  1. There is a place I drive past in Castle Hill a lot, cannot think of the name right now though!
  2. My Kees boy Im showing came up with a hotspot too! Must be this weather. Right on top of his head! I can tell you now, I sure as hell wont be clipping it back, I pulled out as much scab as I could, and will be drying it out with Curash. Hope the bald spot isnt obvious, he is entered in a lot of shows in Feb!!
  3. The company might send you out sample bags - you can get sample bags at sponsored shows. I was buying mine from World 4 Pets at Vineyard but she stopped getting Great Barko and now only stocks Uncle Albers. My local Petcare Warehouse 2000 or whatever its called stopped getting it too.
  4. So going by that you would say her levels are in the normal range?
  5. I found this which I thought was interesting reading. Just some ideas you might be able to throw at your vet.....I realise that PHPT normally presents with HIGH calcium rather than low, but these things dont read the rule books. I just think it would be a good thing to rule out. This is from here http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dhypocalcemia.html
  6. I was not sure what the calcium levels should be but did a bit of reading and came up with this below, so assuming the measure is the same, then Hazel's calcium levels sound like they are low.
  7. Hope Hazel is feeling better. Has she had her calcium levels checked? Do you know who bred her? Anything I could use to try and chase up her pedigree?
  8. Uncle Albers and Great Barko are FANTASTIC Aussie made foods. I found my dogs had great coats and condition on it. The only reason I am not using it now is that I have a dog that is wheat intollerant, so have switched to Coprice.
  9. Hi Lyn, I only just found this post. I cannot comment on the heart condition, as I have no experience with dodgy hearts. If the seizures continue and are not linked to the heart problem, and her blood panel comes back clean, then you have to consider idiopathic epilepsy as the cause. Epilepsy is present in the breed. Do you know her pedigree? I can have a look and see if I think she is likely to have a hereditary problem in there if you wanted. Also worth mentioning to the vet that Keeshonds are known for PHPT - Primary Hyperparathyroid - which can have a range of symptoms. There is now a DNA test available for this disease, so we test for it before breeding now. Sending lots of healing vibes to Hazel. Feel free to PM me if you want. Hugs
  10. Bepanthen would be good too - any baby nappy rash cream really. I have Curash cream too.
  11. You dont need anything to groom, no training or anything. I learnt by doing, getting in there and doing it. But I had practiced on my own dogs as well.
  12. I would not focus on it, if you have everything right it will sort itself. Some dogs are just flaky.
  13. My mum did that once. Bought some frozen bones and on the way home they fell under one of the seats. She forgot about it. Started noticing a stink in her car......about 2 weeks later she found the bag of bones. It must have taken about 12 months for the stench of rotten meat in the car to die down. There is still a feint hint of it now, and we have filled the car with a can of Glen20 and sealed it up tight! LOL
  14. Peter Schofield is great, saved one of my girls from a life of paralysis. However I cant lay my hands on his phone number right now....will keep looking.
  15. I would not worry terribly. Some bitches just go off their food. Offer high quality food, and maybe try some human tempters like BBQ chicken. My best litters have always been ones where the bitch hardly ate a thing. As soon as they whelped the bitches ate like horses.
  16. If it is any consolation, my 3.5 year old has grown up with dogs, but if any dog (mine included) taller than HIS knees comes within a metre of him, he screams! This is the kid who helps me let the dogs out in the mornings, and helps me feed them of an evening. But if one gets too close, thats it, he screams. Blood curdling screams. I am sure the neighbours think he is being eaten by a pack of wild dogs!
  17. Funny that no one has mentioned having pup's patellas checked? Bunny hopping in many dogs can be related to a patella that pops in and out.
  18. I have the same trouble with 11 dogs. I dont let them out until my neighbours have left for work. And then I do it as fast as possible. If I waited for calm, they would never get out, I am afraid. At least with mine, it is only a matter of 5 mintues, once a day, when they are all carrying on.
  19. Arrowroot biscuits and Yoghurt (with all the good bacteria) mashed up together, great for stopping the runs. My young boy I am showing, had the runs for almost 6 months, and I finally cured him when I switched him to Coprice dry food. Starting to think he has a wheat intolerance.
  20. 1) Coprice Family 2) 1 week 3) when I have the money I do 4) 20kg bag costs $23 approx
  21. Yes it is very sad, for such a lovely breed. I have lived with one for a short while, and when my home situation changes (ie we move) I will be adding a JS to my show team They are a delightful breed and its very sad they appeal to the BYBer.
  22. I would fight this if you were there before they changed the rules? If the by-law existed before you moved in you would not have much luck. There was a similar story on Today Tonight a while back, about a highrise apartment changing their laws and making all the dogs leave - they were fighting it and refused to leave or remove their dogs. Best of luck momosan. And please dont send your Lhasa back to the pound - contact your closest breed club. There are only two of them, but we will both try our hardest to help you rehome your Lhasa if it comes to that. We dont like to see them dumped in the pound.
  23. Sadly there are a LOT of BYBers breeding Japanese Spitz. and no where near as many reputable breeders. All the JS puppies I have seen have not had anywhere near as much eye staining as that. Her eyes are clearly irritated, and at least the vet has confirmed an eye problem. Best of luck with your newest addition!
  24. I use the freebies you get with dog food that I have accumulated over the years. Recently Advance were giving out collapsible ones, I use them in the kitchen, and years ago I got some with the now defunct breeders formula from Pedigree.
