Awesome photos Nik! I think we need to get you to do some movement shots of some dogs for the Kees Club

I would offer to foster but I am too far. I will be down in Melbourne in the next month or so, but I dont have a strict time for that yet. I will try and do a donation on pay day.

My bed destroyer currently has NOTHING in his day pen. He has eaten everything, including the $200 kennel. We have a shed on order for him, it's coming (before Xmas I hope!) At night he sleeps in my other dogs shed, on hession bag beds. He eats those too, but they are pretty cheap to replace every few months. He will never get anything expensive again.....at least after the shed arrives!

Also you can just take a snippet off, and do them more often. The quick will recede pretty fast. But once you have cut a few hundred you get a feel for them

Chronic Skinny Dog - I Sure Could Use Some Help Pls!
Rysup replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have one of these. Have you tried her on Periactin tablets? They are great for increasing appetite. -
I think that much like humans, dog intelligence is an individual thing rather than a breed thing. I think it's silly to be trying to categorise them on "intelligence" when we really have no idea how "intelligent" they are. I know my Kees are very smart, but they wont ever make the list because they are not to be trained like a BC.

So we need to be able to read exhibit numbers from 40 feet away? Well ok, so where is the big mistake? Granted most of the oldies who frequent the show ring might need to put their glasses on........:p

If it were me, I would just not re-vaccinate. I have a 15 year old dog that has not seen a vaccination for 13 years and he hasnt dropped dead of some contagious disease yet. In fact the 14 year old also has not seen a vaccine for 12 years. I could go on, but needless to say my dogs get their puppy vaccs and one booster and then that is it. Done and dusted. I have never had a disease in my dogs that is vaccinated against.

When my 15 year old does some of the aimless barking, I put it down to not being able to see. He can't see anything beyond dark & light these days He is pretty good but has the very occasional stint of barking or crying at nothing. I have not re-vaccinated him since he was 2 - he had severe reactions to vaccinations, so he has not been re-done in 13 years. My "14 in May" girl rarely barks at nothing, but when she does I put that down to being deaf. Maybe its not?

Looking For A Good Chiro In Sydney
Rysup replied to Inevitablue's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If your dog has extended reach and drive and a short back, it may well be sidewinding to assist movement. Peter is an awesome manipulator, and if you think your dog is still moving funny I would go back to him. I've had dogs who I had to take out every few weeks when I was showing them, as they would put themselves out in the blink of an eye! -
I would suggest that maybe the Std Poodles he has owned in his life were either fed very poor diets, had ear issues, or both. None of the poodles I get in to groom smell at all. Keeshonds dont smell unless they get wet. In fact my Lhasa's dont smell either.

Gosh yes you were more than generous for "not bonding"!! I only refund like that for health problems.

Your Preferred Sex For Next Puppy/dog
Rysup replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
My next Lhasa Apso will be a bitch. It has to be a house dog in order to keep it in coat. The males are SMELLY with capital letters. I recently dog sat a male, and I forgot how pongy they are! It's not about messing in the house, just when they are in full coat, you cannot help but get pee on the coat, and boy does it pong. The bitch I get can go back to the breeder for a litter if I dont want to have one myself. I dont breed Lhasa's very often, they are quite a tricky breed, so its just a matter of how I am feeling when the time is right. But I have now been in the breed 15 years, so its probably not the same as if I was just looking for my first. Our first was a male, and he is still kicking along! -
Moved House - Vicious Dogs As Neighbours
Rysup replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
If the fence is failing then I am pretty sure the neighbour has to pay half the cost. Contact your council for more information there though. -
Where I work the charge for a SWF is $75, extra if matted. That's 1 1/2 hours, of one on one time, no cage drying, full bath, dry and clip, nails, ears. So that is $50 an hour. When you take out all the overheads of running a salon and then paying wages, I think thats pretty damn fair. You wont get another other professional's time for that cheap! Most of my clients are more than happy to pay for the work I do. One lady today was so excited to see her puppy all primped and preened I thought she was going to burst! The ones who complain about the prices are the ones who leave their dogs to get so badly matted that its a mammoth task just taking it all off with a $10 blade.

In the house I have Studio Sebastion bowls as well. Outside and in the kennels we have concrete bowls.
-
Do you have a theme in mind?
-
I agree with what dancinbcs said. Some bitches have trouble maintaining their progesterone levels, so its helpful to test them regularly after mating to see what they are doing.
-
Wombaroo hands down. My last litter were failing badly, mum had toxic milk, and biolac was doing nothing - they gained no weight for 10 days. I swapped to Wombaroo and am now a convert! Its brilliant!
-
Hehe thats ok Miss B I bit the bullet and got it. What size is the one you had left for? I have to buy some for my little Lhasa, the Advantage has stopped working on her too, I found a flea at her weekly bath on Tuesday but I only have big dog tablets at the moment, and she is oh all of 3kgs.
-
Nope, just put the names on the back and you will be issued a joint membership number. I dont think it matters which state it goes to?
-
I relented and got some for our Amstaff who was being eaten alive despite applying Advantage fortnightly. He is now flea free and its really great! He is coming up to a month next week but if you think I can stretch it out even to 6 weeks then I will try, because its not cheap treating 8 dogs! I am starting everyone on this and ditching the spot on's!

Speaking of Amstaffs, I had to have a creep online of your guys, your beautiful girl Paris (RIP), was a smokin' dog. Love that head. I noticed she's from Rebbull Kennels, they actually had one of my male's half sisters. No wonder I was drawn to her :D Thanks Rep628, Paris was a lovely bitch, and we were terribly sad to loose her. Our next one is coming from Rebbull too, so we hope she is just as nice if not better.
