriorating, ultimately the dog will have an acute episode called an Addisonian crisis. Potassium levels elevate and disrupt normal function of the heart. Arrhythmias can result and blood pressure drops to dangerously low levels. BUN and creatinine levels, generally indicators of kidney function, are often elevated. At this point many animals are diagnosed with renal failure, as the kidneys are unable to function properly. Typically animals are given IV solutions for rehydration, which may produce an almost miraculous recovery. This too, is a great indication that failure of the adrenals rather than of the kidneys is creating the symptoms.
  23. I always found it bathed out a lot lighter, and then maybe try Sards Wondersoap on it. Lather in, leave for a few minutes if possible and rinse off. Repeat until you think its looking better. Does not always work, but I found it very useful in my dog grooming.
