  1. Wots Luv Gottdowithit Everlasting Love Enchanting Love I Love Lucy
  2. Check the DOL classifieds, they sometimes come up there. My grooming table for home is an old work bench that I covered in pyramid matting. Its solid and strong, and does a great job.
  3. I believe you can also use a hack saw blade, turn the ends around to form a loop. But I have not tried it, so not too sure. A slicker would not work, what about a really fine comb? You can get very fine combs, they might help.
  4. Tried a rubber grooming mitt? When our Amstaff is shedding badly, we bath and then blow dry him with the big dryer, it helps blast the excess hair out.
  5. Personally I would never take on breeding a toy breed "just for" any reason. Toy breeds are hard to breed. They can have problems that are a great danger to the bitch. I bred my small Lhasa Apso (3kgs) and it ended in disaster, loosing the puppy, but I was lucky not to loose the mother too. So now, although I love and adore the breed, I am leaving the breeding to others. Any of the toy breeds would pose similar problems, and its all too risky for your beloved family pet, IMO.
  6. I actually think using the Shadow example is a poor one. I'd have liked to see anyone attempt that, with that dog. Granted his foot tap did cause the dog to react, but I didnt think the dog was strangled into submission. I've seen dogs strangled into submission, and it was a lot more full on than that!
  7. Yes it is most annoying! However, having my girls miss the last few attempts, can I say that one is better than none!
  8. Nothing ever does though, does it. People will always try and do it on their own at first. Until they wake up and realise its beyond they abilities.
  9. Aside from being really rather easy on the eye and with a sexy smile......Cesar is very entertaining. I certainly dont watch him so I can learn how to control my dogs. Sure, some of his methodology gets incorporated into my daily life, but on the whole I do things my way. Same can be said from the various dog trainers I have worked with over the years. You take a little from what you see and learn and adapt it to what suits you. It never ceases to amaze me how much hatred one person can bring from some dog people though. He is a professional, and what he does has its place. No different to anyone else. I can't stand watching Victoria Stillwell, but I dont go about saying how much I hate her or what she does. I take little bits and use it to my advantage. She also has her place in the world. If people are stupid enough to try some of his extreme methods without professional help then they probably deserve to get bitten.
  10. Put a pair of undies on her (with a hole for the tail). That will help catch the drips.
  11. After loosing my singleton puppy I would go the c-section route. My Lhasa girl was mated and we didnt think she had taken. Then one day she was getting all weird, so went to the vet and ultrasound showed one pup. We went home to let things progress and while we got him out, and he was alive, it must have been too much on him because he died after 12 hours. She was a small girl and he was a big puppy, and it caused her a LOT of pain, and I had to literally pull him out of her. Ive never had a puppy that big in a bitch that small. So if I had that again, I would get the c-section, only because I know how big a single baby can get. And there is always the chance that they wont go into labour with just one either.
  12. We have tried lots of things over the years. One dog none really worked unless you could reapply 3 or 4 times a day. Now days I use Advantix which helps repel, Paw Paw cream, Vaseline, and a roll on Aeroguard.
  13. Guess so, they dont say who they are registered with do they!
  14. I love watching his show and if you watch regularly you will see he almost never uses the alpha roll anymore. And as a few others have said, he deals with a lot of extreme, last chance, cases. But I am also smart enough to know that you take everything you see on TV with a large grain of salt
  15. I do not separate entry form from envelope until the numbers are inside, so there is no trolling back through looking for odd names. But everyone has a different system.
  16. Man you have some petty show secs! One envelope per set of entries here, regardless of who owns them.
  17. What part of NSW are you in Quickasyoucan? I have no trouble getting Nutro where I am.
  18. Must admit I didnt continue to try the Maximal as I worked out Harry is allergic to chicken.
  19. Mine ate a sample I got of the Canidae, but thats all I have tried. I wont be going from the Nutro for Harry, until it stops working anyway.
  20. I bought one bag of it, but it was too rich for my liking, and pretty high in protein if I remember rightly?
  21. Anything is possible. I hope to have at least one more heartdog in my time!
  22. Just because a dog is neutered does not mean his parents, brothers & sisters, aunts and uncles are too. If I saw a neutered dog that just blew me away, it would be pretty simple to research the lines that produced him. It would be very unlikely that a neutered dog in the ring was the last of his lines. We live in a changing world. where people dont have the time or abilities to handle entire animals. I think its about bloody time the dog world caught up with the cats & horses in allowing neuters to compete in the show ring. It might encourage more people to take part, knowing they dont have to endure seasons or randy boys.
  23. I would actually recommend a Keeshond. Sure the grooming is not "low" but its not high either. I good brush once a week and a bath 2 or 3 times a year will see you in good stead. They are fantastic with kids, dont need much exercise, are really very smart (but not the same trainable as say a working breed) and are a fabulous house dog. Anyway the coat would probably scare people, but really, they are quite low maintenance, if you are happy to give them a bit of a brush. They certainly dont need bathing very often at all.
  24. We dont have dandruff issues. But make sure you are totally rinsing out the shampoo, traces can flake off like dandruff. I also dont change flavours - having a dog allergic to chicken makes like quite tricky!
