Obedience Commands?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering weather there is a web site with obedience command on there and pic's?

I have mikey, my 3 month old husky which i am taking to puppy preschool and he's picking thing up quickly.

The issues is that i don't want to use any wrong commands so he doesn't get confused down the track. The man reason is that i can't take him to obedience untill he's 6 months i have been told.

Eh?

My 9 week old puppy was at puppy pre-school for 4 weeks. Puppy preschool is normally for 8-12 week olds

We were meant to start puppy school at the obedience club last weekend but the weather was shocking. Puppy School is usually for 12-16 week olds. (usually 10 days after their last vaccination).

Then they go into normal obedience classes between 16-18 weeks of age granted they know how to sit, drop and accept the lead.

Here is a list of QLD training schools, you may like to contact one that will accept your puppy: http://www.dogs4sale.com.au/Clubs_Organisations_Qld.htm

As for obedience signs, scroll down this page: http://www.deafdogs.org/training/signs.php#signs

Why cant you take him until he is 6 months old?

Obedience schools accept puppies once they have fininshed their vaccinations.

IMO it doesnt matter what you say in the commands, as long as you are consistent with what you say as well as the hand signals. Work out what you want to use now and then stick with it, then you wont get confused and then confuse your dog

I was told by the lady who ran the puppy pre-school class that she wouldn't accept pups until they had been desexed. Is this common? I'd love to take Jak to obedience but she hasn't yet been desexed and won't be for at least another month...

desexed?? i havent heard that one before!!

what are people supposed to do with dogs they want to keep entire - never take them out to socialise and learn?? i would find somewhere else....

at our club we will accept ANY dog that is brought, providing there is proof of vaccination status. We may request that a dog be muzzled if aggressive or any other individual treatment that may be necessary.

I don't think it matters what hand signal you use so long as it is clear and you are consistent.

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think it matters what words you use so long as they are in English....well for trial purposes anyway.
