  5. I'm lower north shore. I just did a ring around to 4 vets in the area and they all quoted $330 - $340. And three of them said an overnight stay, basically to monitor the animal and to make sure that he's kept quiet. i.e. no chance of bolting round the house and opening the wound, as my Max is prone to do! They said that the only animal they sent home same day after desexing is male cats. Interestingly enough, I rang the $400 vet and asked for a quote over the phone. They quoted $252.50 on the phone, plus $40 for Metacam if needed. I then 'unmasked' myself and said I was a client and that the vet Max had been seeing had quoted me over $390. The person I was speaking to said that sometimes dental extractions are necessary and that the vets often quote for them without telling the clients. Now I'm totally confused! don't blame you! my first reaction is 'what the...?????' mmm i would be going to my usual vet if possible. and an overnight stay, i think most pets would want to get the hell outa there! none of mine have ever stayed over night, i think a nice quiet, warm cozy room at home is probably better for the dogs recovery as long as there are no complications.
  6. thankyou for this link, loved it! Our local dressage club holds doggie dressage days, haven't been yet but i'm feeling inspired! i guess if you dont know what dressage is.... clearly some ppl would be confused with dressage/dancing. the dog has shown some lovely moves that some horses would never be able to do! very clever

  9. im not sure if we are talking about the same obedience club here!, but the one i attended was excactly the same when it came to check chains, chocker chains etc... i wasn't to keen on using them but had no choice on obedience clubs as there is only one in my district. i have a rotti and wanted her to be exposed to as many different dogs as possible and be trained to a level where i could enjoy here to the fullest potential. I used plenty of treats in my training to avoid having to pull on the chain, pretty much just having it there to keep the club happy. for me and my dog the treats did the job! Obedience clubs are a fantastic way of getting out there, and been with like minded ppl. Its just i think there has to be a better way.....
  10. short walks and practise, puppies like children dont have much attention span and its a big scary world out there!
  11. hi, congrats on your new pup, i think that it just may have been a combination of a few things, which everyone has covered here already, puppies need sml meals and if their been running around playing let them wind down before feed time, stick with the breeders food and slowly introduce the food you want to feed the pup or what agrees with the puppy, cavies can be fussy, mum has 3 cute pics of cavies posted, i sooo luv the black and tan.
