I'd like to know why it took so long to get this dog. Did everyone just think she died soon after being lost? After all the dog was on an island.

Amazing outcome! I hope we hear more about her transition back to being a companion animal again as there could be some good learnings for other lost dogs existing in survival mode.

It make a great difference to my old Borzoi - he was much happier, clearly in less pain and movement improved hugely. He had 7 doses before I lost him. All drugs have side effects - I once gave them over the count worming pills from our local pet shop. My girl was fine but my big boy had a weird reaction - he got very hypo for about 7 hours. Of course it was a weekend - I learnt to never treat them with anything on a weekend.

Yes I have kept that in mind. Many more views than people in the discussion. But some careful reading and judicious questioning early on might reveal who is genuine. Remember the person who wrote they were doing right by their puppy having already bought it "four little outfits"?

I looked into getting a new one about 4 years ago & had no luck. But I think I saw that they are no longer made in Australia, just designed & Australian company But things may have changed

I've found Beransa to be wonderful for our seniors. Zero side effects, good results. Will have to quiz our vet moving forward. Very very sorry for the people whose pets suffered. I hope now that it's known not to be completely safe, adverse reactions can be dealt with ASAP. I do see lots of alarming claims about pet products, particularly flea and tick. You just never know who to believe.

Just wondering whether the K9+ Royale soft dog crates are still being made? I have an old one, which is still great, & would like a 2nd for our pup. I believe that you could get spare parts, too. Our old one has a broken "slider?" from a very exciteable BC jumping on it. I like buying Aus made & they were good quality, too. The mesh doesn't tear.

And the dog has changed sex, so more issues for the poor dog.

After 2 months of recovery , Laser therapy and Hydrotherapy and swimming , its looking more and more like Surgery is going to be the only option . while bandit is still happy and excited every day and love to go on walks ( 10 minutes) he would want 60 I have not seen any real improvement in the first 8 weeks , The biggest challenge is keeping him still and calm , imagine a Jack Russell who just had 10 red bulls and cocaine thats bandit , So now I am looking at vet options , I would love to just use me Vet I have had for his entire life but as a Pensioner with limited funds I have no option but to look around TPLO Cruciate Surgery is looking to be the option and can range from $4500-8000 depending on the dog _ looking at followup care which usually is included can help determine the Vet I use.

Okay so im imagining this is your 2 yr old rescue dog you asked for help in the other post . The most obvious answer asap is you cant leave this dog in the house unattended . Chances are this dog already has a history & is in the process of going through another set of history . Also keep in mind Beagles tick all the things you have mentioned & are a breed that generally does better in a pack . So the obvious is you need to set up a safe run that this dog can go in when not home . Im presuming your backyard is not safe or suitable if the dog is locked inside when you go out ??

Not a fan of government only giving an option of filling in a survey type form. Note that they aren't giving any option to provide any other form of submission. The questions in the form/survey also require a considered and articulate response if proper change is going to result, so I suggest downloading the form and filling it out in your own time, so that answers aren't rushed (as often happens with online form responses) - most of my answers to the questions run to several paragraphs. Read the Discussion Paper before doing the form, as it gives a very clear insight as to what areas they are looking at specifically for changes, and what other sources they are looking at for recommendations for change - so maybe you might want to look up the reports from the listed inquiries to see what they recommend, and whether you agree with them. This is our chance to try to make the NSW government think long and hard about the realities of pet ownership, and not allowing them to make stupid kneejerk reaction type legislation that will only make pet ownership harder - simply based on the worst case scenarios that are usually highlighted in inquiries - worst case is NOT the norm, but is widely reported on in the media, so government feel the need to be seen to be trying to solve issues that may not necessarily be as widespread as the media will have you think. Case in point, the coroner who recommended making ownership of larger and more powerful dogs much harder, based only on his inquiry into ONE fatal attack - a fatal attack that had numerous failings from people other than the owner of the dogs in question that led to the death of a child. We have MILLIONS of pet dogs in this state, and fatal attacks, while tragic, are quite rare, so to make sweeping legislative changes/restrictions for ALL pet dog owners based on a rare occurrence is not something I'd wish to encourage. Cats are another issue that requires a multifaceted response if we are going to make effective changes. Take note that State governments are being encouraged by the Federal government's plan for managing cats, and the Federal recommendations are draconic - basically, if a roaming cat is not chipped and registered, it will be targetted for destruction under the Federal recommendations from the Cat threat abatement plan. At the very least, we will most likely see the NSW state government look to enforcing pet cat containment in some form. This is a chance to have your say about changes that may be coming... I suggest that you take the time to at least have a look at the Discussion Paper so you have some idea of what those changes might be. All that said, this is still only the first step in the process. What happens next is hopefully the NSW government will look at the responses thoroughly and propose legislation that might be workable - and then we'll have our chance to look over those actual proposed changes and again have our say before the end result is put to parliament for a vote to enact those changes. The wheels of government move slowly, so the next stage could be some months away... T.
