I just use Advantix, but I have never had a tick on my guys.
-
I would try the home made recipe first, and if it does not help after a week or so then maybe go to the vet.

I have typed up the entire article, with additions, and put it on my website here http://www.rysup.com/thecure.html Some of the article seems a bit far fetched.....but I HAVE used this oil-less mixture with great success over the years. It really is worth making up a batch.

They seem to sas. Ignore my last message, the recipes are the same, with a bit added.

OK I have just found a copy of the article, so will type it out for you. I might put it on my website, its useful information! Ok the basic recipe is - Mix together: One Quart Methylated Spirits One Ounce of Camphor Three Ounces of Precipitated Sulphur Then separately mix together One ounce Boracic Acid, dissolved in one pint of boiling water Allow to cool and then combine the two. Always shake well when transferring from stock bottle. This mix will keep for years. There you go! Have fun finding the ingredients - I think you will need a compounding chemist to get the Boracic Acid these days, but I know a lot of showies still get it.

The brown itch I see is like dirt that wont wash off. You can scratch at the spots and they dont come off. It's never been something I have seen "diagnosed" by a vet. It's just something we know about in Lhasa Apsos - its quite common. I cannot even tell you what causes it, but it makes the dogs scratch like mad. We always made our own ointment. I am trying to find the recipe for you, it is somewhere in my vast paper files! Basically you bought sulphur from the health food shop, mixed it with metho in a jar. Give the jar a good shake, and paint it on with a paint brush. It settles really quickly, so you have to keep stirring or shaking the jar so that you get the sulphur through the mix. It works really, really well. I still have a jar of the sulphur in my grooming box, but the metho has all evaporated! However I quick top up and I could use it again. I will get back to you when I find the recipe!

None of those that I can see Fran? They look to be for club use. I use http://www.lottobreakers.com.au/dogsoft/ to print my own.

My dogs dont have AC ever. I do have high velocity fans for when they are in their beds at night, but only use them on hot nights.

Man Operates On His Own Dog Because Vet Too Expensive
Rysup replied to Parkeyre's topic in In The News
I have mixed feelings on this. I would like to know how he "removed" the cyst. There are small things I will do at home, that I wont go to a vet for to be charged $50 just to walk in the door. My old vet used to allow you to have an account and pay it off. He was great. But these days vets like this are far and few in between. And you have to go into debt to treat your pets if you dont have a lot of spare money. -

If you print from the print preview then the state will work, well it does for me. -
Oh No She's Eaten A Load Of Grapes!
Rysup replied to teekay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep I've had loads of grape eaters. Ive also had onion eaters. Just keep an eye on her gum colour and if gets really pale then take her to the vet. -
I use Sards Wonder soap a fair bit.

Most in my breeds dont have them either, but they will appear from time to time.

Is it already registered? If the rego has lapsed or never existed then you will need a blue slip.

I love my 05 Holden Adventra. Plenty of room in the back and it can tow the trailer as well.

I ran a mobile business for 5 years. It is hard work, you are out in all sorts of awful weather, dealing with a lot of dogs where no owner is home, or the owner has unreasonable expectations. I found that we got the worse dogs - the ones people were too ashamed to take to a normal salon - the ones you have to shear a fleece off. But I also had a large reliable client base, and when I closed my doors a lot of my clients were very sad. I closed down because I found grooming for work, and then having to groom my own dogs at home, was taking the enjoyment out of having my own dogs. It was becoming such a chore, and I decided I did not want that. Best of luck!

Not necessarily. It would also depend on breed. All my Lhasa Apso bitches would have been the "runts" of their litters, but all three made correct size, and I would think that most of the bigger puppies would have been over sized. I think it would also depend on whether there was a reason for the size difference, as in some sort of deficiency or something like that. Some puppies thrive and will catch up in size to litter mates once they are away from the litter and can eat as much as they want.

We replaced our carpet with tiles and I would never go back to carpet ever. If you have to go wood - look for a hard wearing wood laminate that can take the dogs damage. Anything too soft will just mark and scratch.

I had to give mouth to mouth to one of my girls a few weeks ago when she stopped breathing. The most amazing adrenalin rush of my life. And so scary too. I thought she was dead until I found a pulse.

Mode of inheritance is vastly different in the Keeshond, being by single autosomal recessive gene.
