  1. Some states dont seem to use return envelopes much, but in NSW/ACT yes you should send one!
  2. We've done matings in some weird and wonderful places. We use a stud master who can be hard to track down, and have met him at a service station, in the carpark of an RSL Club, outside his work and at Erskine Park grounds...... Maybe it is a convenient place to meet for the mating, without having to make one party travel so far? There could be a variety of reasons. Not everyone leaves their bitches at the stud dogs home, some bitches are spoilt rotten and dont cope, and some stud owners dont have the facilities to cope with a bitch in season.
  3. Your own records basically. Back when I was involved we had paper records only, and I still had those until recently. Nowdays there are programs much like dog pedigree programs. You would record the birds ring number and year and that is its ID as such. And if you buy from a good breeder, then you would be able to get your birds pedigree. They just dont look quite as impressive without names. But I am sure you would list all their wins. I bred a couple of Grand Champions and had some really good wins. I miss the birds, but can no longer keep birds due to having developed an allergy to them!
  4. Nope no papers as such, but they must be rung with a registered and numbered ring from the Budgerigar Society. The rings go on at a few days old, you cant put them on an older bird. The ring tells you what year the bird was born in and their number. http://www.budgerigar.com.au/hills/index.htm These are some show birds from the Club I used to belong to.
  5. I bred & showed Exhibition Budgerigars for almost 10 years - the main difference in buying a Budgie is if it is from show stock or not. Totally different birds to look at. Most of my home bred birds never saw the inside of a pet shop. Now days we only have the dogs (Keeshonds. Lhasa Apsos and an Amstaff) and fish (Goldfish & Bettas). So all pure bred here!
  6. Thank heavens they are ok! And thank heavens my vet is happy to give me their after hours number for emergencies. The Emergency Vets charge like wounded bulls and it offends me highly that they wont do anything without payment up front. To let a dog or litter die.....thats horrendous.
  7. Man ignore all those negative twats poocow! I'm fat, I dont wear suits, but I dress up as best as my finances allow. And SKG is right, what one person loves, another will detest, so I think you should show Morgie and be proud. Think of it this way - you are showcasing your breed. She does not have to be the BEST Field Spaniel out there, but at least she is out there. Numbers are not very big in the breed at the best of times.
  8. http://www.raadvanbeheer.nl/en/purebred-dogs/dutch-breeds/ These are the Dutch breeds according to the Dutch Kennel Club. The Keeshond is actually considered to be a German Breed even though we all think of it as Dutch.
  9. I do it alpha by owners name. I could not put in order received, because I use a program that does the sorting. And also I don't receive the entries, so have no idea who was in first except for the receipt number.
  10. We put some lattice type fence extensions on our side fence. Our neighbours could stand at their front door and look straight into our backyard/back room/outdoor area. So we went to Bunnings and got these fence extensions, they are woven timber slats but more private than lattice. You really cant see through them except for a slit of light. That did the trick. They no longer stand there and watch us when we do stuff outside with the dogs.
  11. On Ozshow a message was posted saying the numbers were mailed Monday. So tomorrow I would think they will start arriving. Its funny though, when i first started showing, you got your numbers Thursday or Friday before the show, now days people are in a panic if no numbers arrive the Monday before. I am celebrating my 18th year in the ring mind you
  12. I feed the one variety of Artemis to a variety of different dogs. Lhasa Apsos 5 & 10 years, Keeshonds 6 months, 2 years and 5 years. I have always fed the same way, regardless of brand. I also dont believe puppies need a special puppy food after about 12 weeks of age. Mine are all moved to adult food, and I have not had a problem with that.
  13. It only started at 7pm so maybe not many results through yet? I have not heard any, anyway.
  14. Dont know the answer to this......interested to see what the consensus is though. I would think it could not hurt?
  15. It is all trial and error I am afraid. What works for me, may not work for you. I have recently moved to Artemis and am very happy with it thus far. I tried Eagle Pack Hollistic, but that was not working.
  16. I dont think you can use Pool Grade. I wouldnt. The link I posted above I think is food grade.

  18. I have only once run on two of the same sex in a litter (in this case it was the entire litter ). I kept them both up to about 12 months, then I placed one out, as I could not do both justice. But that was from a showing point of view. They got along fine. But as adult males it may have been a different story. I dont normally run males together.
  19. Breed Specific Legislation RIP sweet girl, it was not your fault.
  20. Danois have you tried a change of diet? My Keeshond boy's black bits turned red when he was on Eagle Pack (the fish one). I have since swapped to Artemis and am slowly seeing an improvement. He needs to blow his coat, but instead rolls it, so it will be a slow change. But at least I can see it happening.
  21. Generally I find the younger the better. But having said that, my recent addition came to me at 5 months old and she fitted in like she had always been here. She was just so easy. We had some fun with lead training and the bath & dryer, but other than that, she is perfect. I would meet the two pups and go from there.
  22. I would never have a litter if I watched from the window! My dogs just cant find the right spot......so its assisted all the way here. Well except my Lhasa dog, who would not tolerate any interference, HE could do his own matings.
