  1. My dogs would fight for the chance to be groomed if they could....... I agree maybe you are too rough on her?
  2. It is hard! My dogs have been on a "cheapish" diet recently due to a couple of months of financial woes, but in doing so it fixed one dogs ongoing intolerance to food. So he stays on this diet now! They dont LOVE it, often they leave food, but I dont panic, they have not starved themselves to death yet
  3. I am no expert, I would think a Samoyed would be more solid than a Keeshond, however my rule of thumb for the Kees is 1kg for every inch in height. So an 18 inch dog, should be around 18kgs. WHEN FULLY MATURE! That is important, because my guys all start out very light. My current show dog who is 12 months old, would be 18 inches now, but only weighs a good 12-13kgs. His grandfather was exactly the same, did not fill out and put on that solidness until he was 3 or 4 years old. So 16kgs for an 18inch bitch, sounds just fine to me. If she is leaving her food, then she isn't hungry, so I would not worry. She will fill out in time.
  4. They will twitch and jerk, sometimes wildy, sometimes foam at the mouth, they may have loose bowels, be unresponsive (not hear you or know you are there). A seizure can be caused by an endless array of things - do not assume your dog is just epileptic - have a full health check.
  5. My dogs really do well on GB too, but all the local stockist have stopped stocking it........not good!
  6. Just a change - in Lhasa Apsos should be Gyalwa NOT Gylawa Also Add to Lhasa Apsos Worthingstar Methusela (also St Bernards) Babanga (also GSD) Singtuk Shira Suekerbru Olebob
  7. I have heard a few stories of Shar Pei dying while under anaesthetic - there must be a sensitivity there and I would be finding out what type they used. Top bitch is Sydney years ago went in for her Hip X-rays and never came out.
  8. Well in Kees you can get very different types in the one litter, just because they are littermates does not always mean they will look the same or have the same type of coat. They are a very cute pair!
  9. I have a fear aggressive Amstaff here, and his fear is strangers. There are 3 people in this world he will let come near him. We got him at 7 months and it was already there, and I showed him, took him to show training, and we did a lot of socialisation, but it just progressed to the point that we cannot have strangers in the backyard without him carrying on. I have met his father and his sister, and they have similar temperaments, so now I suspect it is an hereditary problem in that line........
  10. My lithium-ion battery lasts for a LONG time (I only charge it about every 2 or 3 weeks). When I was using AA batteries, it did not matter much which ones I used, they ran out very fast. I would never go back now!
  11. I put my puppies onto adult dry food from a young age. I dont use Orijin though.
  12. I have finally cured my young dog of this same problem. Tried everything under the sun. Coprice Family dry food stopped it dead. I am not game to take him off it now!
  13. Definately think we over-vaccinate. As for the fleas, I have not found a natural alternative that actually works. We use Advantage, its the only thing that works here.
  14. MySnowBoyz - you tried. As I said in the Spitz thread, you really will not know if you dont try. You tried, it did not work. In my experience, a lot of older males just don't tolerate puppies well, but this sounds a bit deeper than that, if he is keeping JP away from you. Find him a good home, and rest easy that you did try!
  15. What are you putting on him in the bath??
  16. You just have to make sure all the health tests needed line up correctly, so that they pass the tests and can go to quarentine in the required time frame, if that makes any sense.
  17. Runs? Over 12 months. I let the OH take our Amstaffs on decent walks at 10-11 months.
  18. At 13 I would suspect something is causing the seizures, other than epilepsy. Epilepsy tends to rear its ugly head a lot earlier than 13.
  19. Depends on which mange it is. Demodectic are not contagious, so it wont be a problem. Sarcoptic are contagious. I did not wash my bitch before each application, she was washed and stayed in the kitchen during her treatment.
  20. Yes I've used it, probably still have the bottle here somewhere. I made it up and swabbed it onto the bitch (her face was affected), but that is all I can remember.
  21. They also tend to blow a lot harder (more force). Some have heat elements though. I use a Liberty Stand Dryer on the Kees, I can turn the heat on, good for cold winter days, but most of the time I dont need it, it will heat up after a while anyway.
