Bitch In Heat - How Do I Know When It's Over?
Rysup replied to Sam&Saki's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My Keeshonds all flag and they have some pretty tight curls, so it should apply! They will sort of flip the tail to the side, arch their backs and point their butt out for inspection LOL If you can see no discharge I would say she is all done. Some bitches stay a bit bigger after a season, so that can be normal, and as she was inverted before I guess you dont really have a measure to go by! I have boys who tell me when mine are finished, so I don't often have to rely on the normal signs! -
What Could Cause It - Me Not The Dogs
Rysup replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sounds like an acute allergy to me......... I have acute allergic alveolitis....which in other words is a really bad allergy to birds. But other things can cause it. I get severe cold like symptoms, severe headaches etc within as little as 10 minutes of close contact. Long term my lungs packed it in.....but thats another story for another time. -
A friend who show Am Cockers works at a groomers in Rooty Hill. Might be a bit far though?

Bitch In Heat - How Do I Know When It's Over?

Does her vulva still look swollen? Does she flag her tail (move it to the side) when you tickle her around the backside? They are the signs I tend to suggest to those not experienced with seasons. As long as her vulva has gone down and is not open, she should be fine to take back to training. And dogs dont read textbooks, so rarely follow them -
Do you blow dry him? A bath and a blow dry with a good dog dryer should lift most of that loose undercoat. The Coat King should also do a good job.

Proban worked for one of mine. -
Thank you everyone. He came back home yesterday, and is sitting beside his mum and half sister....

I have heard fantastic things about Eye Envy. That would be my first port of call. I would not bleach a short coated dogs face......way too close to the eyes.
-
I LOVE my Lumix. I have the top of the line one, looks like an SLR for all intents and purposes, I just cant change lenses. But lots of manual settings if you want to use them.
-
Biozet is great too, but you would have to be ultra careful around the eyes. I use #1 All Systems Whitening and Brightening Shampoo for cleaning whites, does a lovely job.

What is she eating? Break it down for us? What you might think is little, may in fact not be.

I bought a little stand for my hand held dryer a few years back, and then my only Lhasa in coat got a haircut. One day I will get to use it regularly!

I know its not going to help teach Angel anything, but if it were me, and one of mine wee'd on anothers bed, then I would take the bed away from the wee'er and give it to the wee'ee (ROTF that is hard to write). But if you had spares, then its not an issue. But around here they only have one bed each, so when one is wet, it has to be dried.

RIP Tamsyn, run free. So sorry to read this fifi, sure are sad times.

Thanks fifi, I was just reading your post about your girl. You are right, no time is the right time. it is never easy whether you expect it or not.

This afternoon our beautiful Darcy was taken from us rather unexpectedly. I think he might have had a heart attack. He had slowed right down the last few weeks, and this afternoon his breathing was a bit laboured. We left him to rest, and when I went to put him away to bed, he had gone :'( 16/6/1998 - 25/8/2008 We'll miss you old boy. Run free beautiful boy. Darcy as a 9 month old.

I use the 2x2's or 4x2's without any trouble.

How Do You Get Your Dog To Stand Still While You Brush?
Rysup replied to pennyw74's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I believe first step is having a grooming table. The dog learns what the table is for. They have limited room to move, and you just have to hold them where you want them, until they learn what it is you want. I could not imagine trying to train a dog to be groomed on the floor. Once they are trained, you are open to other things. I used to groom my Lhasa's on the coffee table in front of the TV, on a towel, but they already knew the drill. -
Where abouts? Though unlikely, my own dogs bath day tomorrow. Otherwise I'd jump at the chance.
-
Probably pneumonia? If she is just learning I would keep her on lead while she swims. As to if it will stop her, I have no idea, depends on how traumatised she was.
-
What breed? I have found some Amstaffs are very slow to colour over, but they do. My Kees are born black, its never been an issue!
-
I have been going through something very similar, except my bitch wont walk on a lead! The judge doesnt worry her, but she wont go in the ring and not pull like a banshee, or choke herself silly. Well finally at her last weekend of shows (weekend before last) she went in the ring and wasn't spastic....so I can see a light at the end of this very trying tunnel!

Aggression Workshop **2 Places Available**
Rysup replied to Akitaowner's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would seriously like to take my OH however I doubt we can afford $400. But I have a dog who could show you great fear aggression! -
Well Ive only had two in there together, because Ive had miserably small litters lately LOL The young boy still spends most of his days in there, and he is 10 months old. He is in there with his mother at the moment, and I just alternate them, on nice sunny days I will put those two out in the big run, and lock the oldies up in the puppy run, if that makes sense. I dont have the puppy in the main run all the time because he makes a real mess - sits in the water bowl, gets covered in mud etc, where as in the puppy run, even though there is a dirt section to dig in, he doesnt seem to touch it. Oh and thank you for the comments about my ever so swish runs I am just so happy that we managed to do it all ourselves! Saved a heap of money and it does look very professional if I do say so myself ETA forgot about when I move the pups to the adults. LOL It really depends on the puppy in question. My current boy is just too over the top for my oldies, and my other bitch is terrified of him for some reason, so at this point in time he will be staying with his mum. If and when I have another litter, I will then decide how I rearrange the dogs then!

The last time one of my dogs got KC, he never left the yard - he caught it from dogs being walked past our house. Luckily for me, he was the only one who got it, and it only last a few days.
